I didnt even know that paint stripping guys were still around.
I looked it up after I tried stripping 2 doors with heat and chemicals. What a friggin mess.
After evaluating all of the time and money I wasted on it I will never do it again. Now I will always include professional stripping into my budget when renovating or refinishing furniture. Plus they pick up and deliver which saves even more time.

We had 2 bedroom doors and 2 sets of four French doors «stripped» by Houck’s. We paid them more than $ 1700, yet they did a very poor job of cleaning paint out of the crevices and they scratched the glass on the French doors. All of the doors required hours and hours of additional work to clean up the paint. Houck’s claimed they couldn’t clean out the paint from the crevices without damaging the wood, but when we started bringing doors to *Timby’s Dip & Strip*, they managed to clean out the paint without damaging the wood or glass. I was quite dissatisfied with Houcks. I don’t understand why so many people recommend them; they are the most expensive dipping place and they do the worst job in my experience.
