Kbc Management

I lived in Jeanne Manor for about 4 years. I have had mixed experiences renting in Portland and other major cities (one particularly horrible experience). But our time at Jeanne Manor with KBC was hands down THE BEST rental experience I have had. We only moved because we finally decided to leave the rental world and buy a house.
Nina, our building manager and Patrick, her right hand man, work tirelessly to keep the building clean and well maintained. Any repair request I made was responded to quickly. Nina’s communication about inspections, policies and other business matters was always professional and in writing. Those things alone are enough to recommend KBC and specifically Jeanne Manor to potential renters.
What’s really phenomenal though, is that both Nina and Patrick work hard to get to know their renters. They’re kind, friendly, just plain awesome. They make Jeanne Manor feel like a community. It’s no wonder that they have many long term renters in that building. Anyone renting a space in Jeanne Manor is very lucky to have such phenomenal leadership at the helm.
KBC should award Nina and Patrick a medal (or a raise)! Renting is difficult and it’s only getting harder in Portland. If you find a building managed by someone like Nina, you should know that you are a very lucky individual.

Update: this issue has been, thankfully resolved. So i changed my rating…
Iam so disappointed in KBC management. Poor communication and unethical financial practices. We have been trying to speak to someone there for over 2 weeks and have no call back. Great location, but bad business. Yikes. This is just one example.
Bottom line (to save boring story below):DONT RENT FROM THEM!!!
My husband and I are renting an apartment in NW (Amberley Apartments). We were unjustly fined $ 250 for having smoke detector on the shelf (because they provided the building with faulty sensitive ones that go off all the time). We had mentioned that the detectors go off without smoke and the building manager said they all do and told us to open our windows. Ummm, ok. Even if it goes off randomly in the middle of the night, which freaks us out. We hadnt even removed batteries, just had the dumb things where we could turn them off when they go off like crazy

The person below must work for KBC because its a total joke.
I have never written a review for a management company before, however I feel I need to warn people about this company. I rented at 819 NW 23^rd ave apartments for one year. The problem came with move out. They gave me a long list of things to clean before move out, I did so. Spent hours cleaning. They charged me 45 dollars for cleaning the carpets and it was never stated that they needed to be steam cleaned upon exit. Then they charged me 132 dollars to remove hair and «rubber bands» from the drain. I am a guy with short hair and my girlfriend who lived with me for 9 months also had short hair. The drain was never an issue, it did drain a bit slow at times but never so slow that I needed to call the manager to fix it. If there were rubber bands in the drain they were there from the previous tenant, and to be charged 132 dollars to remove this crap is unacceptable. I am considering legal action but it may not be worth it. Just avoid their buildings. The upper managers who are not on site will not return your phone calls and if you do manage to contact them they are pretty rude. Also 819 is extremely loud, which isn’t a big deal if you only factor in the noise from NW 23^rd ave, but when you add in the idiot tenants most of whom are trust fund kids that throw parties in the middle of the week and the manager who is too much of a flake to do anything about it, then prepare not to get sleep.

I lived in a KBC building for a year in NW portland just off 23^rd. They have the most unique apartments and work hard to maintain the vintage charm of the buildings. My place had black and white tiles in the kitchen and bathroom, hardwoods throughout, crown molding, claw foot bathtub, and crystal door handles. They usually have a live-​in super who will materialize in some form of chill hipster. KBC was always very quick to respond to any issues. Of course, you get what you pay for. Rent is steep, but you will always be the friend with the best apartment in the best location.
