Where do start??? I have been going to Muriel for over 15 years. She was the first person to ever do a brow wax and a Brazilian on me. Her personality is unmatched. Her kindness. The way she has about her to allow you to be completely comfortable in your most vulnerable state. She is meticulous. Passionate. Employs only the best of the best. As I also adore Cara a fantastic addition to the La Muse team. Muriel is actually my muse. I also own a salon in Portland and often refer many clients to her for her being a master in her craft. No, she didn’t pay me to write this. LOL I just adore her, look up to her and am so incredibly thankful to her for helping on my journey into this industry.

This place is wonderful! She always does a great job on my brows and lashes and she makes you feel comfortable during otherwise uncomfortable treatments. I hesitate to go anywhere else in Portland now.

Muriel is absolutely fantabulous! Although I consult Unilocal frequently I rarely put up reviews. But La Muse definitely deserves a stellar review. I went in for a lash tint and brazilian wax. While she was letting the lash tint set Muriel commented that she was itching to do my brows (they were getting to that point anyway). I am so particular about my brows and have had them royally f-​ed up so many times that I have continued to get them done only when I go back to my hometown to visit. But I figured what the hey, they can always grow back. My brows look amazing! I cannot stop looking at them in the mirror! All the services were awesome. The best part, though, is Muriel herself. She is freakin’ H-​I-​LARIOUS! I will absolutely be going back… and I’ll try some of her other services too.

La Muse is the best. I usually get a brow tint and wax, and a lash tint. It’s amazing to go in with pale, shapeless brows and invisible eyelashes and walk out looking like I’ve had a makeover.
Muriel is an eyebrow artiste. She’ll shape the perfect brow with the perfect arch for your face. I’ve never been able to shape my own brows like she does, nor have I had another wax I’ve been as pleased with.
Plus her studio is super cute and welcoming, and she’s hilarious too. Go see Muriel!

Absolutely amazing! I have been to 3 different salons in Portland before trying La Muse and I wish I would have known about this wonderful place earlier.
I went in for my first waxing appointment and the owner did a fabulous job. Seriously, cannot believe how quick and painless it was! I felt completely comfortable the whole appointment and I will never go anywhere else. I cannot recommend this place enough– Muriel (the owner) is a perfectionist and makes sure the client leaves with results better than expected.
Prices are completely worth the quality of care you will receive! The atmosphere is relaxing and inviting– never thought I would be looking forward to my next waxing appointment. I am a life-​long customer!

I have been receiving waxes and facials at La Muse for 2 years, and every service has been superior! As stated in a previous review, she is a perfectionist and you can be confident that you will leave with the cleanest wax you’ve ever had. No stray hairs or blemishes will evade her thorough and skillful work.
My skin is prone to acne, and Muriel has really taken the time to troubleshoot and problem-​solve it with me. Thanks to her: I now have a healthy skincare routine and artfully shaped eyebrows that no longer resemble giant caterpillars. She also does a fabulous job with make-​up.

I love this place. This was my first of many many visits. Felt very welcomed as if I knew her for years.

Ahhh… a facial. Have you ever had one?
I had my first facial ever and it was ahhhhh-​mazing. I decided to treat myself to this little luxury because my normally perfect skin was looking less than perfect… I had a few little blemishes that needed some attention. I had been to LaMuse in the past several times for another treatment, eyelash and brow tinting. The eyelash and brow tint treatment there is also fabulous.
In brief, Muriel is a perfectionist. She absolutely pampered me. No pore left behind… from the ultimate cleansing to the ultimate extraction of every annoying imperfection. My skin is now glowing. This is the place to go if you really seek a skin guru.
The ambience is lovely and welcoming as well. The salon sits in the lower level of her home yet is completely professional. There are lovely pieces of jewelry to amuse the eye, amazing scented candles, little wine stoppers, and other gift items from local artists.
LaMuse is a wonderful gem of salon/​spa. I can’t wait to treat myself to another facial whether I look like I need it or not. It just feels good to do this for yourself.

you think my eyebrows look this good naturally? ahh no. they are more like wild caterpillars. Muriel is a goddess and perfectionist who makes you feel just as equally fantastical in your womanliness.

I am reposting as I am not sure why they didn’t just update the address rather than list it as closed!
Since moving to town I have been in dire need of a fabulous waxer. After three failed attempts at the same place, I decided to skip waxing until I heard of a better place. Several months later my eyebrows had actually gotten to the point of scaring people! I had to take action, mom is heading in to town tonight and takes her eyebrows very seriously. Portland Monthly Magazine recently deemed La Muse as the best waxer in the city so, off I went to give it a try!
I love La Muse! The spa is located on one floor of an adorable house that you get to by going down this cool set of wooden stairs on a hill. The inside is adorable and decorated in quite a cool fashion. I immediately felt quite at home and relaxed. They offer facials and massages in addition to waxing/​tinting and everything is reasonably priced.
Muriel is very friendly, down to earth, and a lot of fun. She is incredibly meticulous and spent quite a bit of time working on my brows. I booked another appointment in right away and am looking forward to going back there. I will update later after I visit Muriel again. I may have found my spa and maybe now my eyebrows will stop scaring people. Hurray!
