BEST hair ever by Paige! This girl is an artist and an amazing person … I had a massive red color correction from years of red build up. I had Slightly unrealistic ideas but during our consultation, and my hair confessions, Paige explained the importance of not damaging my hair to obtain the desired results, which I totally respect and am thankful to have such an honest amazing stylist. She took my hair to the most amazing multi dimensional strawberry blonde as well as the best texture and cut I have had since being in Portland. (Been to 3 salons in a year). She is also a pro barber too! Your man can get a great cut as well! Thanks Paige for being such a wonderful, knowledgeable stylist!

Joseph is the Best! I moved back to Portland after being away for a couple years and needed to find someone that could cut my hair. I have a lot of cowlicks and my hair likes to go different directions. Being a guy I don’t like to spend a lot of time in the morning trying to get my hair to look normal. My girlfriend recommended I try Joseph and she was right. I have seen Joseph for about 2 years now and every haircut is awesome. My hair looks great and very minimal time and product is needed to get ready in the morning. Also he turned me on to some hair product (clay) that I like much better than what I used before. Very Impressed!

Still have the keratin smoothing treatment done about every 4 months and very happy! Also since last update started having Alex do my color in addition to cut which she has always done. Color and Keratin are tricky…

I used a Groupon coupon to have the $ 99-​hair Keratin straightened by Paige Surma Sat, Jun-22−2013 — -order placed on March 15, 2013. Yep a few years back. I normally do not write reviews but I wanted to share just because out of many years of getting the brazilian K treatment done professionally this one was not the best.
I have very thick ethnic hair with mixed thin delicate hair. I asked her if the treatment application would take longer than the time she scheduled from 10am to 12noon to apply/​dry my hair? They said «yes 10 – 12 that the time would be more than enough. I know for a fact that to get my hair straightened/​dried, it takes a total of 4 hours (start to finish) and that’s if I get 2 people to blow dry my hair. My hair retains a lot of water btw plus it’s thick and coarse. It took her till 12:30 to finish, which was OK I was in no rush but she was booked back to back since of the groupon.
I saw the keratin treatment bowl and asked if that was enough product? she said «yes». Again from years of getting my hair done in NY, Korea town neighborhood, I know it takes about 2 – 3 bowls of that stuff to take effect on my hair.
Over all she was nice but I felt that the service was rushed, (I have tons of hair) The application plus the amount of product used in my hair was not enough. I knew that the amount of K product applied was stretching out and not fully covering my coarse hair, I knew that this treatment wouldn’t last.
I waited 3 days to wash my hair after the K treatment (with keratin treated hair products I bought at Hair Architects, the shampoo: Smoothing perfection $ 20.00 + Perfection Conditioner + $ 22.00 Perfection Hair Masque $ 20.00) and the entire back/​crown area of my hair became wavy again.
I had to fly out of the country a few days after so I didn’t have time to reschedule or call back to let them know.
For future I think it’s best to speak to your customers first or for you to communicate clearly with the stylist and talk about your hair/​history of styling on what works etc and make sure you get the time and the amount of product needed for your type of hair.
I wouldn’t recommend using a groupon at Hair Architects for ethnic latin hair.
In my opinion these Groupons are made specifically with the calculation of the amount of product that will be used in your hair, the calculations of the time it will take to apply it and then total amount of time it will take to style your hair (blow dry, flat iron). But it’s not considering ethnic hispanic hair, these groupons work best for normal/​thinner hair, untreated hair or virgin hair.

Real People! i tend to be picky about where i go for getting a men’s haircut and frequently feel out of place in salons. Hair Architects are super down to earth and easy to be around … i feel at home. Quick, great haircut and good conversation. Getting a great haircut doesn’t have to be a painful experience.

I recently moved to the portland area from Montana and one of my biggest fears was having to find a new hair stylist– I had been seeing the same stylist for 7 years in Montana. I went to Alex for a full highlight and layers, I am so happy with how everything turned out! The blonde was just what I asked for and the layers lay perfectly! She worked quickly and there was never any awkward conversation. Alex is so sweet and talented I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking to lighten their hair!

I have been going to Paige for my cut, and color for over 4 years now. She even colored my hair for my wedding and it couldn’t have been more perfect. 2 years ago, she suggested I try the Keratin Smoothing treatment as I have curly hair and constantly fight with it. Previously, it would take me over an hour to dry and straighten my chin length hair. Now, it takes me no more than 5 minutes to blow dry my mid-​back length hair and walk out the door and it is the only reason I can have LONG hair!!!- it is perfectly straight and lasts for about 2 months. AMAZING!!! I moved to Seattle a year ago and come down every 2 months just to have an appointment with Paige. I can’t find anyone in Seattle who is as competent, professional and reasonable as Paige and Hair Architects. Paige is a wonderful stylist: she goes above and beyond to make sure that I am happy with every part of my service. Just got back to Seattle from Portland this weekend, and of course– got my hair done! Totally worth the 3 ½ hour drive. Seriously.

Paige with hair architects is AMAZING! I have been going to her for a while now to get my hair done and she’s a genius when it comes to Pravana treatment. Now, it does seem like she’s learned the art or the tricks of applying Pravana and how long it needs to be kept, etc, much better now than she did when I went to her the first time. But as long as she’s working here, I’m going to continue going to Hair Architects and especially to Paige.
Just to give you a little bit of a background, my hair is wavy and extremely frizzy. But Pravana has made it SO much better. Paige explained to me how this treatment actually benefits your hair in the long run and doesn’t strip it of its natural protein but instead adds to it, And I have reaped the benefits of this treatment for the last two years. I have to go back every three months and Paige is very professional and extremely friendly during our hours-​long appointments! I look forward to my hair treatment!
My only negative feedback would be that they don’t have enough parking out in the front. I had to park in the adjacent street once. Its not a big deal for me but can be seen as the only downside to their location.

Went in to see Alex today for a much needed haircut. She was able to take a photo I brought and duplicate it perfectly. If you want a personable, professional, amazing stylist… must see Alex! I’ll definitely be back and recommend her and the salon to all my friends.

I used a Groupon I purchased for a keratin treatment 3 weeks ago for this salon, as I have just moved to Oregon. Please know, I have been doing keratin smoothing treatments every 3 months for the last 8 years so I am extremely aware of the outcomes of proper treatments and have never had a problem with keratin quality in the past.
The Groupon smoothing keratin treatment completely ruined my hair color and my (formerly dark brown) hair is now bright red and about 3 – 4 shades lighter than my pre-​keratin natural hair color. I have about ½ inch of roots and now need a color correction, which will cost at least $ 130.
I do not want to color my hair, I have been growing it out for 9 months now. Huge bummer.
I called Paige, who admitted her keratin absolutely alters hair color several shades. How in the world would anyone want that? I am baffled. And, there should be a disclaimer that their treatment will ruin your color, and actually cost you much more in the end to fix the color.
Outcome: The salon told me I should ask Groupon for a refund.

I am a big fan of this salon! I have been getting my hair cut by Paige for the past few months and could not be happier. In addition to having great service, they are super convenient in price and schedule. You can even book appointments through their website or the Vagaro mobile app. Love it!

I’ve been going to see Joseph for over a year now and couldn’t be happier! I love my haircuts with him! Friendly service, clean salon and reasonable prices.

I’ve been going to Dante for my hair coloring & cuts for several years! I’m always extremely happy with her work — so much so that I keep going back. She’s given me lots of good information about my hair, hair products; she listens to what I want to do & makes suggestions to make it happen. She’s pleasant, warm & friendly, with excellent customer service. The atmosphere is warm & welcoming, with coffee, tea or wine. And of course, Dante adds a bright, positive touch!
I also love Hair Architects website — I can make an appt. online any time of the day & get a confirmation via email instantly. They make everything very easy.

Molly/​Groupon for Facial
I had purchased 2 Groupons to try Molly for a facial for a friend and I.
We scheduled August 3^rd.
A cute salon. Molly was sweet and made me very comfortable, not rushed. She is experienced, yet gentle. Utilizes good quality products. The only suggestion I may make is while a product/​treatment is being applied during the procedure explain what it is and how it may benefit me. If I like a product I can make a not to myself to
possibly purchase it. This would be great for both myself and Molly!
We had pedis during the same visit, also.

I purchased a Groupon for Keratin treatment with Paige. I called to schedule an appointment and I had one in May. Someone called (I believed it was Paige) very apologetic gave me a reason to reschedule the appointment because she wasn’t able to make it (the exact reason I don’t remember). I had flexible time so I agreed to call back to schedule another one.
I called back yesterday (⁰⁶⁄₁₀) not knowing that the salon is closed on Mondays but still I left a message. I called again today (⁰⁶⁄₁₁) and I scheduled the appointment with the help of other person.
Later on, Paige contacted me to let me know that back in May according to her records, I was a no show and her policy was when this is the case is to void the deal.
I told her that I was not a no show and in fact I agreed to reschedule the appointment because she needed to. Very rudely and unprofessionally she told me that she did not remember any of this, that she did not have that in her records that she was going to talked to her manager about it and she was going to get back to me at the end of the day.
I got very upset and told her that it was very disrespectful because in other words she made it seen that I was making up a story. I said to her that I needed to talk to her manager and she hang up on me.
Never had my treatment because I complained with Groupon right away and they gave me my refund.
I will not try to go here again!

I purchased a Groupon for a Japanese straightening treatment from Paige. I went on the 13^th to have the straightening done.
I am a minimalist when it comes to my hair — no color, no real time spent on it. So I was hoping that this permanent straightening would help me control my crazy frizzy waves yet not be a maintenance burden either.
Paige was really cool all the way through the process. She explained to me what we would be doing, took time to make sure I hadn’t done any chemical processing on my hair previously (so as not to mess up my hair or alter the outcome unexpectedly).
The whole process took about 2 hours and did not smell quite as bad as I had feared. She worked very quickly but competently, we talked and laughed about an whole range of conversation topics and I felt that her attention was all on me and my hair for the duration of the appointment.
She gave me clear instructions as to how to care for my hair in the 5 day period after the treatment (don’t get it wet, straight out any kinks as soon as you can, etc) and even let me borrow one of her flat irons, since I didn’t own one and wasn’t sure I would need one.
And even though I did not schedule a haircut with the treatment, I asked her to cut the dry ends off, and she gave me a great haircut in addition (and only charged me 30 $ which is a great price in town).
It’s been a week, so I’ve washed my hair once since the treatment, and I am absolutely amazed at how pretty and MANAGEABLE it is, even on day 1 of washing it.
I have been getting tons of compliments, and I feel like my hair better reflects my personality, instead of just being a crazy mess that I always want to pull back.
I am never sure about trying a new salon, and I wasn’t willing to pay the full price on the straightening treatment without knowing what to expect for my crazy hair. Suffice it to say, I will be back to Paige for future hair services. I was totally impressed.

I have been going to see Paige Surma for my hair for nearly a year now. WOW! What a great stylist! I had the pleasure of meeting Paige at her former place of employment, and the job she does on my hair is impeccable each and every time! She makes it an experience, rather than just another haircut. From her friendly demeanor, down to suggestions to what might look great on my dome, I will dearly miss my friend Paige when I move to Seattle this weekend. :(
Another thing she offered to do for me was to tell my new stylist when I move exactly what to do to my hair to keep it looking Paige fresh! What other stylist would do that for you?!
That brings me to Sharon V’s one-​star rating on Paige. Granted, I do go to Paige for a men’s cut, so it is not as involved as something as a Keratin treatment. What I do know is that I’ve been going to Paige exclusively for nearly a year now, and that’s for a good reason — she treats her job like an art form and not just a job. She is always friendly and happy when I go to see her and is very fairly priced, especially for the caliber of service she provides. You really seem like a bitter person, Sharon, and if others look at your profile on Unilocal,they will see that there is only one 5 star rating and the rest are 1 star ratings that you have provided on an array of businesses.
I’ll have you know that I am in the service industry myself. When someone like you posts a one star review, it is generally to get something for free from the vendor. People like you are nothing new and it’s a sad game you play. I hope that you learn something from someone who can see right through you, because believe me, I do. I wonder what rating you’ll give Aveda after you go there to get your color redone. I wonder if you’re really going there just to get another color because you didn’t like the one you ended up with in the first place. You’re just another person with nothing better to do with their time than post numerous bad reviews for the sake of making yourself feel better about who you’re not — a successful and contributing member of society.
Don’t let people like this get you down, Paige. Steven has your back!

Used a Groupon coupon to have hair straightened by Page. She talked me into a Keratin Straightening. I had paid for a Japanese total straightening as I had before. Keratin requires less work and was less expensive. She kept the extra $ 50 as a future gift certificate. Previously, straightened colored hair 3 times including by myself without change in color. Paige said the keratin was safer. I had told her I had my hair colored one week before straightening as was my practice. Paige did not mention that my color could be stripped by the Keratin process. Recently colored brown hair now brassy auburn instead of chestnut brown.
Called salon. Spoke to stylist. No apology. No offer of color repair. Told to call my own stylist for repair even though I still have $ 50 credit with salon. Bought most expensive straightening treatment talked into cheapest with monetary difference pocketed by stylist. Also, bought $ 100 of hair products. Will never go back to Hair Architects or Page.
Have a hair color repair scheduled at Aveda so that Naomi can fix my hair color. Very poor business not standing behind work at Hair Architects, not informing client that color at risk and instead Paige saying it was a safer process when I told told her I just had it colored at Aveda salon, before straightening process began. I I really regret going to this salon and unscrupulous stylist.
Silly to offer coupon to develop clientele and then treat a customer like this. Especially, one that uses many expensive services and buys salon products.

I highly recommend this hair salon. Excellent quality service; hair; hair color; you name it! Even down to the coffee, tea or wine they will serve you. Back to hair.
All the stylists are excellent. I recommend the lovely gal Alex who was trained by the previous owner Jon Nickell, a great stylist who moved to Arizona. I started with Jon and miss him but he knows how to train his staff!
Alex knows her stuff and gets the job done!

Went here because I bought a great groupon for shellac nails and a pedicure for only $ 35!
I prefer when nail services are offered in a private room. Very comfy sich for the pedicure where I was able to screw around on my phone while my tootsies got cute again. I also really love it when spas offer you a drink. Several drinks :)
It seems that this place is a full service salon for those wanting to get there hair dialed in as well.
Also really loved how easily accessible it was to reserve an appointment on hair architects website.
Kinda out of my way, but I’d recommend this place to others.
