Back again from out of town and superbly pleased. The presentation was very impressive. And, again, the service… wow. Truly, service doesn’t get any better than this. Highly recommend.

WOW. By far my favorite vegan restaurant. Cool atmosphere with good service and BEAUTIFUL wholesome food with creative flavor combinations you would never expect but completely delight your taste buds. The plating was gorgeous, like something you would see in a fancy cooking magazine. Each dish brought to our table was a piece of art. We got totally full(but didn’t feel gross) and the bill was so small! Another impressive thing was the chef(a very amiable and interesting man named Sean) came out during the meal to see how we were doing and told us some more cool information about the food! Overall, a fantastic experience and I would come back and visit Portland again just to eat here.

This is quite possibly the best restaurant in all of Portland! The food, the ambiance, the service, the owner, and the character of the place all made for one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Thank you for such an amazing place. We will be back soon. :-)

Great casual vegetarian food. It’s been delicious every time we’ve gone.

My husband had been looking forward to trying out harvest for several months so we came by at 6:30 on a Friday, with just a few other tables seated. We were seated promptly and ordered drinks and food at the same time because we were both starving. The drinks came fast and were fine. The food however took so long that we debated leaving. The tricky thing was that people who came after us were getting all their plates and paying the bill before we got anything beyond our first course. I started to sugar crash and asked how long it would take and the server seemed annoyed and said«we are not a fast food restaurant.» The cornbread was the best thing we had– the carrots tasted like they were just boiled and served and the asparagus morel dish was nothing special and kind of cold by the time it came to us. The gratin was okay, but not worth $ 15. We won’t be back, unfortunately.

I called the restaurant on Friday hoping to get a reservation for the same night, assuming it was probably impossible at that point and kicking myself for being so stupid. Surprisingly, they had tons of tables open. I was worried it wasn’t going to be that good because where were all the people on a Friday night? Doesn’t matter. This is THEBEST higher end vegan restaurant food I have experienced to date. Yes, that is a very specific niche and how many higher end vegan establishments have I dined in? Doesn’t matter. They use organic, locally sourced produce in flavor pairings that you couldn’t come up with in your wildest dreams(sorry) but are absolutely amazing. We ate everything together and it all somehow magically went together like they expected you to order one of everything. Our server was awesome. I don’t know her name but she had dark hair and bright lipstick. She checked on us with perfect timing and just seemed overall genuine and happy, witty and charming. My ONLY complaint was that the restaurant felt a little too casual for the menu. I guess this could be a positive in some peoples’ minds as there’s no pretentious vibes, but it just felt a little too well lit and the classic rock didn’t seem to mesh here. Normally I like casual, but I wanted the atmosphere to feel as special as the food. The fake candles didn’t do the 5 star meal any justice, but I will be back again and again for the amazing food and service!

YES! The food here is divine! So refreshing to get creative veg/vegan eats that are truly lovely plant-based fresh foods as opposed to things trying to be meat or cheese. Can’t wait to come back here! Ordered spaghetti squash, chicory appetizer, beets, the mushroom pâté and more. Love!!!

Went to harvest for Portland Dining Month. Half of our party showed up later than the first half and weren’t greeted or offered a drink or anything for about 15 mins. Our drinks took forever and the food took like 45 mins. They brought the complimentary cornbread out right before our first course which we really could have used while we were starving for the first hour. The food was mediocre and we were never asked how it was by the server. This was our second time here and as the service was lacking it brought back memories of a similar situation last time. Might try brunch sometime but really doubt we’ll be back. There are definitely much better options for plant based foods or restaurants in general in Portland.

Sometimes I doubt that the universe loves me, and then I find a place like Harvest. I know it wasn’t created just for me, but it sure felt that way when I recently tried it for dinner. I made a reservation for one at 5:30 so I could bop in after work, grab a light meal and a drink, and get takeout for Friday lunch. I’ll not go into how good the consumables were because other reviews cover that. But in addition to the culinary delights, Harvest had superior service, comfortable seating(no hard chairs to insult my delicate bum), and – get this – sound-buffering panels on the ceiling! Noise-reduction devices are a sorely needed feature at way too many places in this town. It’s Portland Dining Month, and I could have accepted a gratis glass of wine with my entrée, but a cocktail was plenty. I think I’ll go back next Thursday and take them up on the offer, though. In fact, I might make Thursdays after work at Harvest my standing solo date.

One of my favorite dinner places in Portland! The complimentary corn cake at the beginning of the meal was a fantastic introduction to the exceptional service and flavorful dishes that this place offers. My boyfriend and I ordered the Green Goddess, Roasted Carrots, Rosemary Potato Cake(twice!), Braised Greens, White Beans, Spaghetti Squash, and, for dessert, the Chocolate Hazelnut Torte. We were extremely impressed with every plate we got! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates culinary creativity.

I cannot explain the wonders that happened in my mouth enjoying my first brunch here.(I had the risotto cakes with roasted veggies and hollandaise). Oh, I will be back! For every other vegan, organic delicious meal I can possibly stuff in my mouth that they make. Everyone at our table loved their food and said they could have eaten at least 2 plates of what they ordered. The service was great, swift, and friendly. The ambiance was nice. Basically I have nothing but good to say!

I am not a vegan but I like new places so I gave this place a try. The room was very warm and friendly. The food was delicious and the staff comforting. I had the Spatzel and would have it again. I am happy I stopped by. Albert

Ugh this place kills me. I love that I can eat everything on the menu AND everything on the menu is crazy good. Today we went in for the weekend brunch — we had been in for dinner before, so we were expecting good things. We weren’t disappointed. My husband got the fall hash and I got The Benedict. Both were great, but my Benedict was better than his hash. If you’re expecting a regular Benedict with Canadian bacon and traditional hollandaise, this will not fit your vision. However, this version comes with house made seiten, kale, squash, and a vegan version of a hollandaise like sauce. It was so so good. If you haven’t been here yet, let me remind you that life is short and there’s no point in eating mediocre food when this place exists. I’d recommend Harvest to anyone, vegan or not.

During our group retreat to Portland, we thought we should experience some of the«local flavor» by going to a vegan restaurant! Alas, I kept on calling around and no other vegan place would take reservations for our big group(most of them seem to be kind of small), until… Harvest at the Bindery! Most of us are meat eaters(myself included) but appreciate all types of food, if done well. Which this one does! Rather than serving banal dishes and simply replacing the meat with fried gluten, seitan, or even tofu, this one has a menu based almost entirely on vegetables and mushrooms. The flavor, texture, and look of the vegetables are integrated into the recipe and presentation. We ordered a bunch of different appetizers and plates to share. Of the appetizers, the potato cakes, mushrooms, and corn(with a vegan cream sauce) were the standouts. Of the mains, the pulled trumpet mushroom BBQ dish was particularly good! The texture emulated pulled pork perfectly, the taste was a very meaty BBQ mushroom taste, and it was served on an interesting wooden boat with other veggies and potatoes. Another standout was the tamale, which had a tasty and ever so slightly spicy green sauce! The bouillabaisse and farro were less spectacular; the bouillabaisse tasted fine but was missing something – this one seemed to be a substitution dish(as bouillabaisse is typically a seafood dish) with an omission rather than substitution, unlike most of the other dishes where the veggies were the main star. The farro was just plain. Good local beers on tap, especially the Pfriem IPA. Pricing is a little higher than other vegan restaurants, but you get what you pay for! Friendly service and really cute building.

On our last day in PDX, my friends and I decided to have brunch at Harvest at the Bindery as it came highly recommended by some of our vegan friends that lived in the area. Apparently, the Bindery used to be a book binding shop and is now transformed into a beautiful urban space in North Portland that houses the vegan restaurant, a winery, and several other shops. I wanted to check out some of the shops but sadly they were closed on Sunday. We specifically traveled to PDX to attend the Vegan Beer & Food Festival the day prior so it was pretty cool running into friends everywhere we went. As we walked into Harvest, we saw several of our friends having brunch and they were all raving about the Benedict. My dining companions decided to go for the recommendation and order the Benedict(housemade seitan, smoked onion, greens and hollandaise on a biscuit). I opted for the Hash Brown Casserole with roasted vegetables and greens(locally dug potatoes, cashew cream and herbs). I had a few bites of my friend’s benedict and it was delicious! The restaurant did a great job on the biscuit and sauce. My Hash Brown Casserole was amazing! It was like crispy mashed potatoes with a white wine herb sauce with perfectly cooked roasted veggies. Harvest really knows their sauces. I’m getting hungry just thinking about my meal there! As far as the service, it was great! I also thought it was cute how the grandma worked there and she often came to our table to chat with us and find out if we were okay. Loved the family owned vibe. I would definitely come back next time I’m in PDX!

A gem of a place– all vegan + gluten-free, and and no fake or processed ingredients. It’s in a kind of unlikely building that seems office-y but the atmosphere is pretty nice once inside. We went for brunch and were quite pleased with the miso grits(more soupy than grit-like) and the BBQ pulled trumpet mushroom sandwich. The sweet potato side was amazing. The French toast was pretty good(coconut cream!!!) but since neither of us is gluten-free we thought it’d be pleasant to be able to opt-out of the gluten-free bread option. Very pleasant brunch, and I feel like it’s kind of a well-kept secret so far. The dinner menu looked fantastic!

The wait: for a table, for your order, for your re-order is loooong. That said, the servers were great. Food cornbread with hazelnut butter was my favorite. I just didn’t connect with the popular Squash Carbonara I did enjoy the baked beans. $ 3 Limeade is a deal, $ 10 cocktails are not. Lastly, the chocolate hazelnut torte with awesome crust was much better than expected. Prasad and Harlow are still tops for me, as is Natural Selection for high-end V dining.

Great little vegan spot that doesn’t focus on being«vegan» — just on really great food made from the freshest vegetables. Sure, it’s a little pricey, but you are paying for quality dishes. Make sure to get the roasted carrot dish if they have it, epitome of perfection.
