McLoughlin Service

These guys have been amazing doing service on my Jeep. They have never made any problem out to be more than it is, and always do a «well let’s try the simpliest fix/​cheapest solution first» type of approach. They are considerate, and I appreciate that their focus seems to be on real customer service and good staff instead of a fancy waiting room.

Listen to this: The technicians here had finished the maintenance work, but the car-​washer fellow was at lunch. The service advisor — Jonny Brooks — got the keys and spent a few minutes washing my car himself. He didn’t want to impact other customers, so he had to skip vacuuming the inside of my car, which didn’t bother me a bit. Fact is, I got another round of excellent mechanical service from the McLoughlin team and some extraordinary personal attention from Jonny. He also went through with me the details and costs of my upcoming 30K maintenance, which’ll be due next Spring and now will have far fewer surprises. This is what I call truly exceptional customer service!

Johnny Brooks in service is fantastic. Personable, friendly, and detail oriented. Has helped me with service needs many times and he never fails to impress. If you own a car, and it’s not being serviced by Johnny, your missing out.

Stellar customer service after my car broke down at work and I called frazzled about getting it taken care of. Tow company arrived quickly and was delivered 10 miles away to their location. Was quickly fully assured it would be looked at with great care and was given a car so I could get home. All issues with the car were diagnosed and fixed to my satisfaction. I have recommended others to visit for service, no matter what make their car/​truck is… they will definitely take care of you!

I had heard good things about them before, and I was not disappointed.

I came to this dealership in a bind.
I had taken my Jeep to another Jeep dealer previous to coming here after they did a «repair» on my vehicle. I say «repair» because not only did the problem come back, but within 30 minutes it came back back WORSE (*cough* Gresham Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep *cough*). After calling various dealerships McLoughlin Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep was more than happy to take a look at it and not make me wait 3 weeks to do it.
McLoughlin went through the vehicle and narrowed it down to the previous dealership not re-​installing what they «fixed», correctly. Ugh.. .(*cough* Gresham Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep *cough* *asshats* cough*).
The dealership indicated that they could do the repair but I let them know that I would be taking it back to where it was originally «fixed» to have them make it right. John Brooks told me that would be fine and that he would have a detailed report drawn up so I could take it back to them and hopefully have them do it right.
John also went above and beyond and had my vehicle washed while I was on my way to pick it up. Needless to say, if I didn’t have to take it back to the dealership that originally «repaired» it then John definitely would have earned my business.

I called the service department on my way to work one morning in June of this year to set up an appointment to have my Jeep Commander checked out because my traction control service light was on. The woman I spoke to that was setting up the appointment was not friendly — she actually sounded surly — as though I was interrupting her and wasting her time. There were long silences on the phone where I wondered if she’d hung up. All that I asked was what appointments were open and if I could drop it off for them to work on. It wasn’t a rush. Maybe she was having a bad morning? I made my appointment, thought about it for a bit — then called around. I found the new Jeep Dealership in Wilsonville, made a call to them — I was treated courteously and the people were friendly. I cancelled my appointment at McLoughlin and spent my $ 800 with the Wilsonville dealership. If I’m paying more for service at the actual dealership, I believe I deserve to be treated as a valued customer, not an inconvenience.

Had the worst time with this place. Took car we bought there to have the convertible top worked on. The mechanic didn’t fix it after 5 days and was quoted a price of 850 to replace washers nuts and bolts and 1 spring, he actually broke the other spring trying to put the top down when showing my husband it would go down and up. The person checking you in quoted 350.00 a price for spark plug replacement which was not what the car was in for and after the issues with the convertible top stated a 20% discount for every thing to make it right charged $ 360.00 and said that was with the discount. AND wanted to charge over 200.00 for the time the mechanic spent on breaking our car worse… GET EVERYTHING IN WRITTING!!!
Find somewhere else to take your car.

I have taken my company vehicle here for service a couple times. Maggie is amazing at what she does!!! It is a vehicle on a lease plan so there are some hoops that have to be jumped through sometimes, and she goes above and beyond to try to help me the best she can when dealing with the lease plan. I have had issues with tow truck bring the car in without me there and she was able to help me and handle everything over the phone and made the process more convenient and work with my particular situations great in a timely manner!

My husband and I are from Florida and are on vacation in Oregon. The «Stop/​Start System» and «Service Engine» lights came on in our 2015 Jeep Cherokee. It was not shifting or accelerating properly. We needed this checked out before proceeding and were unable to locate a Jeep dealership in the area that would check this out for us. All wanted to give us an appointment for 3 – 5 days from now. When I called McLoughlin Jeep, Maggie Brown told us that they had a full schedule but to bring it in and they would at least diagnose the problem. If the Jeep needed parts that they had to order, they may not be able to fix it today. Our Jeep only needed computer updates that they were able to do and they had it back to us in 5 hours. Thank you Maggie Brown for being willing to help out-​of-​owners. We appreciate your friendly service on a day that was already quite busy for your mechanics.

I took my Jeep in today for an oil change and was very pleasantly surprised by the service department. From the moment we walked in Matt was great to work with. We will be back!

Came in for recall service on my Cherokee, I asked for a last minute 2 hour, same day appointment. Maggie Brown was able to get me in, and an oil change. She was awesome and very personable, I will definitely be coming back because of her. If you need service work or tires, go see Maggie!

Our PT Cruiser is thirteen years old with really low mileage (56,000). McLoughlin has helped us take good care and keep it running well. Maggie Brown just made an easy job of replacing the worn out computer, the wizard behind the curtain. And. we just keep on driving’…

Disgusted with recent service outing. Dispute over bill for work started but stopped by me (because other professionals told me I was paying WAY too much for stuff that might not be needed – a common complaint about dealerships) led to a tense 20 minute discussion with service advisor Maggie. (i am the distressed customer here without wheels to sign in person so that she will release my hostage Wrangler to my chosen towing company to move it to a different repair venue so i can get my wheels back). Upon my grudging agreement to pay the run-​up bill that I had not had the privilege of actually seeing, Maggie refused my credit card phone authorization. Her exact reason was she ‘suspect[ed’ we would ‘stop payment’ on the phone authorization (is that even possible? If possible, isn’t it also possible to sign in person and then stop payment? so what’s the difference other than to harass me? and why all the suspicion, just because I questioned the bill…) her boss, the service manager, said no, it was not about a stop payment, it was about [card data?] security. despite the fact that yesterday when all was cuddly and Maggie was going to realize her big commission she said no problem to a phone card authorization. After (~25 minutes of my life) arranging payment of the invoice and completing the same, i called back and asked for a faxed copy of the ‘diagnostic’ for which i had just paid $ 108 and a copy of the detailed invoice i had just paid. i was told such data is private by law and could not be faxed (some sort of HIPPA for cars?, i joked, incredulous). supposedly they are now mailing it to my address of long record.
i guess i am old school: i expect not only quality competitive prices on only needed services but also professionalism including honesty and common courtesy from a service provider.
anyway, after my four loyal years having these folks take exclusive care of my 2010 Wrangler Unlimited – which apparently they did not do very well since a heater core does not go out without cause in only 59,000 miles and even if then heater core repair should not cost anywhere near $ 16XX – i am COMPLETELY DONE with McLoughlin Chrysler Jeep.

Quality of work appears excellent. Only issue is price. I take my 300C here for warranty, recall, and technical repairs but too expensive for routine maintenance and simple repairs. Eg: a $ 12 air filter from an auto parts store that can be changed without tools in under 10 minutes has a part costs of $ 41.85 at this dealer.

So, I’ve had my Jeep (which I bought used from another dealership) for 8 years now. I had it towed to this dealership when it died while my hubby was driving it last weekend. Turns out the engine seized up and it was going to cost thousands of dollars to fix it and we had planned on trading it in within a year or so anyways. I knew it was on the critical list and that it would be expensive to fix it. So it made my decision to buy a new car pretty easy. Mind you, my Jeep was great but it was 13 yrs old, it was almost old enough to drive itself… yikes! Any who… my husband and I went to the dealership just to see what our options were for buying a new car. I started off by telling our salesman, Nick, that I wanted something cute and sporty, not a mom car and good on gas, that wouldn’t be too expensive and that my credit wasn’t great– basically that I wanted the unicorn of cars. Nick test drove 4 cars with us and patiently tolerated my husband and I bickering about which of the 2 cars we were deciding between. He offered his knowledge on both of the cars but wasn’t pushy at all. Ultimately, I won the battle and got the logical choice, a 2011 Nissan Altima and my car is gorgeous! Nick and Aaron, and some other finance guy (don’t remember his name) were all great. Aaron fought to get us the best rate possible for our loan and actually called back the next day and asked us to come back to re-​sign our papers because he was able to get us an even lower rate! This exceeded our expectations, we were prepared to sign a loan with an interest rate that was more than double what Aaron was able to get us. Nick, Aaron and the rest of the staff at this dealership are professional, friendly and the best at what they do. My husband and I have bought 6 cars over the years and this was by far the best car buying experience we have ever had. I would highly recommend buying and/​or servicing your car here.

Buyer Beware!
Shady Service Department: Come in with an oil change coupon… and walk out wondering how you just spent three hours and $ 500 in unnecessary «routine maintenance».
I discovered this dealership after coming to Portland to visit my mother, and found this is where she always takes her Jeep. She thought it was routine that she would have to pay between $ 500‑1200 in «routine maintenance and adjustments» every time she goes in for an oil change.
I complained. I was told that Terry, the service manager was busy but would call me back.
He never did. I am not surprised by this.
