Disappointing meal for the price. We had the lasagna(mushy) and the fettuccini Bolognese(over cooked pasta). However, nice touch with warm bread but it was a little stale… And the olive oil was pretty bad. Won’t go back.

Definitely not a favorite of mine. I was realllllllly excited to try Mama Mia Trattoria and I was utterly let down. I went here last night for happy hour with a few of my friends but ended up having to pick from the lunch menu because one of my friends forgot her ID at home so we could not sit in the bar — which I thought was kind of weird that you could only get happy hour in the bar, but not a huge deal. Betwixt the four of us, we had Manicotti, Lasagna, and garlic bread on the table. I wasn’t terribly hungry so I shared with a friend, and the portion was great for me. But I have to say the dish itself was not hot, and my other two friends who had the same dish had agreed with me. The last of the group who ordered the Lasagna said it was okay, but not her favorite. The garlic bread, was good, but nothing to write home about. Definitely needed some cheese or to add somthin a little extra to it. All in all, lunch was alright, but not a huge success. I do have to admit, looking over to the next table to the other people who had ordered off the dinner menu — their food looked divine, so maybe Mama Mia Trattoria knocks it out of the park for dinner, but lunch was a walk-on. Now we have the dessert. We all shared two slices of the Amaretto cheesecake. This right here ladies and gentlemen… is the saving grace of flavor and all its glory. I love cheesecake anyways, but holy christ this is a slice of heaven drenched in caramel and sprinkled in almonds, which wrapped this review up for that third star. Would I come back? If someone wanted me to, but probably not on my own.

I think I may have come in with high expectations since everyone I talked to about this place raved about it. My experience wasn’t bad but it wasn’t the best I’ve had, the food was average and I kind of felt like my husband and I were being rushed through dinner so they could refill our table. I’d say give it a try but don’t expect anything out of this world.

Caesar salad is great! We had the veal piccata and the sauce was perfection. The lasagna is also a must!

Although it was full and had an hour wait, we sneaked by to the bar and ordered dinner. The service was slow but totally worth it because once our order was placed it took less than 15 mins to get our main courses delivered. We ordered and split the fettuccine with chicken. Prices are moderate but totally worth it. My sister ordered the lobster Mac and cheese which was sublime. Pair it with beer or wine and you will not go wrong. Make sure you either reserve space or go nearly during weekends. They are very busy and waits can reach an hour or more. Located right next to Mother’s, it is a good spot to people watch during nice days. Enjoy!

An Italian gem in the heart of Portland. I loved the warm and inviting atmosphere, delicious pasta options, and friendly service. We visited with a group for dinner reservations, and the servers did a nice job to accommodate us. We did not have to wait long to be seated and for our orders to be taken. Penne aka vodka: one of my favorite dishes, well executed. Made with peas and fresh basil and parsley for a touch of freshness. Linguini carbonara: another classic favorite. Loved the pasta with pancetta, onions, egg, cream, parmigianino Reggiano, pecorino and Romano cheeses. Overall the food was great, and portions were generous. I enjoyed my experience dining here and look forward to coming back in the future.

This place proves that Portland is capable of serving up high-end locally sourced ingredients without pretense or outrageous prices. I had the seasonal lunch special pizza and can’t believe it was less than $ 15. Amazing comfort food in large portions served by a fun and professional staff. I always ask for recommendations and have never been disappointed with the results.

Went here for dinner while I was away for work and WOW great food. Appetizers were a crostini with prosciutto and green apples. Loads and loads of red and white wine, the waiters and waitresses did not even look annoyed. Main course was spare ribs bolognese with gnocchi. The gnocchi was cooked to perfection, just little airy clouds of heaven. The bolognese sauce was perfectly seasoned and didn’t make my tongue numb because of sodium after a while. Dessert was a tiramisu cake that was just your classic cake but sooooo delicious and extremely fresh! That’s the secret with tiramisu, it must be fresh. If you’re in the Portland area, stop by!

Fun… restaurant that is family friendly. Staff was extremely efficient and friendly. Food was good, ambience was very fun. When we were there it was decorated for Christmas and it was very pleasant.

Man, that was an average brunch. So average, I can barely remember any details beyond the fact that neither me nor my brunch-mates much cared for any of our meals. As I am wont to do, I got the eggs benedict. The hollandaise was bland and the crispy prosciutto was over the top salty. The portion of accompanying potatoes was huge, however. You know, in case you’re carb loading. Or love potatoes. The Zeppole were legit. Little Italian donuts served with a side of jam and some chocolate for dipping. I really enjoyed these! Mimosas were laughably inexpensive at under $ 4 a pop. That’s probably a good enough reason alone to visit. Service was OK. It was a challenge to get a coffee refill, even though the place was dead. Still, she was nice and that goes a long way with me. Speaking of dead, sometimes it’s nice to go someplace where you know it’s easy to get a table. Of course, there can sometimes be a reason for that. They play REALLY good music. I Shazamed like three things. I wouldn’t be pissed if I had to, but I doubt I’ll come back. There are just too many places that I’m really excited about.

We really enjoyed Mama Mia. It’s not super-fancy food, but it is fresh and very good. We ate the chicken picatta with a side of Brussel sprouts, arrabiata with house-made sausage and a kid’s helping of penne with Alfredo. All three of us really liked the food and my husband and I kept stealing our daughter’s Alfredo. Happy hour is awesome — 4−7pm Mon-Sat with good deals on food and drinks.(Lounge only, bummer for those of us with kids). We didn’t have lasagne but we saw it and it was like a meat tower. They have different ones daily, but this one looked like meat, pasta, meat with red sauce on top. Not a cheesy lasagne which is odd but it looked good!

Came here on a Saturday before heading to the Portland Night Market. Hurray for Saturday happy hours! Unfortunately a few of my friends are Canadian, and while they bought their Canadian licenses, they did not bring their passports and were not allowed to enjoy happy hour in the bar(and the bar area is the ONLY location that they allow happy hour, oddly enough). So remember your passports if you are Canadian. We really wanted to sample the food and try a little bit of everything, but ended up having to sit in the dining area. Being the french fry fiend that I am, I was able to sneak away for a short while and ordered the fries(which are not on the dinner menu) and the bella bellini. The fries were delicious! Nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Not overly seasoned and very delicious. I love anything with peach schnapps in it, so while the bella bellini wasn’t strong, it was a nice, fruity, tasty drink. Overall, I would like to come back one day and try more items on their happy hour menu. I easily get bored of large portions of one type of pasta, so it would be nice to get a sampling of what they have to offer

Oh‼MAMA MIAHere I go again. A wonderful night with a picky and very large Bachelortte group celebrating! Everything was delicious from Monopolova to zucchini sticks and Mozzarella crispy fried antipasti. Caprese was beautiful. This is classic Italian cooking in a terrificaly designed Victirian with high ceilings and bright color accents. My Vitello Piccata was simply divoon, tart and glossy sauce with extra capers on tender small filets! The bolognese was chunky and just the perfect color of red on beautiful fettucine-house made? I cant wait to return with my mind on eating, more than focusing on celebrating our Bride!

I thought the food was very good; I had the fettucine alfredo. I also loved that they had a local IPA on tap(Boneyard). And it’s in a pretty neat old building. It’s a few dollars more than I would normally spend on a meal, but I was on vacation and wanted to try it out.

I’ve seen this place many times when I drive around downtown looking for parking or walking around and was curious enough to finally check it out. It’s a great place if you have a large appetite because the serving size was huge but I prefer quality over quantity. The service also wasn’t very good and slow even though it was a week night and there weren’t too many other customers. The waitress tried to take away my drink when I was still nursing it, and then when I wasn’t paying attention she just took it! There was no reason for her to do that without even asking me since I did pay for it and if I want to hold onto it, I should be able to even if I was a little buzzed. I definitely wasn’t drunk and making a scene either. Here’s what I tried: BELLAAMORE($ 8.50): Delicious cocktail with amaretto, prosecco, blueberres, and orange twist. It was a very pretty drink too with the bubbles and floating fruits, which is why I wish I could have had the chance to finish it… CALAMARIFRITTI($ 13) :Calamari was pretty good and my favorite part of the meal because it was lightly breaded and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I liked the option of having two tomato based sauces to dip in too. ANTIPASTIPLATTER($ 18): Large platter with housemade mozzarella, Toscano salami, prosciutto di parma, olives, and roasted garlic/peppers. Only thing I enjoyed was the mozzarella. FETTUCINEBOLOGNESE($ 19): Fresh egg pasta with ground beef, veal, and pork in a tomato based sauce with just a touch of cream. I added a «jumbo» meatball($ 4) which was good but turned out to be a normal sized meatball. Overall the dish just wasn’t very special and tasted like something I could make myself at home. ZEPPOLE($ 7): Freshly made Italian doughnuts. They were served warm with lots of powdered sugar but were on the dry side. The good thing is you can cover it up by slathering on the berry jam and Nutella sauces.

Felt very authentic; especially the décor. It’s a romantic and rustic date place and I’d suggest not to go there in shorts and slippers; if you know what I mean! I tried the(2 flavored) gnocchi and it was great!

The SO came here for our first actual meal in Portlandia and we left still needing more. We came around 5 so it was still happy hour so we decided to sit at the bar area. There are a variety of items to choose from, salads, soups, appetizers, and pizza… as well as drink specials-all at a reduced price. What we ordered: –bruschetta: the crostini was cold and there was oil dripping down the bottom –arugula salad: comes topped with a fried blue cheese ball. –minestrone soup: bland, but had a lot of vegetables –pollo parmigiana(off the regular menu): comes with a HUGE piece of chicken layered with a ginormous piece of cheese(even for cheese lovers like myself) and your choice of a pasta side or vegetables. What I didn’t like was that you could literally see the oil in all the fried items. It was like a layer of oil on top of everything. There is some street parking available. There is also a required $ 2.95 drink minimum.
