His a great practitioner, but has horrible time organization. I am told he comes in late and I have waited upwards of two hours past my visit time before.
Today it is going on over 45 minutes. In my book this unacceptable. I don’t think I can come back again.

I cannot comment on Dr. Illo’s expertise, but colleagues tell me he is number one. I am urging him to change his current habit of making people wait almost 2 hours in the first visit to be seen. I walked out after the 2 hours and wasted a morning. If you are good at your profession, please please see people in a timely manner so we can benefit from it.

Unless you want to wait for more than an hour and then still not be seen, this is not a match for you.

Hands down, the very best chiropractor in the area. His techniques are highly specialized — no neck cracking, no twisting you into bazaar positions — very targeted manipulations that get right at the heart of the problem. I came to Dr. Illo for a second opinion after getting an MRI and intensive treatment plan for from another doctor. He freed me of extreme, chronic pain in a couple visits. I send everyone I know here and have hear nothing but praise and relief, including from those who have been in treatment elsewhere for years with no results.
Their scheduling will drive you crazy, but people are willing to wait for good reason. Ask the sweet ladies at the front desk to help you choose an appropriate appointment time, and call ahead.

A skilled chiropractor who has reduced my need for chiropractic care the longer I go. In other words, in over 15 years my neck has improved, given me less pain, and needed less care. That’s worth a lot. I’m giving four stars because his scheduling is ridiculous. He runs notoriously late, so much so it’s almost comical. However his new office staff does allow you to call ahead check if he is running behind, and show up later so you don’t sit in the lobby too long.

Dr. Illo is one of the few upper cervical chiro specialists in Portland, and he’s the guru. Rather than general neck manipulation which most chiropractors are trained to do, he does the NUCCA method which is very specific adjustments that are made to target the problem segment of your neck, which is what’s needed in upper neck problems. He also specializes in atlas adjustments which is an art form in itself. Yes, he often runs late, however, the staff is very candid in pointing out to all their patients to call 30minutes ahead and find out the real time when you’ll be seen so the wait could be minimized… he’s worth it.

Dr. Illo is the best chiropractor out there. He has great bedside manner and an expert in his field. I trust his skill and his counsel. He is thorough, and does a complete assessment before he treats. I rate a chiropractor by how often I need to see him (the less the better)…After my initial round of appointments for about 2 months, I see him maybe once a year. Only downside is how long you have to wait to see him. sometimes more than 1 hour wait time. Call before your appointment time to find out how behind he is running.
