Islabikes

We dropped by with kids to ride their test bikes and figure out best fit. Becky was knowledgeable and helpful. We got two bikes and will pick them up about 5 days after purchasing. My kids were FLYING around the warehouse. They are incredible excited about these bikes. While testing them out, they were already figuring out and using the handbrake which was great. They also, unprompted said, ‘hey look, I can lift it up’.
I had been trying to find light bikes for our kids for a while. I found one that was 19lbs, but it was $ 500, way too expensive for us to afford. We settled on the Trek Jet 12″ which weights about 26 lbs. My kids weight 33 lbs, so not ideal, but all I could find at the time. Then we stumbled across Islabikes online.
At the test ride it was everything we could want. Easy for me to pick up and carry around (even with a kid). The kids LOVED them. They are fast, light, well made, easy to ride, and just REALLY REALLY REALLY well thought out. The chain is covered, there is a coaster & a hand brake. I was worried that our tiny twin 4yo would have trouble with the hand brake, but these have been specially designed for kids, so neither of me kids had any issues using the brake. In fact, they started using it during the test ride.
At home now, they are easily biking up hills that they were never able to get up before. They are flying around. These bikes are BEAUTIFUL also. I love the new 2014 red color. We are recommending to everyone we know.

It would be hard to overstate how well the CNOC 14 has worked out for our 4-​year old. She rides it to school most days, and has great control with the handbrake. I was looking at the Specialized Hotrock, but that’s a lot heavier and comes in 12″ and 16″ wheel sizes, vs the 14 which was a perfect fit for us. If you’re in PDX, spring for the fenders. Appointment only, so plan ahead.
