Filled with treasures and dust. Don’t expect a ‘store’- definitely a fend for yourself space with loud noises and guys in overalls doing work. Lots of cool old chalkboards, bed frames, seats, tables, etc. Lots of fun to peruse and a must-​see for antiques junkies!

We paid a fair price for shelves made out of old scaffolding — we didn’t expect them to be pristine, but we expected more than this: the scaffolding was cut into three pieces. And there were unattached brackets. Full. Stop. Seeing what else was available and the price, we expected … shelves. The ends are not finished. The brackets were not attached. The spacers between the slats were not fixed — they spin in place. The scaffolding? Dirty and unfinished. What we have is the beginning of a project — not a finished product. Generally pretty uncool.

Very personable guy! Super nice and helpful with brainstorming for diy furniture projects. Prices are very reasonable and pieces are very unique.

I walked by on my way to a meeting, spotted two chairs that looked interesting, and I was immediately greeted and offered a sweet discount because I noticed one piece was missing. I said I’d think about it, came back by, the missing piece had been replaced, and the owner offered me an even better deal than before. I’m happy with the find, and I’ll go back again for another look around

THE place to go if you want some old door hardware. Neat and tidy. Easy to find things. Awesome place. Spendy but interesting mix.

It is clear to this recent customer of Grant’s that a lot of these reviews seem flavored more by a disapproval of Grant’s personality or lifestyle than by an honest evaluation of his performance as a business owner/​service provider. While I do believe that the choice of doing business with someone should ideally result from a thorough evaluation of both their business credibility and personal ethics (believe me: I did my research on Grant), it is obvious in this case that a couple [potentially unfair and misleading] online editorials are unduly coloring folks’ reviews of Grant. And many of these reviewers seem like they didn’t even consider doing business with him. Here is the truth: Grant is NOT a stuffy, old antiques dealer. He is a character. If you are looking for a quiet, mellow, mundane, boring antique shopping experience, his is not the store for you. But if you have a sense of humor, take life with a grain of salt, appreciate quirkiness and diversity, and want to buy furniture from someone who has a great eye for design AND will give you a fair price, Grant is your man. He gave me an extremely fair price on a table I love. I repeat: an EXTREMELY fair price. I think many Portlanders would agree with me when I say that I love this city because it’s a diverse and accepting place with a long list of interesting people. Add Grant to that list. Do yourself a favor and give him a chance; I promise he’ll surprise you.
(Sidenote: Does anyone really pay attention to street preachers? I thought the general idea was just to pass on by/​ignore or stop and laugh? If you’re upset by the words coming from a human carnival act on a street corner, I suggest you redirect your focus to more important things, or at least appreciate some shouting fool for what he really is: entertainment!)

Had Grant and James make a custom conference table for our new office. Everyone comments on the unique table and it fits our design perfectly. James even came to our office twice to level the table for us. Would highly recommend as the prices are fair and the work is top notch.

This store is great… It is full of real industrial finds so you have to have a big imagination and allow Grant to walk you through his ideas with custom work. Amazing collection of rare pieces — You could get lost in here for hours! What I loved most is that everything is a possibility and nothing is off limits… Grant is craving cool new projects. If you want a standard furniture experience, stick to west elm… But if you want a bada** true industrial piece and a very interesting character to sell it to you, this is your store. As for the prices, you’re not going to find cheaper next door… Let’s say that.

Grant made me some custom rustic tables and I couldn’t be more pleased. The price was right the turn around time was great and the tables are perfect. I will have him build more stuff for me.

Fantastic eclectic antique store! Amazing assortment of antique signs, furniture, clothing items, and even reclaimed wood. The owner is very helpful and willing to haggle to find a price with which both parties are pleased. It is a warehouse, so come dressed for the outdoor temperature. Happy hunting!

If you can’t appreciate an artist for being an artist and having some eccentricity then you likely know nothing about art or design. Grant is an artist and designer with the right eye for industrial and vintage style. His ability to connect with my own design senses –working together to create custom pieces for my home– is the mark of a real designer. I’m excited to collaborate with someone who knows how to envision repurposing with beauty and function in mind. And I just have to add that his eccentric and energetic personality is a delightful sign of a successful artist.

This guy has kept my custom made item for over 2 months and has not delivered or communicated as promised for over 2 months, after multiple calls. We went by the store front to finally collect our item and it was closed during business hours. We ironically ran into someone else who has not received their paid for item and has come by to a closed storefront multiple times. Be wary! Seems like it is on the outs…

Me and my boyfriend walk in and the first thing this Grant dude says to us is, «you guys look like you don’t have much money, but you like cool stuff. Now, I’m rich but I like helping people like you.» Then he proceeded to tell us how awesome he is at his job and bragged about all of the companies he has done work for. Good for you, man.
This guy may have some nice pieces, but he needs to work on his social skills.

Maybe you like his stuff, maybe you don’t. But at least know who you give your money to.

A cool shop with some interesting pieces (I even found one I was ready to take home) but my shopping was interrupted by what I will refer to as The Peanut Gallery (the store’s resident sign painter) offering some very unsolicited advice on WOMEN THESE DAYS. Who knew pickers were also authorities on women’s fashion! Peanut Gallery also had some strong opinions on what type of careers are worthwhile (he only respects people who «create things») and kept bothering me with questions about «my shitty hipster boyfriend»…Um, I was shopping alone not to mention that I’m married… to a medical professional…
Anywho, I’ve spent enough of my life as a woman being talked to by men who think being a d*ick is the best way to get attention to bother making a purchase at this store. Really, just an all around unpleasant experience.

While they have seriously cool finds if you dig, most things are not priced (which you will get a nod from the guy at the desk about when you walk in but it never seems to change despite promises that they «just got a ton of stuff in, we’re still working through pricing») Like 3 – 4 times what you can find them for at other area shops and estate sales.
If you have a lot of cash you are willing to part with and are looking for things salvaged from old warehouses, this is the place for you. Not a single price quoted to me or that I overheard in my visits were reasonable and though there were people in the store (including me) with cash in hand, looking to spend, bought anything.
A big disappointment. I really love some of their stuff. Evidently they do too– so much they want to keep it all! But a great place to wander and look at neat old stuff and dream about the projects you could do.
Lots of old metal head/​footboards, random carts, lockers, lights, and misc. junk.

The industrial district isn’t cheap and this shop does not disappoint! Amazing space and eclectic selection of vintage industrial. Glad they took oddities out of the name, seemed too contrived, plus nothing in the shop is all that odd.
Too expensive for this bargain hunter but a great shop for ideas or if you are looking to spend a fortune on something none of your friends have.

So, I’m going to buck the tide here, and say that I was disappointed. Yes the space is great, and yes there are lots of cool industrial things… but very little of it is usable. I also picked up a few things and walked out with filthy hands. I’m not in need of industrial sheets of metal or old chairs with holes in the seats. I need some real furniture and there wasn’t much here.

I have purchased a George Mulhauser chair, old vintage camping bench, burl wood table and old school Godzilla toy (with flying fists!) and couldn’t be happier with all of my purchases.
Not only does Grant have a discerning eye for finding those forgotten, unusual, and amazing pieces that add character to your home he is also a craftsman in his own right and can custom craft something just for you. If you are looking for a unique piece you need to check our Grant’s space asap. The only thing at risk is all your discretionary income! Excellent all around and gets my highest recommendation.

Cool store! They just moved into a new, huge space. Amazing prices compared to stories with similar items for sale. Because of the size of the new store, they have some stuff you would’t find elsewhere: huge signs, workspaces, and some sort of scooter.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the folks from Seek the Unique shop here, polish the furniture up a little bit, and sell it for 4x the price. In fact, maybe that’s what I should do…
