Les Schwab Tire Center

So disappointed and sad. Long story long… I was scheduled for a wheel bearing replacement which was to take 2 – 3 hours. I let them know up front that I had to wait there. One of the managers who he checked me in was irritated that I only wanted the bearing that was damaged to be replaced. They had suggested to replace both front bearings even though both might not be damaged. He was short and rude with me. After an hour of waiting my car was still not pulled into the bay. One of the employees came to tell me that the part was not ordered even though he had two days to order it. I told him to cancel my appointment and that I was not coming back.
I was able to speak with Irving who is not a manager but carried himself as one. He was kind and patiently listened to me. He did some research as to what happened and called me the next day. I appreciated his call and accepted some of his answers, but in the end I decided to have my mechanic take care of my problem.
My dad worked for over 20 years at a Schwab in southern Oregon. Back in his day Les Schwab was a different kind of business. One for the customer. After several unsatisfactory experiences in the last 6 years with Schwab I now feel they are like most companies, only out for the bottom dollars… try to convince you more is wrong then there is.
I do think that Irving should be appointed manager. He seems like a very kind and upstanding employee.
The manager that helped me should probably stop playing with his cell phone and offer good costumer service.

I no longer trust Les Schwab Tire Centers, especially this one. I had one tire that needed replacing and they told me that since my car had all-​wheel drive and the fact that these particular tires were no longer made that I would have to replace all four. I don’t have all-​wheel drive, I found out later. And even if I did, that’s not even true that you need all the same tires on a vehicle. There’s obvious commission sales going on here.
I also had to wait in line for what seemed forever to get anyone to even look up at me. Then, they called someone who came in after me up to the counter. I objected and they said «it’s okay, we’ll get to everyone.»
Mr. Schwab would not approve! They won’t see me, again.

I recently found a nail in my tire. Naturally I brought my car into Les Schwab to have the nail removed and the hole plugged.
Roughly 2 hours later I received a telephone call telling me they would be unable to plug the tire due to cords showing through the rubber. I had inspected the tire before bringing the car over and no cords were evident so receiving a phone call like this caused undue stress.
Less Schwab then told me I would need to replace all 4 tires at a cost of almost $ 900 dollars.
After collecting my car I brought it directly to another tire dealer on NE Columbia. They verified that no cords were showing and in «their opinion» plugging the nail hole was a safe and acceptable fix.
In Les Schwabs defense the tires did have less than 50% tired depth so I understand not wanting to take on the liability. What I take issue with is the scare tactics that were used assuming I wouldn’t know any better.
How many other people were pushed into something they may not have needed?
I’ve read «Keep It Going» which was written by Les Schwab. So much of the culture that made his business special has changed since his death and that makes me sad.

Wife’s brakes went out. Luckily in a parking lot. Was able to drive it over to our Les Schwab Columbia. Had never had bad service here, and it continues. They discovered a leaky caliper and swapped it out. Being a regular customer there, it would be 5 stars if I wasn’t given the 3^rd degree about whether or not we had our brakes done last with them just because the pads looked newer. We’ve only ever had our brakes and tires serviced there and our paperwork in the glove shows that. I understand asking, but spending 10minutes on the phone being doubted etc. is pretty bad. They made it right though and will continue coming here.

What a novel idea! Open up multiple chain locations and offer sales, repairs, and returns to any of them at any step of the way. After dealing with the least professional manager at the Broadway location, I arrived at the St John’s location. I called ahead to see if they could help me that night, since by then it was within the hour prior to closing and I was going to hit rush hour. They sounded completely calm and said it would be no problem. I assumed the place was empty. Nope! It was far busier than the Broadway shop. But they took care of each and every waiting customer prior to closing.
The staff at the St John’s location work hard, are professional, and fast! If you want good customer service no matter where you purchased your tires at, make a trip down to the St John’s Les Schwab. It’s worth the distance.

I came here a little while ago and they did a great job talking me through the dynamics of wheels and tires. My problem being them is that they never sat down with my and actually settled in a tire, they also never called me back when they said they would. It has now been 4 weeks…

Worst Les Schwab ever. I love what Les Schwab stands for and Bud lacks serious customer service skills. Every other employee at this place is awesome… unfortunately Bud is the manager. I work in customer service and I have never been treated nor would I treat someone the way Bud treats his customers. Used car salesman at best.

Mixed bag, some techs had great service but one spoke down to me (because I’m a woman?) they also didn’t have the tires they had quoted me an hour before closing the day before. I do appreciate the free flat repair and rotation though.

a guy who works at this LS location found my cell phone in the middle of Columbia Blvd; brought it to work and then the Mgr called my house (I had left it on the car after working at the Food Bank). HONEST guys!

Poor customer service took them 15 minutes just to say be right with you. Lots of guys walking around doing nothing but answering the phone. They said as soon as the guys get done they would start on my car. All I had was a paper clip sticking out of my tire. Once the guy finally did speak he said it would be about 30 to 40 minuts, well you wasted half of that by not responding to a customer that’s standing in the middle of your store. The service is horrible.

A Chevy dealer told me me my rear brakes were down to 2 percent and that it was dangerous to drive and that repairs would cost over $ 500. I got a second opinion at this Les Schwab and they said «you’re brakes are fine, no charge.» Needless to say, I will return here. Honesty pays off for businesses.

these guys were here for me.
i had a low tire (work vehicle), but still.
they ran to me, just like on the old school commercials.
sat a bit, my sensor had a «hey low tire notice», it was actually hissing when i witnessed it. yikes.
they determined I needed new tires. I knew that was coming. Got’em on w/​in 50 min. Steady work ethic. I wasn’t in the mood for popcorn, but had their coffee.

Always 5 stars at this location!!!
Quick to serve, QUALITY work, nice clean neat and organized shop.
I personally don’t even consider tire, brake and suspension work anywhere else.

Wow. Have been using les schwab since my first car when I was a kid. Seriously never had a problem, always amazing customer service! Yet, I bought a brand new tire here because of vandalism and I had to take it back the next month because it was leaking next to the rim. No scratches, or visible damage. They told me here I had to buy a new one even though it clearly states it is covered. It’s a $ 350 tire! I was so upset I called another les schwab and they told me that is crazy! It is covered! So I went back and the manager who helped me first was visually pissed off at me and rood. It was covered, yet it shouldn’t have got this far. They are not all the same! Check reviews before you go! Took me 15 years to have this come into like for me

I had a winter tire come apart, i.e. the steel mesh cords out through the tread. When I went back to LS where i bought the tires they went into immediate sell me a set of tires mode. The manager came out and told me the tries were seven and eight years old (not sure why two different ages as i purchased them as a set) and had to be replaced because the rubber compounds were now different. I had about 10K miles on them (on the car Dec-​Mar). No option for replacing the defective tire or purchasing a pair. Replacement was a $ 600-​$ 700 proposition for nothing fancy (¹⁹⁵⁄₁₅ 65 tires)… went elsewhere, less than $ 400.

If you say it will take thirty minutes, and all we’re talking about is one or two slowly leaking tires, then it had better not take one hour and fifteen minutes. Oh, and because of that I missed my chance to go through DEQ. Sorry guys, not using this location again.

I went to Mieneke first and they did extremely shoddy work and then didnt stand behind the work. Here is what happened: Took car in to get brakes repaired. Paid close to $ 800 for rear brakes rotors and drums. They got right on it and finished promptly but right after i left the car had a shudder in it everytime i applied brakes. I called Neil, the Mgr, and he had me bring the car back. The same mechanic, an asian fellow, said it was the front brakes rotors, & Neil had him grind the rotors and told me the rotors were going to have to be repaired soon. Again without even test driving the car it was returned to me and they told me it was repaired. I drove away and immediately noticed the same shudder when i applied the brakes. This time I took it over to Les Scwab (yes i know i should have gone there first everyone told me so). After test driving it the mech told me the drums (which Mieneke had replaced) were not installed correctly. Les Scwab then in less than 30 mins fixed the shoody work done by Mieneke and only charged me $ 61. Well, I went back to Mieneke with the receipt and asked to be reimbursed and after a few days passed the owner, Bill called to tell me he didnt feel it was his companies fault and that he woldnt stand behind the work. He did offer an oil change for what thats worth– but know i would nt even really trust them to do that right.
Rock on Les Schwab– sorry i went to Mieneke but i did learn my lesson.

Everyone I spoke with was friendly and informative. They replaced my battery quickly. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. They were honest and told me that my battery was only weak and not dead.
I suppose they could have offered to charge it, but it’s not their brand, and it might have been a waste of time since the battery wasn’t putting out enough voltage.
I think we did the right thing, and now I have a battery that is warrantied for 7 years, and I can get serviced almost anywhere.

Very very rude, store manager thought I was from another company and started yelling at me. He actually dropped a couple f-​bombs in the lobby In front of several other customers, very humiliating. Again this was all because he couldn’t take the time to find out who I was. For all of their smiling faces and here we come running aditude, they still deep down are uneducated (they wouldn’t work as a tire jockey if they were) asshole rednecks. Top it off there tires are over priced. Go to Costco, americas tire, or
first.

Lame woman at counter told me the tires I wanted were discontinued and there were none in stock.
I called Schwab’s North Lombard location and yes, they were discontinued but they tracked some down from an eastern Oregon Schwab and got them shipped over.
Avoid this location. Bad, indifferent service without a smile. Bleh.
