Kim Reis Pilates

I live in San Francisco. I’m writing this review, simply because I and my husband miss her and her pilates class. We first met Kim when we were living in New York City many years ago. She was already as a star pilates instructor at Equinox fitness Center NY. Her class was always packed. That was the time I started to be addicted to Pilates, and thinking about as a life-​time practice for myself. I totally agree with other earlier reviews. She is probably THE BEST out there. After she moved to SF a while later, My husband and I moved to SF too. Of course, we tracked her down. My husband Andrew feels comfortably doing pilates only with Kim, still now. After Kim moved back to Portland, Andrew stopped pilates, because he thinks there is no one as good as Kim. Me, of course, still keep doing pilates, but we miss her, we know no one is better than her in the city. People in Portland are so lucky to have her! She influenced my pilates practice significantly. Because of her bright and easy-​going personality, I recommend her to all genders and age.

It was a pleasure taking pilates from Kim! She has a gentle style, and personalized my workout around my injuries so that I could still get the full benefit of my pilates sessions. She also taught my 88 yr old grandmother, and was so good with her as well. My grandmother and I have very different needs and skills levels in pilates, and Kim had no problem catering to each of our needs. She is encouraging, understanding, and still makes you work hard so you don’t cheat yourself! The only drawback is that Kim no longer teaches in San Francisco, and I miss her! She is one-​of-​a-​kind, and a class act.

Kim Reis is an amazing teacher. As a yoga teacher with a strong sense of my body and anatomy she kept it simple but to the point. Her sunny personality and deep understanding of the body makes her a gift to both brand new students and those who have been working with their bodies for years. Check her out at March Wellness at the OHSU campus (open to the public) for her group reformer classes. She changed me yoga practice dramatically.

Kim expertly assesses the level of expertise and trains within the person’s range without boredom. Pilates has often been said to be easy and gentle, but with Kim, she ensures a good but safe workout. Her NY training and constant updates ensures a balanced routine yet fun.
