I have been to Meriwethers for dinner and lunch several times and would generally give it four stars. It has been a particularly nice experience sitting in the garden patio on a summer night. My sisters from Santa Fe and Rhode Island were visiting this past weekend so I took them there. Two ordered spinach risotto. It was tasty but it looked awful, an iridescent green blob that almost spoiled their appetite, and mine as well. I ordered lamb chops, medium rare. They were like little leather balls, hard and tough. I could barely saw through them with my knife. I returned the dish. The manager was informed, apologized, and offered to redo the lamb chops, but I declined as my guests were halfway through their dinner. I was a little offset by what I thought was a nonchalant comment by the manager, «I guess someone left them on a little too long.» The waiter was more understanding of my disappointment and embarrassment, having taken my out of town guests there. He said, «We should get this right 100% of the time.» He is right.

One of my favorites. When I went there this past Friday the service was a little slower than usual but the ambiance and food was spot on. Love the seasonal pantry boards!!! The patio was closed due to overcast weather but I could sit out there, drink one of their creative signature cocktails, graze on delicious pantry board items and talk with friends for hours when the patio is open. Lot parking is a huge plus!

Food was excellent. Cleaned our plates. Pricey. Service was horrible. Took forever to take our order. Seemed impossible to get drink refill. I have had much better service on a $ 5 lunch where they got less of a tip. Not sure I would go back when so many other choices out there.

I went today for the first and last time. I have not idea why this place has so many good reviews. Meal The food was ok, nothing special. My mother in law and I ordered the chicken sandwich and we both agree that It wasn’t good. I asked my husband about his meal and he also mentioned that it was just ok. Service Horrible, Sharis has better customer service. The server never introduced himself, just took our drink order in a rush, then the food order. When the food runner delivered the food I asked for a set of silverware, then a Napkin and he kinda threw the napkin on the table and he made a face. When we almost finished our meals the server came and asked if everything was ok. Lol Two minutes after, he came back with the check and rushed us to pay. Note: I checked all around the restaurant and I notice that most guests had all their glasses empty like ours(they never offered refill on any of our drinks; Ice Tea, coffee, etc)

One of my favorite brunch spots of all time! Food has always been spot on and sometimes, I have had slow service. But hey, they’re humans too and we all have off days time to time. I will always keep coming for more!

Not worth too much time, but food is marginal at best. Crab deviled eggs… Yuck. My mom’s circa 1960 were light years better. Like the old joke, «the food was terrible and it’s too bad the portions were small!» 2 half eggs —one egg is an order! Pizza of the day was passable. Chickpea fries were decent albeit 4 fries! Worst part… Outrageously expensive… Best part… Atmosphere is okay. Quaint.

My spouse and I returned for our 28th anniversary and enjoyed seating in the living room with a fireplace and a view of Vaughn St. Our cocktails were good. My spouse had the rhubarb with lemon cocktail which tasted better than my margarita. I have learned to make my own margarita and I make it with 1.5 oz of silver tequila but my drink maybe had 2 oz of tequila which made me feel tipsy and unstable on my feet. My spouse had the Painted Hills Steak($ 44) and I had the roasted chicken with forager mushrooms and panisse(looks like polenta cakes but made with chickpea flour). Both meals were generously portioned and made with high quality local ingredients. Both meals were gluten free, so after our dessert of lavendar crème brûlée with homemade limoncello, we felt satisfied but not overstuffed. We chose to have a house salad and a soup of the day instead of the pantry board for our appetizer as I felt those were a better value. Our bill this year was $ 94.

Good food, mediocre service, mosquitoes. The outdoor dining area is heralded as beautiful and it is pretty. Food ingredients are fresh from the farm. But our visit for dinner was disappointing primarily because of servers who were consistently slow and inattentive. And then to get home and realize multiple mosquito bites. I’ve eaten outdoors at many many restaurants and I don’t ever remember one with mosquito problems like last night.

The food, cocktails, service, and ambiance are truly excellent. This was a delightful evening from beginning to end. Although we got stuck in traffic and arrived late, they were extremely accommodating and we had a wonderful dining experience. My blood orange Cosmo and mushroom pasta were both divine. The food is fresh, flavorful, and creative. A must try!

I have wanted to try Meriwether’s for as long as I can remember. I went last night with my husband and a friend. All of us were just blown away by the entire experience. We started with a pantry board with pork belly, steak bites and dungenesss crab deviled eggs, Everything was amazing. For dinner we decided to give the Portland Dining Month 3 courses for $ 29 a go because it was such a great deal and wow… we were amazed at how wonderful the whole meal was and the portions were very generous too. Such great food for such a great deal. I love how the restaurant also provides paper discussing the items which came direct from their farm, even now when very limited items are growing, they are still working to provide that farm to table experience.

4.25 stars. Went here for Valentines Day. You will note that this restaurant is in an industrial area. There is only on street parking. There is no lot. The restaurant décor was nice, but not over the top. Patron dress code here seems to be the portland anything goes. We saw some people in cocktail dresses and suits sitting across from people who were wearing bi-mart/farm store chic denim. Bearded and tattooed hip across the room from grandma’s with their string of elegant pearls. A great mix of patrons. Service was spot on. Well balanced mixed drinks. Vegetarian offerings which makes my Mr. very happy. It was a tasting menu for valentines but portions were nice size. It wasn’t like a smear on a plate with 2 peas and then you go home and eat again. The portions were nice. I enjoyed the beef offering very much. Prob the most tender beef I have ever experienced. Desserts were also nice size and not overly sweet. Before the night was up we caught a mistake on our bill. We were almost charged for 3 additional items that we did not order, so keep an eye on your bill. The gratuity was automatically added to the bill, just FYI. I am not sure if they do this as standard practice so just take note. I found that their flavors were not over the top, and it was not the best meal I have ever had. My palate demands robust flavors and seasonings. I would come here again to see what their regular menu is like and or their brunch offerings. This would be the type of place to celebrate a more posh grandma’s birthday or 50th anniversary dinner. Standard but upscale American faire done really well. I enjoyed my valentines at Meriwether’s. Addendum— as per another Unilocaler friend –Two things, they only add gratuity on holidays and there is a tiny parking lot off Vaughn that has maybe 15 spots.

Had a father-daughter Saturday brunch. Their menu was varied — the usual brunch favs but with a nice classy twist. She had a Dungeness crab omelet while I decided on the chicken chilaquiles. Her dish came with potatoes — uniquely cut and flavored — and toast. Mine had two eggs served sunnyside but with a crisp burned edge to the egg-white(just the way I like it) The chicken was spiced just right and on top of homemade tortilla chips with salsa on one side. My first chilaquiles — basically nachos for breakfast — and so well prepared. We both had cups of coffee — mine was decaf that was freshly prepared. Very intense and strong flavor. This was my first brunch although I’ve been here for dinner three times and once for an after-wrork happy hour!

Great service and old time hospitality which I appreciate. I’ve only been for brunch and both time I was impressed. The first time I went I go a sausage omelet and it was delicious. Second time I went, I tried the crab omelet and OMG, so amazing. You have to try it. Both dishes came with seasoned red potatoes which are perfectly cooked and seasoned with herbs. If you drink at brunch like most people, they have pineapple, orange and pomegranate juice for your mimosa. I mixed a bit of pom juice with my pineapple and it was oh so yummy. Cute place off Vaughn you can’t miss it. They have a private parking area to the left(west) side of the restaurant. They don’t seat you til your entire party is there so come together! Good for groups of 6 or less.

This is a review by a vegetarian This seemed like just the place to bring out-of-town seniors. But it was louder than expected, had a lot of stairs, and the food was just okay for the price. Service was professional. I’d hit it again for an outdoor table or to try brunch

Visited this place for brunch on a weekend. This place reminds me of the classy grandma from Beverly Hills that I’ve never had. Entering the building has a very homey feeling and its like you’re visiting grandmas for the weekend and can chat over mimosas cause-you fancy and she’s lived life. The servers here were very nice and seating is ample but if you’re going after a holiday then prepare to wait because the families love this place. I ended up with the duck egg sandwich. Because duck egg! The bread was so light and fluffy when I cut into it with my fork I wondered how it still held its shape, I love it when my sandwiches are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The duck egg was cooked perfectly and oozed when I sliced into it. There is a definite difference in duck egg, it was extremely rich and creamy and not gamey. The greens that accompanied the sandwich were crisp and tarte. I can definitely tell these ingredients were farm fresh. I also got a drink but downed it too fast to remember anything… I haven’t tried dinner here yet but I recommend brunch here.

OK, I really wanted to like this restaurant. Just didn’t happen. We decided to try this place for an early dinner before a night at the theater. Called to see if I would need early reservations and was told that they always have counter dining. When I responded we’d try another day because we don’t want«counter dining» they said they would definitely have a table for us. After arriving 10 minutes early we were finally shown a table 20 minutes later than we were told. Again, let me reiterate it was scheduled to be an early dinner because of our Broadway Theater date. The table is a very small cast iron table, meant as a patio table. Not what I would expect from a high end restaurant. The menu was interesting but nothing stood out as stellar or identified as a signature dish. Portions were small and expensive. I don’t mind paying for expensive food, but it’s got to be worth it. This food is not. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by living in Chicago for years, but I expect so much more from a high end restaurant. Perfect Portland Lunch. This just might be the best restaurant to bring out of town guests. The location, Interior design and food choices all reflect Portland’s playlist. Since I am over 21, I decided to turn up, so I ordered an adult drink. The Oregon Royale, spendy but worth it, a very festive libation. You had me at Brioche; Meriwether’s burger, grilled onion, preserved pepper relish, pearl bakery brioche. This Could be the best burger I’ve had in years. I did not add cheese, it didn’t need it. It was so flavorful and smoky, I can really taste the quality in the meat. The peppers add a perfect amount of heat. I truly enjoyed every bite. It comes with freedom fries that were sinfully good and sliced pickles on the side. If you’re a pickle freak like me, you’ll love these. I would love to come back for their brunch, but how do I NOT get that burger again. Service seemed slightly stressed and was stretched thin. Considering its on the spendy side and you will need to make reservations. It would be a great restaurant for a special occasions and or out of town friends and family. I really, really loved this place

Wow! So glad we were introduced to Meriwether’s. I was deeply sadden when Wildwood’s doors shuttered in early 2014. I loved their farm to table concept and always enjoyed celebrations there. I’ve definitely found a suitable replacement here. We came here for an anniversary celebration brunch on a Sunday. Reservations were easily made online through OpenTable. It was a quaint and cozy restaurant with it’s own parking lot. We started with the pastry of the day, which was a monkey muffin. I felt it was a little dry and for it’s size, $ 5 was a bit much. We were immediately offered fresh squeezed OJ when we sat down. Bf got a glass($ 5) and I opted for the fresh squeezed grapefruit juice(also $ 5). When our waitress, Micki, brought my grapefruit juice out she also surprised us with a VIP toast on the house(prosecco). We decided we needed more booze and ordered an Irish coffee. I was weary since I hate warm alcohol, but their Irish coffee was quite pleasant. I wasn’t overwhelmed with the aroma of rubbing alcohol that a lot of warm alcohol gives off. It was delicious. I would get it again. For our entrees, I ordered the fish of the day, which was bacon wrapped monk fish. It came with farro, sauteed kale, turnip purée, and a citrus sauce. It was amazing. The monk fish was most and had a great texture, almost like lobster. The greens were flavorful and fresh and the farro was fun to eat. Bf went with steak frites. It was tasty, and the fries were crisp. However, the monk fish was definitely the winner especially since both were $ 21. I would have preferred two monk fish entrees and forget the steak frites. Too full for dessert, but happy the meal was so delicious. I will have to come back, hopefully soon!

Eat and be merry at Meriwether’s. In December they have Christmas trees and decorations all over the restaurant. Hark the herald angels sing, eat and be merry! Glory for the Eggs Benedict with shaved ham are perfect. Good hollandaise! Complimented with the simple potato simply herb crusted potatoes, extra crunchy on the outside, creamy smooth on the inside — and I rubbed them in a river of hollandaise — puts this dish over the top for a holiday brunch! Our waiter was excellent, friendly and knew the menu well. The manager was most accommodating to my wife’s 84-year-old Ma who gets around on the scooter. Eat and be merry! But you know, really and seriously, the angels sing«glory to the newborn King!» The real reason we celebrate at Christmas. But there’s nothing wrong with getting in the spirit with good food either so let Meriwether’s hook you up!

This is another spot that I frequent for lunch since it is close to my work. If you go here Mon-Fri you get the business crowd and may think that it is an upscale restaurant. While it’s not a dive, it’s not extremely upscale and the dress code isn’t what it would appear to be on the weekdays! So relax heading here in your jeans, plaid shirt and Chuck Taylors. The menu here is awesome and the best part is it’s all farm fresh. They boast the list of ingredients that are farm fresh on the menu. They have a wide variety of food from Sandwiches to pasta. I’ve had it all and it is all very good. If you stumbled here looking for a recommendation: 1. The Rueben is killer, and very large so be warned. 2. The Chicken Salad Sandwich is delicious and a lighter option than the Rueben. 3. Any of the pasta dishes are delicious! This is a nice restaurant with ample indoor and patio seating. I recommend taking a stroll through lower McLeay Park and then grabbing lunch!

This is definitely our new go-to brunch spot. We love going out every Sunday and this place is perfect. The building is really cool, with different levels of dining, nice windows with natural light and a bar up top as you walk in. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. We had made a reservation and the place was packed when we got there at 11AM. Nonetheless, we were seated right away… long wait line for walk-ins so I’m glad we were prepared. The menu is amazing — the perfect blend of classic meets farm to table meets eclectic. They have the standard brunch items for traditionalists and then some more different options for people who are looking for something more off the wall. I had the dutch baby as it’s one of my faves and I can never pass it up. My husband had the brioche french toast… both were to die for. Our scrambled eggs were equally delicious. My mother in law had the quiche with a salad, which she raved about and my father in law had the chicken and waffles(first timer) which he loved as well, and came complete with a topping of peach compote. The fresh squeezed orange juice was truly the best I’ve ever had. Nice mix of clientele — young, old, special occasions, ladies brunching etc… We will be back a lot! PS — street parking is ample so we didn’t have to spend forever looking for a spot.
