Quaint french restaurant. Get the pastries or anything else! Fantastic!

Doesn’t get much better than this. High quality ingredients and great execution. Perhaps the best mussels I’ve ever had. Also had a delicious little open-faced sandwich with dark bread, strawberries and(I think?) crème fraîche. Lemon soufflé pudding was wonderful — great texture and flavor. Portions were a little small, but who cares. If you’re hungry you get to try more dishes.

Terrible. They said wait was 5 – 10 mins and we were the only ones on the wait list. After one hour waiting someone else walks in and is seated right away. When we asked about this they said they would set a table up, but this was a little too late. We eat out a lot and spend a lot. They just lost us from ever eating there and would not recommend this service to anyone! So rude!!!

Easy 5 stars here. Hard to find, especially if your not looking for it, but this is a Portland gem you don’t want to walk by. I’d describe it as very French and very awe inspiring. I’m eating a slice of their famous bird seed teacake which has 18 different ingredients I’m told(not one of which is actual birdseed). It only holds about 25 people so I imagine there might be a wait on a picturesque summer day in Portland, but it’s an experience you’ll remember and savor. Bön appetite!

One of the best lunches I have had in a while. The radish pops were amazing, as well as everything else. The lamb meatballs and tart were also ridiculously good. The wait staff was very friendly and knowledgable about everything on the menu and the owner was also very sweet. Couldn’t recommend enough if you like a light lunch with amazing flavor.

Cute, charming and oh-so-French! Those words are all kind of synonymous right? :p My friend saw this place on tv and wanted to go. There was about a 20 minute wait for 5 people on a Saturday morning. The inside is kind of minimalist French bakery with adorable mini vases of flowers at each table. The bakery selection is adorable and changes daily. They do run out of goods quickly though. I had the veggie quiche of the day with a salad, coffee and coffee cake. Everything was delicious and not too heavy… even the coffee cake wasn’t too heavy! This is an adorable spot for a brunch date!

Delicious food beautifully presented and the service was great. I’m happy we chose to go for an early lunch though since the place filled up fast.

A little brunch before perusing Powell’s? My mom and I arrived right as Maurice opened, but we were a bit sad to find out they don’t serve the more savory items(open faced sandwiches etc) until 11AM :(Even so, they had a multitude of offerings available, and thankfully one option was a quiche so we didn’t have an overwhelming amount of sugar ;) We ordered the currant and rosemary scone with crème fraîche and tangy tangerine compote, two quiches, and two pots of tea. The scone was DELICIOUS. I definitely could taste the rosemary in it, but it wasn’t overwhelming; it actually helped balance the sweetness of the scone itself, as the top was coated in yummy sugar. The quiches were tasty but I thought the egg was a bit too soft/runny. The crust was delectable though. As for the tea I was totally on board. The jasmine one I ordered was awesome and I drank the entire pot ;) Our server was super nice and attentive and the china ware they use is beautiful! I also loved that the décor was mainly white; everything looked so clean!

Outstanding experience. Everyone that works in the restaurant treats you like family with amazing, personable service. I went with a rather large group of 7 and we asked our server to just bring us lots of plates. Salads were beautifully crisp with just the right amount of dressing, so you could still taste the different lettuces. The cheese plates were luscious and the cheeses were at the correct temperature which makes a huge difference in the flavors. The food just kept coming and everything was amazing. Desert was by far my favorite, particularly the medjool date and celery leaf vacherin. It was so good I had to go back the following day and have just desert and an amazing sparkling rosé from Austria. Simply amazing. I’ve told everyone I know how special and wonderful this place is. I wish it wasn’t on the opposite coast. Well worth the airfare to go back.

This café is so cute and they serve good tea in an iron pot and yummy food. The cheesecake with black pepper was sooo yummy! These foods look tasty. But, I’m sure when you eat them, you will realize that they are tastier than you thought! One thing: we went there 11am and we wanted to eat Quiche, but had to wait until 12 noon for it… too bad. that’s why I put 4 stars. I would love to try it again though!!!

Very quaint French brunch spot. Menu) when we went) had mussels, quiche, currant scone, pineapple brioche, two unusual open face veggie sandwiches and a few other options. The quiche is perfect — very delicate. Mussels were also perfection. Everything we tried was delicious. One challenge: Not toddler friendly if you have a picky eater.

I was really excited to eat here, until I looked at the menu and realized that this seems more of a Swedish restaurant rather than French. When you look up Maurice’s on Unilocal,it is described as a french restaurant, so I don’t know if it is and just has a Norwegian flair or if the description is somehow incorrect. Anyways, after perusing the menu I did not find anything particularly appetizing accept the dessert… of course. The scone loaf with currants and rosemary could not be passed up. I thought I was done until I spotted what looked like a pan of cornbread, but in actuality, it was the lemon soufflé pudding cake. The loaf was extremely tasty and not too sweet, which is one of the things I love most about european desserts; they always taste a lot less sweet than american desserts. The lemon soufflé pudding cake was just ok. It was very tart and filled with lemon peel. So if extreme lemon peel is your thing, then you will love this dessert. Unfortunately, it was not my cup of tea.

This is such an adorable café, and even more importantly, a delicious one. I came in with a good friend for a light lunch. And light fare is exactly what they provide! Maurice is a very intimate space. In other words, get ready to sit closely to other diners and patrons. We sat at the counter facing the bakery/kitchen. There were small booths mainly for duos. This is definitely not a place for groups. Nevertheless, petite or not, they serve great food. I ordered their quiche of the day which was a smoked ham, gooseberry, and sage quiche. This was quite possibly the loveliest quiche I’ve had in ages. The filling was more like a custard; dense yet somehow still fluffy and delicate. It was silky and savory thanks to the ham. The sage added that necessary freshness… and the gooseberry provided sweetness to round everything out. The crust? Buttery, sturdy, and upon cutting into it, it crumbled into large shards not into a million pieces. I also tasted the oyster and cod chowder. It was creamy, smooth, and the flavor of oyster shined through. Now, the one minor flaw(and I honestly didn’t make a fuss about it nor did I tell the server) was the fact that there was a small garden worm in my accompanying salad. The worm was so small though that you honestly would’ve missed it if you weren’t looking closely. I joked with my friend that the greens were so fresh that there were still insects in it. Eh, I mean, I’m certain we eat insects unintentionally every day and we just don’t know about it. That said, I left it alone and ate around it even as it wiggled on my plate. Overall, the service was good — nothing spectacular or fascinating to report here. The ambiance was also solid: trendy but classic chic; artsy, bougie, hipster crowd; lots of bright natural light despite the small space. Lastly, food: wonderful. If you want delicate but approachable French or French-inspired fare, this is your spot.

Came here for a late Tuesday lunch date with myself. I had a hankering for a good quiche, and Unilocal suggested this spot. Maurice definitely intrigued me after reading about it being one of the«10 best new restaurants» from Food+Wine magazine. So, at around 2:30pm I walked downtown and caught Maurice after their lunch rush. The customers seated included me, a 2 top and a 3 top. The girl who took my order was nice enough. She asked me if I wanted some wine or prosecco with my food. I would have obliged, but there wasn’t ONE glass of wine under $ 12(!!!). I get it, this place is catering to people who are on lunch from their banking jobs or finishing up playing racquetball at the MAC. But c’mon! They are losing revenue by not having at least ONE middle-range priced glass of wine or bubbles. My food(a quiche heated up and a salad with EVOO and lemon) took quite a while to come out with no tickets in front of me. Luckily, I had coffee and water to hold me over. However, both of my cups sat empty for so long, I had to walk up to the server and ask for a refill! I was sitting at the counter FACING the servers and no one bothered to look at my water glass or coffee cup. Super basic, and they blew it. The quiche was good. It was small for $ 10, considering Crema has *almost* as good of a quiche and theirs is $ 6 for almost twice as much. The salad was yummy, too, but nothing to write home about. I chose the Lemon Soufflé Pudding cake for dessert. It was delicious. When the server sat it down she said«Watch out, the plate is really hot.» I bit into the cake and it was still super cold… So weird. I asked her to heat it up a little more, which did make it even yummier. I’m not sure if service sucked because they’re used to being slammed and when it’s not actually busy they’re not on the top of their game, or if it was sub-par because of the je né sais quoi French-ness of this place. But, the waitstaff was nice enough when they were around. The food was good. The alcohol was too expensive. $ 18+tip for a small quiche, coffee, and piece of cake? Meehhhhh I’ll be back when I want to impress someone.

Food was great but the portions were small. I could have eaten two entrees. Really cute place, you can watch them cook a bit if you sit at the bar.

This quaint Parisian breakfast and lunch nook is the place to be in Portland. Named one of the«Top 10 Best New Restaurants» by Bön Appetit Magazine, my girlfriend and I knew we had to stop by for one of their breakfast pastries while in town. The menu is simple and seasonal, but that’s what makes it stand out. We tried the currant & rosemary scone with fresh crème and the jam of the day which was kumquat marmalade. The flaky, buttery pastry was not too sweet and was complimented perfectly by the jam and crème. The rosemary was light and not overpowering, but gave it a perfect savory element. We also couldn’t pass up the lemon soufflé pudding. Perfectly tart and creamy, the soufflé was warmed up and dusted with powdered sugar before being served to us. We will definitely be going back next time we are in town to try the other delicious treats.

Maurice serves pastries, coffee, and tea starting at 10am and lunch starting at 11am on Saturdays. I was happy to see a good selection of Chinese teas, including pu-erh, baozhong oolong, lapsang souchong, and more. We shared: * Quiche du jour — $ 10 This quiche of mushroom, chevre, and elderberry was best described as gooey goodness. * Smørebrød du jour — $ 12 Beautifully plated shrimp salad, thinly sliced cucumbers, and salmon roe over rye bread. Not too salty and very refreshing. * Poached farm egg with harissa, chickpeas, + peppers — $ 10 Just yum. Our server was extremely cheerful and welcoming. I really liked the clean white farmhouse décor and the gold-rimmed dishes.

I’m a little torn between a 3 and a 4. Pretty tiny place. Only one table that seats about 4. All others seats 2 and then a bar counter. 3: Because food here is just ok. Flavors are a bit more subtle. Nothing is too salty or too sweet, which could be a good thing, but also makes nothing stand out too much. We ordered the clams. $ 14. It was normal/good, but like I said nothing wowing. The rockfish was the same. It tasted fresh, but pretty flavorless. Like needs salt? Around $ 16. Got the Bay Shrimp open face sandwich. $ 12. I did not enjoy the bread it was on. Best part was the dill on this. The banana tapioca pudding was not bad. Not too sweet, which was more of a good thing. However, very very little banana flavor to it. The sangria I ordered had no ice, which is fine, but it was also filled up like 1⁄3 of the glass. Just odd serving so little for $ 8. Lunch ended up being $ 58 total before tip for 2 people, which is a bit hefty for not a lot of food. Overall, portions were small here. 4: The place is very bright with white walls and cute little accents. The chefs preparing the food seemed to be enjoying what they’re doing from my view of the open kitchen. That was a plus. Like they’re just enjoying their day sprinkling on the floral hints on top of my banana pudding. My server was also very pleasant. The sangria was actually pretty dang good though the portion was tiny as stated above. I can see myself returning for a drink/desserts, but having full on pricey lunch that isn’t super wowing? Pass.

Pretty adorable little french kitchen with a young man cooking chicken pâté while I enjoy a perfect snack of iced tea(with a single giant ice cube) with a small green salad(topped by pickled mustard seeds) as I gaze out the glass storefront past the crisp white tables, chairs, and walls, out to passerby out front. Many look inside to see what’s here! Atop my table is the biggest most beautiful flower that I’ve had the privilege of petting lately…
