Jantzen Beach Bar & Grill

One of our favorite places for breakfast! Actually dinner and lunch as well. It’s within walking distance from our home and because we live on the island, residents get 20% off their meal. We love that!!! Keep up the great work!

So to start the host was awkward and seemed annoyed, at what I’m not sure. But his attitude was immediately rectified by our server Kara, she was awesome! Attentive and very friendly. The food is hit and miss, the flautas are crispy but the flavor is lacking, as is the salsa. The blackened chicken on the salad however is great! Speaking of which, the salad is fresh and crisp. Overall the experience was pleasant and the food pretty good, especially for a hotel restaurant.

Service was fast and efficient. Kara took good care of our drinks and checked back often. Food was good, not change your life awesome, but no complaints. I would go back, and a thank you to Kara for the service.

Gross. Salmon was disgusting. Just go get food from the Safeway if you’re desperate for a meal. It will be better there

Just spent a week at this Red Lion for a business meeting and the bar and restaurant were the best part of the stay. I did not eat breakfast here, but lunch, dinner, and cocktails were great! I didn’t have anything there I didn’t like. I also felt that we received really good service. My husband and coworkers felt the same.

I really wasnt happy with the blackened shrimp alfredo. Really salty. Had to sent it back but it came back still salty. I had high hopes for this place but maybe I shouldnt have.

Just had the worst burgers ever at this place and to top it off the manager wants me to pay for the food that I won’t eat cuz it’s burnt !!! Way to go red lion

Rainy day so decided to stay and eat here at the Red Lion… breakfast Chorizo scramble was very good, plus nice view of Columbia River. Clean, friendly staff and table next to us entertaining, from Nautilus exercise equipment!

Met up with a bunch of friends, had a great ribeye steak, nice drinks, some appetizers, beautiful view of the river and the lights of Vancouver, had a wonderful time with all our friends!

Perfect for a special dinner. We sat outside and the river view and bridges were mind blowing. Waitress was very courteous and the food was alright.

I normally steer clear of 3 Unilocal starred restaurants but the dungeoness crab and lobster Benedict was unbelievable. You could taste the big chunks of crab and lobster so you know it’s fresh. The homemade English muffin was phenomenal and the egg was perfectly. This dish was definitely enough to share. I’d love to grab a drink here at sunset. They look like they have a pretty good whiskey selection. This meal paired with the views of the Columbia River and bridge was an awesome breakfast at a fair price.

My family and I had driven hours to get to our destination in Portland. We checked in at the Red Lion hotel and then decided we wanted a drink. We were tired so we decided to go to this bar and what a mistake that was. It was 10pm and I asked for a blended margarita to which the bartender Joanne told me that she already put the blender away and could not make me the drink. Are you kidding me?! When a bar says it’s open until 11 you’d think they would not put away the blender until closing. I was so disappointed and the bartender Joanne was so flippant about it.

Horrible food. Basically sent most of it back. Old lettuce, fishy smelling crab cakes over cooked dry ass chicken. I could go on and on, but you get the pic.

The view is fantastic, and there’s a patio, so that’s been established.
My family really enjoyed the crab cakes, we love that they’re made with Dungeness crab. Fish and chips were great, they use PNW cod, and yes as stated before the fries are good. We really liked the fish batter. I had the pear salad and added chicken, so good! They use Rouge Creamery blue cheese, if you haven’t had it, it really is the best. Someone’s putting some thought into this menu. Cocktails were good, wine and beer list were well thought out as well. Excellent choices are offered especially pertaining to the venue.
I thought it was funny someone complained about the noisy hotel guests, since the restaurant is in a hotel, people that are staying can have food and delicious cocktails without having to drive, and they’re enjoying conversation with each other, weird.
Downsides, décor is desperately in need of an update. Our server was so very good for all of our meal, incredibly attentive, until the end when she was left alone and got stuck behind the bar. It can be hard to give outstanding service if you’re stretched to thin. End of the meal our plates were still in front of us (pet peeve) and we went to the bar to pay.
That might be a little nit picky, all in all we were pleasantly surprised and would dine there again over all other choices on the island.

We went here last night for dinner and it was AMAZING! The view of the water and the bridge as we ate dinner was breathtaking. The food was plated beautifully as well as tasted awesome; and the cocktails were perfect. The waiting staff were very nice and pleasant. We will definitely be returning to try their breakfast menu!

Stopped in for a drink with the misses. Empty dining room and still took the bartender a good 5 minutes to recognize us. About 10 minutes into my drink the waiter came back to make a drink for someone else. Sprayed me in the face with seltzer. I understand mistakes and accidents happen but what got me the most was the guy didn’t even apologize. He just stated «oh I got Ya there didn’t I». Yea… you did.

Fantastic view of the river — great service and awesome breakfast! I had the crab and she mip cakes with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce and It was amazing. My friend has the bacon dipped in pancake batter and then friend– what a great invention.

You HAVE to stop in for dinner! We were staying next door and wanted to grab a bite close by, found it on Unilocal.We asked for a table by the windows, looking out over the water and were seated on the last one — beautiful views!
Kids food came out first and they dug in! Our waiter, Chris, was entertaining and on top of things. The food was worth the wait, which was a little long as the kids stuff came out right away. I appreciated the service because the kids kept busy eating while we waiting for our entrees.
The romaine salads with cucumber remoulade was fresh and a great starter. I had the pasta vongole and wished I had room for more! The clams were perfect, the pasta and cream sauce was perfect, and there was way more bacon than should be legal but it didn’t overpower the meal. My husband has the ribeye which was cooked to perfection and it was soft and tender.
Again, you HAVE to stop in and sit in Chris’ section … You get dinner and entertainment for a reasonable price!

So very disappointing. After many holidays and brunches, I am sorry to say that this facility has gone down the tubes. Only being confirmed by their desperate attempt at participating in Group On. The kiss of death.
My party arrived promptly on Christmas day. To be ignored and not properly received. Even after mentioning the slight to the MOD, the bad attitude was not addressed.
After going through the buffet for a SECOND time only, we arrived back to our table completely cleaned off. Upon seating ourselves a random server did address our table by returned the used utensils and half used glasses on her tray back to our table. WHAT the HECK??? WE HAD TO REQUEST CLEAN REPLACEMENTS.
Food was good. MOD and all but 2 of the staff was horrible.
The table next to us had 2 more people in their party and paid less then us because they had the group on deal. BTW, the MOD came to their table twice to check on them. He NEVER checked on our table. Even though we complained and then were cleaned and cleared only to have a server try to give us dirty used utensils and drinks.
So sad to see something that was once so great be let go by poor management.
