You want to buy a house so you’re looking through Unilocal reviews to find a good realtor. STOP AND READ THIS ONE! Julie might save your marriage and your sanity!
I’m the first person to write a review for Julie on Unilocal.This does not surprise me, since Julie has lived in Portland for fewer than 2 years. This in no way should deter you from using her.
Here’s why we took a chance on using someone «new to the area» and why you should, too:
1. Julie has a brain. She’s a former corporate negotiator, thinks quickly, and doesn’t want your time wasted.
2. Julie’s dad was a contractor. The woman gets houses. When you are deep in LaLa Land fantasizing about a «great» house, she will roll a quarter across the floor to show you how the foundation is slanted and will get you the f*** out of there before you have time to get emotionally attached.
3. Julie is flexible. We’re originally from Cleveland. Julie is originally from Chicago. Some Portland realtors drove us nuts because they are life-​long Portlanders who focus so narrowly on one neighborhood that they are not that flexible. We wanted to cast a wide net. Julie was willing to drive around with us over a pretty big geographic area. If you’re looking for the right *house* more than *the* neighborhood, she gets that.
4. is a ****ing fantastic listener. When it comes to spending your life savings, this is something you want and need. I had emotions I wasn’t expecting pop up. My husband had emotions he wasn’t expecting pop up. We put in an offer on a house we loved and the sellers were nuts and didn’t actually want to sell and we had to start all over. Multiple times during our search, we were so frustrated with each other that we almost threw in the towel. Julie was able to listen to each of us, individually, and keep pushing forward to find a house that met both of our needs, which we didn’t think was possible.
We’ve lived in our house for almost six months now. We love it. Julie has continued to keep in touch and help us.
I’m sure her client base will grow rapidly as the word gets out. Get her now while the getting’s good!

I am thankful for certain aspects of our experience, and I now live in a place that I am proud to call home. But I want to help others so they are aware. Knowledge is empowerment, and as a homebuyer (especially first time homebuyer) you will need it.
On the first house we looked at Karolyn failed to do many important things. The disclosures, late and incomplete, which she should have called out. Seller home inspection, late and only delivered after several request of her. She is a former remodelor and builder yet see didn’t point out that the roof was in shambles, clearly visible from below, or the multitude other issues. There were 29 issues with this house, include 5 major items (roof, siding, furnace, foundation, and grading). Karolyn verbatim verdict on what she thought of this house and thoroughly walked through it with us was, «This is a solid house». Then that same day had us sign the agreement to buy the house.
I take responsibility for my part, perhaps I could have elaborated on how little we have to spend on repairs but I did tell her «We have very little» and moreover, I feel this is something she should have asked us. Perhaps more disturbing is that even after saw all the multitude of flaws instead of acknowledging and agreeing, she defended the Seller, minimizing the poor condition of the home, and was dismissive of the substandard repairs that been performed.
My mother-​a former realtor, asked her about certain things she became defensive of the Seller and the current state of the property. At one point my mother asked, matter of factly, «are you representing the Buyer or the Seller». She became defensive and asked to end the conversation. My mother pleaded with me to switch realtors, as she felt Karolyn didn’t have my best interest in mind and was not performing due diligence by protecting us as Buyers. But I defended Karolyn and told her I would stick with Karolyn.
As if that wasn’t enough, Karolyn pressured us into putting in a bid on a second home, one neither of us were really excited about. But she made us felt like we no options and this was the best we could do. The house had three bedroom but all were very small, there was only one bathroom and adding another wasn’t even possible due to the layout, and there were two major structural issues. All in all, not the home for us, and we told her what we wanted in the beginning. Luckily, the transaction didn’t work out and, we switched realtors and found the home for us soon thereafter. I am not making the statement that Karolyn is the worst or even that she won’t work for you, but what I am saying is this:
She did not look out for our interest, she pressured us into buying houses that didn’t fit our needs or were in poor condition, and seemed highly motivated to make every transaction close — no matter what we wanted or needed.

I have had the privilege to work with Cricket Forsey as a home buyer, seller, and employee over the past two years and have no lack of wonderful things to say about her. Cricket knows the Portland area real estate market, keeps the interests of her clients at the forefront of all that she does, and is completely honest and transparent.
As a buyer, Cricket helped my husband and I purchase a home despite multiple offers on the table. Throughout the entire process she was not only there to answer questions but to EXPLAIN what was happening. Our purchase was completely smooth and extremely positive.
I have had the opportunity to work on the «inside» with Cricket over the past year and a half and am impressed on a daily basis with her knowledge, intelligence, skill set and integrity when representing both buyers and sellers. Cricket values each of her clients and gives every transaction the attention it deserves.
Lastly, 11 months after purchasing our home, we found out we were being relocated for my husband’s job on a very short timeline. Cricket got our home listed in two days then obtained an offer two days later. When listing, we listened to Cricket’s advice and followed all of her instruction from bark dust out front to staging inside and finally price. As a result of taking advantage of the insight Cricket had as our agent, we were able to sell our house for $ 56,000 MORE than we had purchased it for less than one year before. If you are a seller, LISTEN TO WHAT CRICKET HAS TO SAY!
Cricket is truly BRILLIANT and I would recommend her to absolutely anyone in need of real estate assistance. It has been an honor to work with Cricket and the Keller Williams Portland Première office in all of my real estate endeavors.

I hired Peter Clark of the Clark Group in Portland, OR to list and sell my home this summer. While we did receive a gross selling price that exceed our list price, with the net proceeds falling just short of asking, I continually found myself wondering whether Peter was working for the buyers agent, or for me. We had multiple stumbling blocks along the way, instances in which Peter asked me for a response ASAP, but then would not confirm anything with me after he heard from the buyers agent. Here are a list of issues that we encountered:
1) While there was a «for sale» sign posted, the eco fliers or paper fliers were never delivered/​posted. I followed up with Peter and his admin twice on this and received different timelines both times. I honestly believe that he never put in the work order for the fliers, and hoped to avoid that cost of business as the market was very hot. We did receive two offers in six days, but I attribute that to the market, not to Peter’s ability to market a home.
2) Peter did not follow up with me after showings to provide feedback. When I requested info from him, he finally provided feedback on the basement, which I needed to remedy, but would not have known otherwise. I continually found that I needed to contact him to inquire about the status of the showings and sale, rather than the other way around.
3) During the repair addendum negotiations, Peter verbally told me that the buyers had a clean soil sample in hand. I signed the repair addendum, according to that understanding, when there was no clean sample in hand. This had implications on the repair process. One example of the numerous failed communication attempts.
4) As we came nearer to closing, and the negotiations continued, I felt as though Peter was closing the deal for his own interest, and working more for the buyers than for myself. This was incredibly frustrating.
5) When we met to sign papers, the commission he had listed on the HUD was incorrect. This was the final straw for me. I had to follow up with him and title company to have it revised.
I would not, in any circumstance, recommend Peter to anyone of my friends or family. I am not sure if his lack of attention was due to the fact that my home is in the first time home buyer price range, and the market was moving quickly, but I certainly did not feel as though he was the trusted advisor I had intended to hire. The home sold, and I made a fair profit, but it was not an enjoyable experience. The most stressful piece was actually dealing with communicating with Peter.

Alex Clark helped me with my recent purchase. He was reliable, went above the call of duty, and is a nice guy! Highly recommended!

Peter Clark is an exceptionally knowledgeable and effective realtor. Peter worked hard to help me sell my condominium.
