One of the worst things I’ve eaten in a long time. The tuna poke taco may have been delicious, it certainly looked great, but someone went crazy with the wasabi mayo. I am no coward with it comes to spicy but any other flavor in this dish was obliterated by wasabi. Even after removing what I could of the offending green goo, no other flavor could penetrate the onslaught. Or perhaps it was an intentional cover up of past-its-prime fish? Either way it was terrible!

Two words: Bomb-diggity. Their food cart is on a rotation with 4 others where I work, Monday’s and Thursday’s, on the corner of 19th and NE Glisan at the Hanna Andersson bldg, formerlly the Jantzen,(right off Sandy blvd, behind Music Millennium bldg) and we’ve gotten them probably 5 times by now. Pick your meat(poke tuna, salmon or carnitas) and then what you want it in/on(tacos, fried rice or salad). All portions of meat, toppings, veggies etc, are generous and QUALITY! And flavor? Bland does not live here. Perfect mix of different ingredients and I love the wasabi sauce concoction, just the right amount w/o overpowering the entire dish. My go-to is the Poke Tuna… it melts in my mouth and then I melt into a pool of butter on the floor =D Never have I savored every bite of a meal quite like this. Audible«mmmmmm’s» with every bite. I don’t look in the mirror while I eat, but I imaging I may look in a trance or like Homer Simpson or a combination of the two; Homer in a Trance =D Half of it is wrapped up in the fridge from an hour ago and it’s beckoning me to come back for more. I will resist temptation and at least wait until I’m hungry. I have not gone to their Belmont location which looks to have a larger menu(soups and sandwiches) which only makes me feel like Homer Simpson is my «spirit animal»

Ah, my first Portland food cart experience! I’ll just tell you that these are really good tacos. REALLY. I had the ahi tuna poke and the carnitas tacos. Both phenomenal. The poke was fresh and you really got a kick in the pants from that wasabi. The carnitas were tender, smoky, moist. Both tacos were quite large too. I did well with just 2 tacos. Just so you know how good it is, I found myself in the area gain later in my trip and really thought about going back here again vs. trying a different cart. I usually don’t do that and opt to try whatever is new to me.

If you love fish you have to come here! The ahi poke taco is a must try. So fresh and delicious. A good amount of nice sized chunks of tuna in a lightly crispy soft shell taco blended with a lime flavored slaw. The flavors go so well together. It does come with wasabi which I’m not a fan of so I really wish I had known that so I could request no wasabi. It wasn’t too much though and gave it a spicy kick anyway. Chili lime salmon tacos are really good too. Fresh grilled tuna wrapped with slaw in a soft taco, the warm fish is very tasty wrapped up in the cool lime flavored slaw. 2 tacos for $ 7 or 3 tacos for $ 10, not bad at all and the portions are generous, 3 will def be enough to fill you up! Had the fish and chips too which was very basic. Fish wasn’t flavorful at all, just tasted fried. I’d pass, but it does come with thin cut fries that were pretty good. Service is super friendly and we didn’t wait too long for our freshly cooked food.

The fish is always fresh and flakey and the rice is amazing. We drive hours to eat here monthly.

Went there on a lovely sunny Friday on my lunch hour. All morning I was looking forward to the Salmon Satay. We got there about 10 minutes early and I inquired at the window whether they opened at noon. The guy said yes. So I waited, since their food is worth it. Pretty soon I had another gal queue up behind me. Meanwhile my workmates had already moved on to other carts and at 12:15 the guys in the Fish Box just ignored us. By this time there were even more people waiting. Hey if you say you open at 12 open! At least acknowledge the customers waiting. I wasted my lunch hour and didn’t get to eat with the people I came with.

I’ve only eaten from their food truck, which has a pretty limited menu, however the ahi tuna tacos are fantastic; very flavorful(they use one of the best sauces I’ve ever had in their wasabi sauce they put on these things), and the tortillas they use have a great texture. Their carnitas tacos are pretty good too, also very flavorful but a tad greasy. Their prices are a little on the high side, $ 10 for 3 tacos, but well worth the treat every now and again. I highly recommend this place, particularly the ahi tacos if you like seafood.

Fishbox came to the office today and did not disappoint! The line was long(as always) but the team did a good job at bringing it down quickly without sacrificing the quality of the food. The menu is limited at their truck to their tacos, rice bowls, and salads. Between my friend and I we shared a combination of their poke tacos on corn tortillas and salmon tacos on flower tortillas. The corn tortillas are typically my favorite but for some reason today they tasted a little off, and they were a little cold to the touch. Now if that was because of the cold weather or improper heating of the tortillas I don’t know, but seeing the tortilla is such an important part of the taco I’m deducting 1 star for that. They are still one of the favorite food trucks on campus and I will still stop in and visit their free-standing location in Portland when I’m in the area. So, if u have a hankering for some good fish tacos, I think fishbox is still my go to, let’s just try to hear up the tortillas a little more next time!

This place offers the best Ahi fish tacos in Portland! Quality ingredients, and at a very reasonable price! I’ve also tried their Carnitas Tacos and Gumbo– both of which are incredible. I’d rate this place five stars, but the last couple times my husband and I went here the service lacked a bit. We got there five minutes before they opened(just patiently waiting, not tapping on the glass or anything) and the woman tending the food cart was very rude and waived us away. Hopefully that was a one time thing! We’ll be back regardless.

The drinks they make are great. Love the different teas. Of course, the fish tacos are amazing. Try them with some great hot sauce and thanks me later.

Based on reviews, we visited Fishbox and will be back when in Portland. Located in a lot with many other food trucks, they serve great fish based food — salmon filet burger, ahi poke tacos, fish and chips… three of the plates that we enjoyed. Fresh and tasty… must be the availability of fresh fish in Portland. The prices are pretty affordable — all about $ 9 per plate. The best part about the foodtruck? There are other foodtrucks in the lot so if Fishbox does not fit your taste, there are others from sushi, Hawaiian/Korean, Thai, and many others. Order your plate(s), pick it up, and take it one of the picnic tables in the areas. Although it was not for sale, I think you can BYOB. There were signs in the picnic area stating that all alcohol must be consumed on the premises. Might be an idea for future visits. Enjoy!

I’m pretty sure the folks at Fish Box had no idea that I was having a horrible day because I discovered I have a flat tire this morning, that I have some health issues going on or that myself and about 900 people are losing our jobs in December. They hooked me up because I had something nice to say. And they really didn’t have to. Many businesses these days overlook the importance of building customer loyalty. But they got it right. Thank you FishBox for making my day. Your tacos are fire. Excellent salmon & carnitas tacos!

Fish and Chips? Sounds great, right? $ 10 for two pieces of fish and some fries? Stingy and overpriced. This place needs to get real to get return business. They won’t get mine. I left hungry.

I walked right past fishbox a million times before every trying it. Fresh fish from a food cart? I was skeptical, to say the least. But finally, one fateful night, I decided to take a leap and try their fish tacos(I ordered a sort of ad hoc variety plate — salmon, tuna(raw), and pork(which, to be fair, is not actually a fish), all for $ 10), and I was seriously glad I did. The portions are big and the food is *delicious*. A little spicy, very fresh, filling, and all around excellent. The staff is super friendly too, and does a good job at remembering my name(well, maybe half the time, but to be fair I don’t remember their names either…). I love this place and intent to go as much as possible until later this year, when all the food carts are getting booted out to make space for a bunch of sickening, soul-destroying, neighborhood less-gooding, yuppie corporate apartments. Fascist bastards. Nevertheless, fishbox is great.

Oh man this place is great. I have yet to try their fish, I know, crazy. But their carnitas is so dang good I haven’t wanted to! I first had their rice bowl with carnitas and it was delicious and a huge portion! It’s pretty much asian fried rice with a huge portion of mexican carnitas on top. My second visit I had the salad with carnitas. I was blown away! I’m usually not a salad person but this was soooo good! The spicy dressing is perfect with the pickled veggies and again, the carnitas are great!

Happen to drive by the food pod on Belmont when I saw their fish & chips sign. Decided to try. Friendly staff! I was second to order but was forth to receive my meal… I received the fish that were a dark brown from the fried coating being over cooked. Both pieces of fish were very greasy and sitting atop some thin fries that were limp and as well heavy and soggy in grease… The homemade tartar sauce was over powered by a added hot sauce that detracted from the flavor of the over cooked fish. It was a sad experience… Not likely to return.

Craving ahi tuna, stumbled across this page after doing my Unilocal homework. Cute little food cart with friendly staff and some delicious looking option for food and beverages. I ordered the ahi tacos(AMAZING) and the bf ordered an ahi bowl/salad thing. That too, was incredible. It was fresh and the colors vibrant. We were both happy campers! They also serves limeade and hibiscus tea. both were tasty and refreshing, especially on a hot day. Across the way, there is a beer garden if tea or juice isn’t your thing. I’d definitely recommend giving this place a try if you’re craving some fresh, delicious fish used in creative ways.

Maybe I should have tried the fish tacos since they have some positive reviews. I decided on fish and chip with their catch of the day, which was a cod, and a limeade. Worst limeade ever – very water down, I am missing the lime and sugar, that it might as well be water with a slice of lime. Not refreshing. Good portion, I got two huge pieces of fish over fries. The fries were alright, but the fish was really oily and overcooked. I felt nauseous after eating one piece due to the greasiness.

I got the rice bowl and went halvsies with the salmon and the poke tuna. Phenomenal! I was hesitant because I don’t generally like teriyaki sauce but was reassured that they make the sauce in house and that its not very sweet. I was sold. It came with lots of veggies, the sauce was soooo good and that poke tuna is uhh-mazing.

Just got off the plane, and not even 2 hours after stepping foot off the plane, that I must must go find myself some poke! I’ve been researching places in Portland before I even got here; on where to go for a poke bowl! Luckily enough I stumbled upon fish box on Unilocal reviews and what a delight it was! We drove to where they parked all the food trucks. It was in a mini lot with about 5 – 6 trucks. And I walked around looking for the fishbox truck. I was so bummed at first when I thought it wasn’t there. But I turned around and was so ecstatic that there it was, I missed it, because their serving window was on the side! We ordered two poke tacos and a poke bowl. You can never have enough poke! The poke bowl was delicious ! It came served over brown rice with green spicy sauce. The spicy sauce was really over powering and just left me with a spicy taste for like 2 hours. But all in all I loved the fried brown rice under the delicious melt in your mouth poke. The tacos were amazing too! It came on a bed of vegetables and wrapped in soft taco tortillas. I will be back for another poke bowl!
