Great experience! This is a difficult thing to go through, period, and Garrett at MTSO made it virtually painless. The reporting was comprehensive and thorough, with recommendations that were critical versus others that may have less urgency (which was very helpful financially). Garrett at MTSO has been a valuable asset to us in our first home buying experience. We had a nasty black mold situation in a rental, so we are a bit paranoid about mold! There was no mold in the first house that we put an offer on, but Garrett found several moisture-​related issues with the home that were missed by our home inspector, including water in the crawl space from a cracked foundation. We ended up walking away because of the crack and wouldn’t have known about the issue if it wasn’t for Garrett. On a second home, we had some concerns about moisture and mold, and Garrett confirmed for us that there were some serious issues. In all instances, he was professional and easy to work with, explaining each part of his inspection in detail and allowing us to shadow him and ask questions as he looked over the homes. He went above and beyond to discuss some of our concerns over the phone on several occasions, expedited the results of lab samples when we were in a time-​crunch, and looked over a previous inspector’s report at no extra cost to us. We will definitely call on Garrett as part of our inspection process in any home that we purchase.

If you have a moldy situation, or think you might have one, this company is the one to get on the task. Polite, professional and very easy to work with. I have two commercial buildings, which are currently being used as a gym, mixed martial arts and cross fit training. I can NOT have any mold or anything that looks like mold to be around these hard training people. MTSO came out, tested and reported the results very quickly. I would hire them again.

Garrett came by for a $ 350 mold inspection. He did an inside inspection and a perimeter inspection, giving us pointers of what was ‘bad,’ what was ‘not ideal,’ etc. and ways to remedy the situation. He then was honest and said that since we had moldy boxes (from being up against a wall– even without a leak on the wall– who knew?), that test samples would be pointless, and allowed us to change our visit to a consultation visit, thus saving us $ 250. Amazing. Would recommend him to anyone– very kind, professional, and thorough.

Okay, we exaggerate, but only a little. Garrett was a Godsend for us and has helped us tremendously in a tough situation. We rented a house that has had long standing mold and water intrusion issues in the basement that were hidden from us before we leased the house.
After asking for weeks that the landlords do something, we decided to take matters into our own hands and do a mold inspection. We contacted a friend who recommended Garrett. We were pretty desperate at that point, so he came out pronto, was super responsive, and wrote a very thorough and detailed report of the problems and how they should be mitigated.
He is friendly, knowledgeable, professional, accessible, and caring. Truly, he has been a lifeline for us in answering all of our questions on all things mold.
Additionally, I really like him because he doesn’t do mitigation. He’s totally neutral and a great arbiter if you end up in a situation where your landlord and your property manager start going to war over who was responsible for the mold debacle.

Garret saved my life and gave me the knowledge and steps I needed to take to handle this horrible situation in the best way possible. It is really hard to prove mold problems and there is a lot of deception, lies, and cover ups due to the huge number of mold lawsuits over the last ten years and the large settlements being won. The reason you need an inspection is to have the professionally printed results of it, so you have a way to show exactly what you’ve been exposed to and how much there is in separate areas as well as outside. Having the results clear, easy to understand, and extremely thorough is very important because this is a very hard situation that the slightest error or hint of exaggeration can ruin your chance for any recovery. I was so lucky to contact Garret first, he came that same day and did a very detailed and extensive inspection making notes and photographing every issue that was causing the mold. He was caring and honest, and he told me to move my dog and I out as soon as I could, without even having the results yet. I moved out the next day and all kinds of health problems I had been experiencing completely went away– like hives, aching joints, swollen feet, chronic fatigue, weight loss, constant sore throat and itchy red eyes, and horrible memory and concentration with any task im trying to do. Ive gotten to talk to other mold inspectors and they all said he does good work and is respected by everyone which is very helpful in a situation where you could end up going to court and need them to speak about the inspection and the results.
