really too bad some contractors in Portland act this way…
DO NOT answer the phone if you are busy on a job and then proceed to say its ok «i can talk»
tell me to text you my address and that you will call me back with a date to come bid the job…
you never responded to the text … never called me back …
that’s cool if your busy and don’t need another client– just do us all a favor and at least tell us this ! to not call — not return a text/​message is just poor business

We used Mike to redo the existing oak floors in our new Midcentury ranch, to lay new hardwoods to blend with the existing oak floors (added about 700 sq feet of new floor), and to stain the entire floor a dark color. Result is awesome! The floors look wonderful, and we get compliments constantly.
Mike was very good and timely with communication, showed up when he said he would, and finished when he said he would. We were tough customers (yeah, I can admit it), and he was very professional with us. Oh, and the price was super competitive (we got three quotes).
Don’t hesitate; call mike for a quote!

Update to the review — NEVER EVER would we recommend this place. Today at just under 2 weeks (we waited as recommended) we came back into our kitchen and while from far away it seemed to look OK, we now see that the floor shows splotches everywhere, and it’s very obvious it wasn’t sealed well at all. A few drops of water end up being white splotches on the floor which don’t clear up for hours. In a kitchen, this is completely unacceptable.
Poor, poor workmanship. it’s clear these guys do not know how to work with water based finishes and they should have NEVER agreed to do the job if they didn’t have the expertise in this.
Massive waste of money.

I found Mike on Unilocal and called him based on his reviews. They’re true. He delivers a good product at a good price. He and his team revitalized our *top-​nailed* floors –which showed its age in the high-​traffic areas– in a little more than a day. They look like new.
Mike was the first of three contractors that came by to give estimates. He came by on short notice (less than 24 hours, on a Saturday morning) and took a no nonsense approach to providing a very competitive estimate. Where I felt the other two contractors seemed to try to ‘prime’ me for a higher price by talking about the difficulty of the top-​nailed floor, Mike barely mentioned it in passing.
We are very satisfied with Mike’s work, and we wouldn’t hesitate to hire him and his team again.
So, why not five stars? We found several spaces on the walls had been scuffed in the process. Nothing a little paint won’t fix, of course. Also, we asked to have the molding replaced. I assumed that ‘replace’ meant we would get sanded, varnished pieces, just like what had been there before. Instead, we’ll need to do the sanding and varnishing ourselves. Carefully and slowly. Yes, I should have clarified that beforehand. But it would have been nice if Mike had set my expectations for what I’d be getting.
Hire Mike and his team. And be very clear on what you want. That’s what you’ll get.

Great experience with Mikes hardwood. We gave them no time, no notice, and weren’t even here to meet him (we just bought the house and asked him to do the floors before we moved in). All that working against him and he still did an amazing job. Very happy with every part of the floors, would definitely recommend his work. Thanks Mike!

Mike did a fantastic job on our floors. He was detail oriented and really listened to what we were wanting to see for our final product. He took bare pine flooring from really rough to Wow! He worked with our schedule and the one day he was running late he texted me to let me know when he would be arriving. He was polite, neat and had great prices. We had called 5 other flooring companies; he had completed the first part of the job before any of the other companies called back.
We are very happy with our floors and would recommend his work to anyone who wants their wood floors to be beautiful.

I was referred to Mike by a property manager who’s remodeled dozens of homes and found him to be one of the best! I couldn’t agree more. Mike and his crew not only did an impeccable job installing maple hardwoods throughout my entire top floor, the were very reasonably priced, punctual, reliable, and communicated along the way.

Mike got a hold of me after reading my review. Apparently he was having cell phone issues and didn’t get my address. He came out immediately and gave a very competitive estimate. Now I’m just waiting for the insurance company.

I couldn’t even get them to come out for an estimate. I called and left a message, Mike called back and said he would be here on Saturday. He asked me to text him my address which I did. By 2 pm Saturday I had not heard from him so texted him and today is Tuesday and I have heard nothing at all from him. Evidently he doesn’t need my business.

I agree completely with the other review. I needed the work done quickly and cheaply. I had terrible looking floors under carpet, old linoleum, and patch repair work that needed done. Mike met me after 5pm which was convenient, and showed me some work I could do on refinishing 93 year old fir floors to help save money.
He then was able to schedule the job within the week. He came out, refinished the floors, and met back up later in the week to address a few problem areas I had. The floors looked fantastic and you can not even tell where he had to put patched boards in from another room.
His prices were dirt cheap and his work was top quality. Extremely friendly, knowledgable and a very hard worker. I will use Mike again and you should too.
