Chicken n waffles! Very yummy and crispy chicken. Wife loved the fresh baked chocolate cookies. If you are following map directions from google maps it’ Lloyd send you astray.

Ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches one with HAM and one with Sausage. I was given one ham and one bacon. I asked if they could take the Bacon off and throw a sausage patty on the incorrectly made biscuit. They refused vehemently and then wanted to charge me $ 2.00 for their mistake. I know I said sausage, cuz that’s what I was craving. They were VERY short with me and did not apologize or act as if they did any wrong doing. PLUS the biscuit is tiny and the side of sausage gravy tastes like it comes from a can. No thanks you

Holy crap, this little Portland gem of a food cart needs to move to Grand Junction with me. Stopped by after working out at Pulsepdx and treated myself to chicken and waffles. CHICKENANDWAFFLES! Flakey, flavorful, tender pieces of chicken breast on a perfectly cooked, golden brown waffle with butter in every little crevice. I did forego the syrup, but didn’t miss it one bit. Having been forced to eat gluten free for the last 6 years, this was worth every bite. I’ll be back soon and often. I want to work my way through the menu before I leave town.

As others have noted, the food cart park this place is located in is easy to miss from the street. Hollywood Cycling and Chroma Hair Studio are just across the street, and Hollywood Fitness sits on the downhill end, while the Bike Gallery is on the uphill side of the food cart park. The GF Chef truck is right next to the sidewalk. There are open air wood tables, a fire pit, and a tarp covered area if it’s wet. Food is in to-go containers. I have had their waffles, hushpuppies, and biscuits and gravy. The waffles are fluffy, sweet and gluteny. My gluten indulging husband couldn’t tell any difference. The hushpuppies were delicious. The biscuits were decent, and if you like brown gravy, you’d like the dish. I really dislike brown gravy unless it’s on turkey or mashed potatoes. Otherwise, not a fan. I asked about white gravy after we ate. It’s not an option. I would not order those again, but anything else is great. The couple that runs this is very friendly and all smiles. I have stopped by once, when they were supposed to be open and they weren’t. I don’t hold it against them, as it is just the couple running it. Life happens. If you are gluten free, or even if you don’t have to eat that way, they have delicious food. Like any time you eat out though, don’t expect healthy food. This is good, make you happy from your mouth to your feet, food.

Jim and Bonnie(the proprietors) are extremely friendly and helpful. My most recent order was the biscuits and gravy, and the textures on both were DE-licious! As a gluten-sensitive person, it’s hard to find restaurants/food trucks that don’t have some cross-contamination issues. Here, everything is GF, so you can indulge safely! Best of all, they make their mixes in-house and they are available for retail. They’re introducing new menu items in the coming weeks(cookies and crepes, to name a few). I can’t wait to go back and sample more of this GF goodness! PROTIP: Blink and you’ll miss their truck in the Rose City Food Park, which is located between Hollywood Fitness and the Bike Gallery. My first google maps search brought me to a completely different location. Search directions for The Bike Gallery for ease of travel.

Stopped by this past weekend with a friend of mine who suffers from celiac disease. Most folks aren’t particularly optimistic about gluten-free food so we were mostly just happy they were close. Then we ate. Wow. I’m lucky and can eat pretty much anything I want, but I gotta tell you, this food was fantastic, period. We went there three times over the weekend. Breaded chicken strips, waffles, biscuits and gravy… all delicious and textured like the«real» dishes! If you’re lucky, you may be able to arrange a pizza be made for you! And if you live gluten-free, you know pizza is almost ways terrible if it’s made that way. Not here. Thick, chewy crusts and hearty toppings. I couldn’t tell the difference, honestly. It was great pizza by any account, not just because it’s celiac-friendly. I’d eat it over many pizza joints! Icing on the cake? The owners/operators are truly kind and considerate folks. The chef himself has celiac so you know it’s safe. My friend is incredibly sensitive to gluten and ate here all three times with absolutely no issues whatsoever(she had chicken and waffles and we shared a pizza). If you are tired of wierd textured substitutes and bland veggie and meat plates, you owe it to yourself to give the place a try. You won’t be disappointed!

Gareth and I tried coming here but it was closed. Their posted hours are different than their Unilocal page. There won’t be a next time since we were on a Foo(d) Fighters trip from Vancouver.

I ate here for the first time today, ordered the chicken and waffles and my goodness gracious… some of the best I’ve ever had. And to top it off… they’re GF! I feel great! The meal felt light and was very tasty. Having all gluten free ingredients they’re certainly not leaving out any flavor. I’m extremely satisfied with their food and the owners were sweet as can be! I’ve definitely found a new favorite place to dine. Hats off to GF Chef!!!

Fist visit to Portland and I am really impressed with the GF options in this city! If you are in portland, you must go to GF chef! I have not had chicken and waffles or biscuits and gravy in over a decade(because of being celiac) and this place was amazing! The biscuit texture was impressive and the sausage gravy was super tasty. The chicken strips that come with the chicken and waffles had a perfectly crispy crust with herbs in the seasoning that were delicious! The owners were also really friendly and the service was fast! I honestly cannot say enough goods thing about this food cart! Some of the best GF food I have had in my life!

We came to Portland on our honeymoon — WOW. We are from Des Moines and while there are some gluten free choices, there are none like the GF Chef cart. It’s situated in a quiet neighborhood that has a lot of foot traffic, and has some of the best gluten free food I have ever had. I ordered a dessert waffle and a coffee with(real) cream, my husband ordered the biscuits and gravy. Total: $ 14.00 + $ 3 tip = $ 17.00. The coffee was absolutely amazing. I requested medium roast instead of the dark they have outside, which she brewed fresh and gave me real cream. Absolutely delicious. The waffle was soft and the fruit spread they used was amazing. The biscuits came with brown gravy that almost tasted like chili, it was very unique and very delicious — my husband had finished them before I had a chance to give 5 stars on their facebook page! The next time we are in Portland, we will absolutely stop here!

I have to say that I was a bit concerned following our visit to the GF Chef in Portland. Don’t get me wrong, the food was out of this world, slap somebody delicious, in fact; however, my wife, who can only eat GF food, fell head over heals for this GF Chef man! It seemed like during our entire stay in Portland, all I heard was, «Weren’t those the most light and flavorful waffles you’ve ever tasted?»; «Wasn’t the fried chicken so tender and juicy? And what about the blend of spices in the coating? Have you ever tasted anything like it?»; «His biscuits are heavenly, too, aren’t they sweetie?» Like I said, I was a bit concerned, but then when I thought about it, my wife was completely right about her obsession with the GF Chef man. That was some of the best food I had had in a long time, and before I knew it, I realized that I wanted a bromance with this guy. I wanted him to come and cook for us every day! Alas, it was not to be as we had to head back home and could not convince the lovely GF Chef couple to come with us. We did grab a bag of «stud muffins» for the journey home so that our withdrawal symptoms from their food was not so intense. In all seriousness, this place is fantastic and the couple who operate it, do everything with great care, attention & love! Magnificent!

We stumbled across this food cart a few months ago and have tried more than a few of their offerings. We’ve generally stopped for a late breakfast or early lunch when traveling through Portland. Some of the menu items(the Waffle Cordon Blue, the Timmy, or the Melissa) are big enough to share, and the Waffle BLT is perfect for one person. The taste has been great on everything we’ve tried and it’s so nice to know that everything is gluten free with no chance of cross contamination. They also sell some of their mixes so you can try your own hand at waffles, biscuits, and fried chicken at home.

Being gluten-free is really tough, especially when your main staple used to be bread and the occasional waffle. My husband and I realized we had some serious allergic reactions to gluten and personally, I was distraught at the thought of no more fried chicken. Today, I learned that I no longer have to be sad because GF Chef makes the best GF fried chicken.ever. We both ate the GF chicken and waffles, which cost about $ 8/person and left us stuffed! Big portions so we were super happy about that. The owners even came out to find us sitting in a heated tent and personally asked how we liked it! Granted it wasn’t very busy, but still — that was great service! This place is a must-try for anyone whose mouth waters at the sound of chicken and waffles. We unfortunately don’t live here, but we will be back one more time before we head back to the not-so-gluten-free-friendly city of Phoenix.

I swear I used to eat healthy before I went gluten free — once the diagnosis was made I suddenly craved the cookies and cakes and fried foods I was no longer able to eat. When you’re gluten free, you miss comfort food sometimes. That’s what this place is. It is a food cart for people who are truly gluten free who miss the comforts of chicken fingers and french fries and waffles. This isn’t health food. This is SOUL food. The chicken fingers are amazing. Their sausage gravy is divine. Their jojos(twice fried potato wedges) are superb. Again, this isn’t health food. This isn’t everyday fare for those of us who may be watching our weight, but it delicious and wonderful and I’m so glad it’s there. The owners are lovely people, and I look forward to eating here.

Last Saturday(10⁄18) I finally found this cart… I am so glad that I did, it had been 4+ years since I was able to eat good fried chicken, and after reading all of the reviews I knew that this was a place I had to try. I am so glad that I did. Jim & Bonnie were the sweetest people & the fried chicken did not disappoint. I will be back for sure!!!

I was in the mood for a good gf sandwich, so I found this place on Unilocal.Turns out that they moved to the Rose City Food Park on 52nd and Sandy on Oct 1. They had a limited menu of breakfast sandwiches only because of the move. We ordered the biscuit sandwich with ham, eggs, and cheese. It took a while to get the sandwich, but it was worth it! The biscuit was deliciously fresh and it wasn’t too heavy. The texture was as close to a sandwich size biscuit as one could get, and there was no after taste like most gf breads. It could have used a bit more butter and salt, but it was a very good sandwich nonetheless. I’m looking forward to going back for their lunch items once they are up and running.
