Love it– when standing in front of pats pizza door on right– great spot — met the owner — great drinks in beautiful glasses.

We had to try Lincoln’s because of the secret entrance. It is a unique way to surprise friends who have not been there yet. We return because of the simplicity. There are not a lot of drinks available, but they are well prepared and strong. It is an easy place to mingle. Everything is $ 5(cash), so it is not hard to figure out the bill even after a few. It is just plain fun.

What a great place and fun concept. It’s somehow hip without being pretentious. When you finally make your way in and figure out how to get in(and no, I can’t tell; we’ve been sworn to secrecy upon pain of torture :-)) you are in this very dark setting with a long bar to the side, a standing bar section and a bunch of chairs and old couches spread about the place. After getting our drinks, 5 dollar beers(gotta love the concept), the only seat we could find was in the stage area, a large lighted spot. So after getting our tan on for a few minutes, another space opened up on one of the couches that was in the dimly lit area. Great for people watching, lounging, and drinking. The concept of course, is 5 dollars for beer, liquor, chili mac, you name it. It’s all cash and it’s all 5 dollars. Perfect. Combine that with the speakeasy, only those in the know vibe, and you’ve got a money maker. It’s tightly crowded, dark and hard to find. Who knew those would make for a great bar?

Where is it? Oh what a fantastic question! The entrance is super cool and fun! This place is Hush Hush and that’s what makes it kinda fun! This is a neat place with a cool vibe and gives you a feeling like your part of something exclusive. The menu is neat and provides plenty of variety. With everything priced the same you know what your in for. Ca$h Money! Drinks are mixed well, and you get what you pay for! Enjoy!

PROS: It is a very clever idea and certainly lives up to it’s reputation for a speak-easy. It’s hard to find unless you’re in-the-know(Market street… hint, hint) and the door is a secret passageway. The crowd is people in their 30’s and the decorating is very clever. They sometimes have live music and EVERYTHING is $ 5. CONS: Again, this is my own personal bias, but I hate being in basements when I live in a beautiful ocean-city like Portland. Window-less and dark is not my jam, but everyone I know is obsessed with this place. Definitely worth a visit even if it’s not going to be your go-to spot.

Meh, not sure what all the hubbub is about this place. The speak easy atmosphere is pretty cool but I prefer Bramhall(also has a speak easy atmosphere) on Congress much better. The bartender was short with us and seemed aggravated that we were naïve to the fact that they didn’t have bud light. Okay granted we were on a St. Patrick’s Day pub crawl and yes he was swamped at the bar. Which okay first of all… it’s a Saint Patrick’s day pub crawl… why was there only one bartender?! That made no sense. When we asked for bud light he scoffed and leaned over and picked up his menu and quite literally slammed it down in front of us and said«this is what I have and we’re cash only» while he was standing under the massive cash only sign, I’m so glad he cleared that up for us. Needless to say we left and went next store to Pat’s pizza for our bud lights and junk food ;)

I LOVED this place. Really interesting vibe as it’s somewhere between a speakeasy(no signs for how to get in) and a dive bar(cash only, all drinks $ 5). The ambiance was great with Lincoln posters all over and even a giant LINCOLNS sign made out of pennies(get it? lincoln, pennies? wonderful) as well as giant comfy couches and board games scattered around. Bartenders were all really cool, the $ 5 drink thing was especially lovely as we got cocktails and beers without having to really worry about the cost too much. I even got a shirt for $ 5! Really recommend this place a lot, it was the perfect end to the night

Someone told us this was a cocktail bar… it is not. It is kind of a speak easy with the underground bar. Everything is $ 5, which is amazing. Jack and coke, fireball and ginger ale, beer etc. it is great for what it is. We were just disappointed bc we thought it was craft cocktails. No food, except chili.

I reaaalllly like Lincoln’s. Wanna know why? I’ll tell ya… No BS. Absolutely no BS! [CASHONLY] $ 5 strong drinks, comfy area where you can sit and chat with your friends, and a down to earth bartender that is there to please. Did I mention I ordered a Guinness and it was properly poured! Not everyone does this, but they do at Lincoln’s! Oh Baby… This place can get packed so we like to get there a little early to get a good spot. After we’re liquored up we’ll typically head out to fore/wharf street. It’s always a great night after Lincoln’s. Great hang out spot for some pretty strong $ 5 drinks! Their chili mac is just okay — nothing amazing, but the drinks — oh the drinks! The bartenders know what they’re doing with the drinks :)

I’m still not entirely sure how I feel about Lincoln’s. I have been to many a speakeasy themed establishments in my day. While the novelty of having a speakeasy themed bar is something that Portland sorely needed, I’m not entirely shore if this one appropriately fills the gap. This is the first one I have been to that does not have a dress code. Additionally, though liquor is usually the seldom beverage served, this place also offers beer. The cannot even make an Old Fashioned… Literally don’t carry oranges.

My favorite part about Lincolns is bringing someone here for the first time and having them try to find their way in(laughs for days). I like to play the«you’re getting warmer» game. Once you find your way in you’re greeted by a friendly bar staff and a no nonsense drink menu. Choose your liquor of choice(vodka, rum, gin, whiskey, bourbon etc.) and your mixer(coke, ginger ale, cranberry juice, soda water etc.) and you’re on your way to cheap drink bliss. That’s right, all drinks are $ 5.00, tax included(cash only). Clever one, Lincolns! Get it?! *elbow nudge*. Don’t worry hopheads, they have beer too. Among the choices are Baxter, Gritty’s, and Allagash. I’m not a barley literati but I hear these are some of the local favorites. Lincoln’s is closed on Sundays and Mondays– much to my dismay. I wish they were open 7 days a week. On Thursdays they have a comedy show with three stand up comedians and they charge a $ 10 cover. I haven’t checked the comedy out yet so I can’t tell you how that is. I can say that I’ve wanted to go to Lincoln’s on a Thursday before but didn’t because I remembered there was a cover. In Portland, bars are forced to serve food. At Lincolns they have one food item and it is the chilimac(chili + mac & cheese). I haven’t seen this up close yet, but not gonna lie I am very curious about it and will have to order it eventually to get a good look. Love chili? Totally! Love mac and cheese? Duh! Mixed together? Erhmm maybe?

Word to the wise: they only accept CASH so make sure you’ve got your bill(s). There’s a cash machine outside in case you need it. Figuring out how to get in here isn’t that hard so I’ll let you do the hunting yourself. Once you figure it out, you’re golden. First there are the liquors. Then there are the mixers. Then there is beer. Take your pick, but don’t expect hand crafted artisan cocktails here. It’s the nitty gritty. Cranberry and vodka? Whiskey ginger? Got you covered. Anything else, you’ve gotta take your pick from the dozens of other Portland restaurants that serve crafted cocktails. Literally. Walk outside. Take your pick, they’re all over. Lincolns on the other hand is the bare bones bar, the good and dirty, speakeasy of our forefathers. They’ve also got a stage which makes me wish they had a singer /guitar player like the girl in the new season of True Detective. If my True Detective reference is lost on you then think Twin Peaks biker bar singer. If that’s lost on you then we shouldn’t be friends. ANYHOW, I hope they get some music on that stage since it would be the cools. Anyway this is a cool place for people to hang out, drink, mingle, and lose cell reception. Maybe I’ll see you there! Maybe I won’t if you can’t find the entrance.

I’m a total believer in this speakeasy. I won’t tell you where the entrance is, but if you can get in, it’s a great relaxed and chilled-out spot to have a $ 5 beverage. Yes, all drinks are $ 5(Lincolns, duh) which are essentially comprised of 8 – 10 beers on tap, some hard liquors, and mixers. I like any place that doesn’t require me to read over a never ending cocktail list of Appletinis, Cape Codders and the like. The mood lighting is perfect, there are an ample amount of small tables and large communal seating areas to accommodate groups of all sizes, and they have a stage. I heard a rumor that they have comedy on Thursday nights? Check it out — if you can get in.

Minus a star cause what’s up with the beer selection? But this place earns bonus stars for being so cool. It’s definitely the new kid on the block, you know the one that all the kids think are cool. Yeah, that’s Lincoln’s If they want me coming back, I hope they improve their craft beer options. I expect Bissel Brothers, Bunker, Oxbow, Maine Beer Co, or something of the sort. Something super local, small and awesome — the other new cool kids in town, ya know? I’ll definitely be back, I mean who wouldn’t want to make their friends try to find it? But I hope they up the(beer) ante!

The Portland speakeasy scene is alive and well with Lincolns, where everything costs… well… $ 5(duh). Say what? You heard me… Five. Dollars. New Yorker’s heads are collectively exploding. But it’s true. They keep it simple… there are about 10 varieties of alcohol and a few different choices of mixers. Combine that with a generous pour and a high energy bartender and you’ve got a winning combo. Yes someone did order a tequila and diet coke, but hey, who am I to judge… I put mustard on pizza. They have a great vibe going. The Thursday night comedy was great, and on a Saturday night this place filled up quickly, with a broad swath of clientele. Word of mouth definitely seems to be working for them, so if you find yourself in Portland, try to find yourself in Lincolns!

Here’s the thing. This place is amazing. It’s a secret bar with no signage and no marked door. You’ve gotta either know about it or know someone who knows about it. I had a very hard time finding the entrance to this place and that’s what I like about it. It feels very much like a speakeasy from the Prohibition Era. It’s hidden and secret and perfect. All of the beers on tap and the cocktails are $ 5. Not $ 5 plus tax, just one Abraham Lincoln for your trouble. You’ll be treated to the best bartenders around. They are laid back and cool. I even asked Angela to make me a drink, dealer’s choice, and she did and it was delicious. I’m all about simplicity. Simple menu with a bunch of liquors, a selection of mixers and a 6 tap beer menu. It’s elegance and simplicity and perfect. The atmosphere is relaxed and the low lighting makes me feel like I’m hiding from the law. I felt like I was let into a cool crowd’s place and I intend to stay for awhile.

Here are things I like: Cheap, strong drinks Good times with friends Unexpected conversations with friendly strangers Laughing so hard it hurts Secrets Bars that rock on week day nights As a result, I think Lincolns might be my perfect bar. A group of us had the opportunity to check out the new speakeasy and had probably one of the best nights out in a long, long time. We met the owner outside near the location of the bar and he led us to the secret entrance. That sort of mystery alone makes me love the place(especially because we live in a town where openings of new places are always flashy, loud, and too«scene»). And now that I know how to get in… and I’m not telling. The drinks are all $ 5. It’s called Lincolns. Get it? GETIT??? No, but seriously — how refreshing is this price point, eh?! FYI: CASHONLY. Don’t make this weird, just go to the ATM, get a $ 20, then come back and get your drink on. I’ve been back several times now, and always have a great time — whether it’s a Tuesday night at 9pm or Saturday afternoon at 5pm. The bartenders are quick, mostly attentive, and pour one helluva mean ____________(fill-in-the-blank: first pick a spirit: Tito’s vodka, Absolut Mandarin vodka, Bombay Sapphire gin, Bacardi Silver rum, Hornitos tequila, Jameson whiskey, Jim Beam bourbon, Fireball cinnamon whiskey; next [if you want], pick a mixer: coke, diet coke, ginger ale, tonic, soda water, cranberry juice). They maybe just need to be a bit careful about the things they say about«non-locals», «big groups», or «people finding them too easily» under their breath, but loud enough that we can actually hear it… that’s tactless, and I know you’re all better than that so c’mon now! The place is low-lit in the sexiest way possible; the furniture can be moved to accommodate large groups; the couches are comfortable. Our very large group tended be a bit on the loud side, but it didn’t seem to phase the staff or other patrons. And more than once I was chatted up by folks I didn’t know who just wanted to talk. Yes, Lincolns. Yes. You’ve been open for just seconds but you’re doing it ALL right.

I found out of this bar in the usual Portland way. A friend my friend’s fiancé knew about the opening yesterday and politely but firmly demanded that we stop here after the Old Port Fest. First off, I’m a big fan of drinks that are round numbers and that don’t require a lot of pondering. All the drinks are five dollars. The interior is really cool. I don’t want to ruin the secret entrance for you, but I’m a big fan of basement bars and an even bigger fan of secrets, like Gretchen Weiners. Once inside, it’s cool an dark, but not so dark you can’t see what is going on. There is a long bar, a few booths that would probably fit 8 – 10 people, a couple of standard tables, a couch/chair seating area, and a long communal table. At this point, I had been walking around all day in the hot sun, so stepping in here was a blast of refreshing. The ladies’ room was clean and well kept(although it is brand new). I personally did not interact with the staff very much as my friends ended up doing most of the drink fetching. I will definitely return and I foresee potentially great things for this space!!!
