Frame Central

The frame was amazing it look great. It looks amazing hanging it up in the school walls. This is truly the best company that gives out the best service.

Friendly, helpful, and skilled. We had a large print framed in another city and it didn’t come out the way we expected. Fortunately or unfortunately, the glass shattered during our cross-​country move, so we took it in for reframing. We spent about five minutes explaining what we wanted, including answering intelligent questions when necessary, and ended up with a perfect piece at a much lower price than we’d paid in the other city. The store also sells prints and has a large selection of self-​framing supplies. We plan to visit Frame Central on Macadam for any and all our framing needs from now on.

Very knowledgeable staff that have helped me pick out the right framing options for many special pieces. They always turn out flawless. So glad I found a local framer that’s so good!

The guys at Frame Central did a great job for me at a very reasonable price. I had several etchings that I wanted framed in a style to coordinate with some other pictures I had framed years ago at a shop that is now closed. I tried Aaron framing, but they didn’t have the thin, intricate frame style I was looking for. Frame Central had not one but three great choices that all looked great with my older frames. They helped me pick out mats, and select the right frame for each picture, at a price that was as good or better than other places. And they quoted me two weeks, but turned my framing around in just a few days!

We got a beautiful Grateful Dead poster as a present from neighbors. We love the poster, and really wanted the framing to come out well.
After reading a number of positive reviews we took it to this store. The person who helped us was Margaux Meganck, who is an aspiring children’s book illustration artist.
Margaux suggested a number of things that we would never have thought of, and one of the things she suggested was so outrageously cool that we decided to do it that way as soon as we saw it.
I picked up the poster this week and it came out even better than we had hoped. We’re really happy that we picked this store and had the good luck to have Margaux be the one who helped us.

A family member recommended Frame Central to my boyfriend and I after we needed to repair a botched frame job by Michaels. Dennis helped us and assured us he could fix the framing and ad a more stable wire to the back for hanging. He treated our photographs very well and repaired the terrible job that had been done before. Dennis was also very friendly and chatted with us the whole time. Within 10 min. our pictures were beautifully framed, cleaned and ready to hang. I strongly recommend this place for their friendly service and quality work!

I had a poster I wanted to have framed. I was concerned about the cost, based on past experiences with other framers. Frame Central on Macadam was great; the man who assisted me was helpful in picking out the right frame and matting, and I was very pleasantly surprised at the total! It was less than half of what I was expecting. When I picked it up it looked great.

I cannot recommend Frame Central on Macadam too highly. The place is low-​key but the staff is very knowledgeable and always comes up with recommendations for a mat or frame or filet (my new framing word) that is perfect for what I want. Best of all, when I don’t like a suggestion and say why, they accept it and instead recommend what is perfect for me. And absolutely watch for the sales: great discounts! Parking is even convenient. If you have a photo or a Picasso or that crayon thing your kid drew in pre-​school, these folks can make it look just right. Very prompt service too, even when the frame needed to be ordered. Give this place a try for sure!

Went above and beyond with service! I had already built my own frame and needed glass (nothing special) and had many question being it was my first picture frame to build. They helped me with all my questions and even gave my a few items of hardware to make the process easier for me at home. And then the unexpected happened and I accidentally broke the glass so I went back to buy another piece and they just gave it to me. Definitely going to be my one stop shop for all framing needs.

Awesome service. They did not try to upsell me on anything as I knew exactly what I needed to get my show on the road, so-​to-​speak. And, they were able to deliver in a timely fashion. Kudos to Frame Central and the team on Macadam!

This place is amazing. Everybody there is incredibly professional and competent in their craft; I’ve had six pieces framed so far and they all came back stellar. I’m dropping off two more pieces later today. They treat whatever you bring in with the utmost care and attention – which is good, since one of the pieces I’m dropping off is a page of a wall calendar from 1953.

I had a super positive experience with Frame Central. I’ve been on a recent mission to fill my home’s blank walls with art and photos. I know nothing about art or frame costs, so I wanted to find something I could afford. Thankfully Frame Central had a wide range of prices, as well as styles and frame quality to choose from. One of my larger art pieces was 20×30 inches, and the associate was able to find a frame with mat for me in a great price. Only $ 50! Not bad for a huge frame.
Unfortunately when I got home and started putting my larger piece together, the glass completely shattered. It was totally my fault (hmm leaning against the glass was probably not a good idea) and I felt defeated already after just buying the frame. I looked online for glass replacement and even called around some hardware stores, but decided to call back Frame Central and tell them what happened.
The folks there were so nice and said they would replace the 30×40 glass for me at no charge because I was a new customer. Thank goodness! I’ll be back soon to buy more frames for more art, thanks to their great prices and better service!

The best thing about this art framing shop is that they give a discount for do it yourself framing!
Frame Central has a «you frame it» option where you clean the glass and put all the pieces together which they have precisely cut. It is easy. I recommended that simply to learn, and they are there to instruct or for questions.
I design my own framing. If you need help from them picking the matte and moulding, they do that, included in the price, as do all frame shops.
They clearly understand acid-​free framing materials, which should be used on anything you are planning on keeping for more than ten years. They are weak on archival museum/​conservation framing and reversible mounting, specifically mounting works on paper, including collectable photographic prints. But most work does not need that!
It is not standard at Frame Central to seal the back of the work, you might ask about that.
They also do not do «closed corners». That is where you have a frame moulding with a pattern, and you want the patterns of each piece to perfectly intertwine in a mirror image at the corners. It requires more precise calculations, trial and error, potentially repainting the assembled frame and more material waste. This is primarily an issue with traditional patterned mouldings, and not an issue with contemporary mouldings.
If you are doing your own frame assembly suggest picking up a pair of white art handling gloves at an art store. They keep the finger oils off the artwork, and the glass.
I would also say that it is not necessary to use anything but standard glass. Plain glass provides most all of the UV protection you need. Unless of course if the artwork costs more than your house, or you are a museum. In that case, it’s great to use museum glass! I have not used it.
They offer discount coupons to customers who sign up for it. They may have Unilocal coupons from time to time.
This, and their NW industrial area Yeon location, is one of only a handful of my go-​to spots for framing in Portland.

It was ok. I can’t get around to give them more stars just because the guy that helped us seemed annoyed, maybe he was having a bad day, maybe he was just being a knucklehead. That kinda irked me. He wasn’t very helpful when I kept asking for a clean & modern looking frame, he kept showing me the opposite over and over. It was my husband who found the right one.
Bottomline, they get most of the stars because of all the choices of ready frames and the value.

Soooo impressed. Not only was I greeted with a smile, which is big to me, but the employee that helped us was soooooo HELPFUL! I also really appreciated not feeling pressured into spending large sums of money at that moment.
With our framing project, the frame had to be cut down, we added a second frame and when I just picked it up today, I was speechless — gorgeous work!
We will definitely be back for our framing needs!
