Florida Room

Great bar. Dive bar with outdoor seating as well as a back room with pool. Not divey in a your clothes smell like piss the next day way, just atmosphere. Cheap beer, great daily specials, and hand concocted infusions making for really good, well priced cocktails. Food is tasty, and the bartenders are great.

I love you, Florida Room.

This place is great if you want to go somewhere over crowded with horrible customer service where the staff are so pretentious they even scoff at your drink orders… which is funny because they can’t even put together a decent two part drink. Every time I’ve been here it has been wildly disappointing with the drinks and service. There are way better places within the same distance to go. I’d advise anyone to rethink going to this establishment. Can’t wait to never go there again.

Great staff, good tap list, but the cigarette smoke is unreal. Hard a hard time breathing INSIDE the building. Won’t be back.

This place is wild. It’s one of those dive joints that has a dark setting with loud rock music going on and people smoking and talking loud. It’s definitely not my scene but it’s a great place to grab some late night food for that buzz. It’s all basically drunk food!
I had their famous tatchos which is well worth the buy. I had a huge plate of basically a pound of tots topped with cheese, guac, olives, salsa, etc. for $ 12 this was legit. I actually finished 90% of it because it was too damn much.

This place was almost too hip. This was the epitome of Portland. The most rocking dudes in the world, in the most over the top band worshiping garments. Very few places you could get away with just indulging in all your fantasies. Gotta love portland, everyone is super cool. This bar was just that. We sat out on the patio. Very cool you could smoke out there and get loud and rowdy. If I lived out in this hood, who knows I could drink olympia beer and talk to cool Portland people who moved here from Ohio and West Plains Missiouri. I’m just teasing. Everyone is a transplant. I was once the sterotypical Portlander, that’s why it’s so cool.

Worst service I ever had. You will only enjoy this place if your general aesthetic is a punk who hates their life.

My home away from home! Florida is the hottest joint since the first I smoked in the summer of 2006 in Miami. This place gets me higher than Whitney Houston at the source awards. Heavy drinks and fucking awesome bar food. (Nachos) Fantastic employees that are not just personable but tough as nails. Not to mention they happen to have a fantastic employee named Dave who happens to be a member of Satan’s Pilgrims on their staff! The only bad time at The Florida Room is caused by those looking for one. Love this place!

Without Nic there the Florida Room is dead to me. He was the curmudgeony heart and souls of that place. Without his shining face I have no reason to live.
I still love the patio and food though.

My favorite bar in North Portland. Amazing Nachos.

We were just there. I heard the bloody Mary’s were great so we stopped in to try. I found a white (I’m hoping) dog hair in mine. I showed the bar tender. She said oh it looks like a dog hair! Swept it on the floor then preceded to ignore us. Needless to say I didn’t finish my drink and we left!

Smokers heaven. I’m not a smoker so it gets the 4 star treatment but I can’t complain about much else. Also they have «Not your dad’s root beer» which is legit.

What I like best about the Florida Room is the sign and the window display — funny funny funny.
The bathrooms are dark and dirty with chalk board walls for folks to leave there messages.
Pinball — can’t go wrong there.
Drinks are cheap and well made, good number of options on tap.
Plenty of bike parking and nice outside seating.
There is a younger hipsterie crowd, not too diverse.
We had chips, quac, and salsa. The chips were crisp and warm — nice.

Though the drinks tend to be well made and it does have a great patio, the Florida Room manages to disappoint.
The owner is a friendly and gregarious guy that greets us with a smile and a pat on the back each time we see him. The friendliness pretty much ends there. The bar tenders always seem annoyed that they have customers and even when there is a line to the door — they never hustle. Ever.
It’s order at the bar only. So on a recent visit we decided to sit at the bar with hopes of just a lil’ bit of service. Nope! No one was placing orders at the bar — but the bartenders just weren’t capable of asking if we needed anything or getting us another drink. At one point (my husbands drink had been empty and waiting for close to 10 minutes) the female bartender came over to us, picked up her phone and started messing with the music!
We’re not asking for a lot here. You’re in customer service. Please, try to be nice to us. We will tip!

A few months ago, this was a fun dive bar with good drinks. Apparently one of the key people (an owner or manager) has decided to step back and go part time and the drink quality and service has gone from good to terrible in a matter of weeks. I’ve only eaten there once. It was a grilled cheese that was not edible. You have to try pretty hard to make a grilled cheese inedible, but this is obviously not a place one would expect decent food, so that’s on me. Had I rated this place a few months ago, I would have gone 4 or 5 stars. The last two visits make that impossible.

As a college student who goes to school at PCC next door, this is a great place to stop after class for a beer and food. They have an awesome happy hour between 3 and 7 with a variety of different plates for only four dollars, and they even have Olympia cans for only a dollar. When you are a college student and trying to get the most bang for your buck, this place will do the trick.
I usually get the chicken tender or slider plate, which comes with french fries (and ranch for the tenders). The food is very average, but considering the price it’s a good deal nonetheless. The french fries had a nice seasoning on them, and I could eat a large order of them alone.
They also have a large heated seating area outside if you smoke, and it’s covered so you don’t get wet when it rains. The crowd is mostly students and blue collar workers, and it’s much less pretentious than other nearby bars. The staff were also friendly and I was served immediately.
The Florida Room is becoming my new regular spot, and for good reason.

This is one of my favorite neighborhood bars. I’m not really sure what more one could ask for in a bar.
This place has a covered front patio (as I am no longer a smoker I tend to not sit out there unless it is summer time). There are plenty of tables between the front room and the back. Most tables contain fun/​interesting art work painted on them.
The drinks here are reasonably priced, especially if you swing by for happy hour. They have several hard ciders to choose from which always makes me happy because I’m not a beer drinker. When I am in need of something stronger than cider the Florida Room has many specialty drinks and a solid bloody mary. I believe they also infuse their own alcohol as well.
If you are in need of some activity to go along with your drinks this bar has a few pinball machines and even a photo booth for some super silly memories.
I’ve never been disappointed with any of the food I have ordered here, but I know what to expect… bar food. The happy hour menu is great and the nachos are gigantic. They have options for both the meat eaters and the vegetarians. Definitely does the trick to satisfy any case of the munchies one may get while knocking back a few tasty adult beverages.

Fun. Florida Room is fun, man.
I love the mid-​century, 1950’s roadside bar feeling. They have amble diner-​style seating inside and tables outside. They infuse their own liquor, so you can get earl grey vodka or jalepeño tequila. Cans of Olympia are ONE DOLLAR. Their pours were a little on the weak side, so maybe stick to beer and shots if you’re on a mission to get drunk.
There is a food menu, but it’s not posted and must be hidden somewhere because I couldn’t find how people were ordering these amazing looking tater tots. I mean, you could ask though.
