Been taking our car here since we moved to this neighborhood 9 years ago. They are super nice and honest. They even came to my house to change a flat for me once on the day before Thanksgiving, so I’d be able to go away for the weekend. Highly recommend!

I just brought my 66 VW btl in for some carb adjustment and walked out knowing, I got guys that can help me when I need help. They were very nice, especially Kim. Matt and Joe were very easy to talk to and they took time out to answer all the questions I had. Its hard to find a shop that gives you confidence. This is the place to take your car or truck, foreign or domestic.

These folks are so kind and helpful! I came in with an issue with one of the tires on my new car– when the dealership wouldn’t help me– but Luther Davis did! :)
I was astonished when they immediately dropped the task that they were working on to help me when I walked in the door. They quickly pulled a nail out of my tire (the dealership told me I would have to purchase a new one– tire had less than 1,000 miles on it) repaired it, and sent me on my way with a smile.
I was there for less than 15 minutes, and they’ve gained a customer for life! Don’t bother reading any other reviews and just head over to Luther Davis.

My first car was a broken-​down 1990 subaru legacy L hatchback that i bought in 2012 with serious head gasket issues that I poured way too much money into. It was junk, and I’m glad to be done with it, but while I owned it, it was all I had and I needed to make it work. The folks at Luther Davis were friendly and honest, no bull — just gave me what I needed to keep the car running til it gave out or started leaking again. They did a simple block seal with a heater core bypass, and it did the job — I was able to drive that car around for several months afterward, until I sold it to someone looking for a project car on craigslist. I no longer live in Oregon so haven’t been able to go back to thank the owners, so thank them for me if you see them. Good folks, honest work, highly recommended.

The three most important considerations in choosing a mechanic are: 1. good mechanical and technical skills; 2. trustworthiness so that they do not try to sell you unneeded repairs or parts; and, 3. reasonable prices. Matt Willers of Luther Davis Auto Repair deserves a top rating on all of these factors.
During about the past eight years I have taken a variety of vehicles to Matt for repair. He has done big jobs for me, like rebuilding a transmission on a Ford F-​250 pickup truck, and replacing the head gasket on a Nissan pickup truck. He has done various smaller jobs like repairing brakes, and electrical and fuel issues, on a Ford Windstar, Toyota Camry, Ford Mustang, and Chevy Camaro. I have always been satisfied with his work.
I drive some distance to take my vehicles to Matt because I trust him to do a good job for a fair price. An added bonus is that Matt, and his wife who handles the office, and his mechanic helper, are nice friendly people.

I have an older car and every time I take it to your well known oil change shops I’m always approached by some guy telling me that I need to change/​fix XYZ and that it will cost $X. Not knowing anything about cars, it’s really hard to know what I’m being told is in fact something I need. I’m sure that over the years I have spent more on services than I should have and or that I have purchased unnecessary items. That being said my car has always run great. However, fed up with relying on 20 some year old employees at a chain auto shop, I decided to branch out and give a local neighborhood shop a chance. Luther Davis is less than a mile from my house, so of course that is an immediate bonus. I called and made an appointment for an oil change and upon arrival I was greeted by name. The waiting area was nothing to write home about, but it was sufficient with water, coffee and chocolates (my favorite). Matt, the man working on my car, came in and told me that my brakes were not looking good. I was suspecting this. He quoted me a price and because I was already planning to purchase new tires that day I thanked him and told him that I’d see about brakes at the tire shop. Long story short, the tire shop did not do brakes and after calling around for quotes from three different shops, Luther Davis came out on top. So of course I called them and returned that day. When I told Matt about the high quotes he explained to me that many shops will charge for/​replace additional items that don’t actually need to be changed and that he did not like to do excessive and unnecessary work. All in all my experience with my neighborhood auto shop, Luther Davis, exceeded my expectations. Everything from the employees, customers and vendors that passed through as I waited for my vehicle to be worked on confirmed that this is a great place to take your car.
