Noah’s Arf

The staff at Noah’s Arf are nice, but they are not well-​informed on dog safety and do not seem to have the screening process that they claim to have. I have taken my dogs here many times and I do not feel safe bringing them back. I have watched dogs attacking other dogs in their play yard, through the window in their lobby. I have also heard horror stories about other customer’s dogs receiving bad injuries while under their care. Word travels fast in the dog community.
Another thing that I have noticed is that they seem to always be over capacity. Every time I have watched my dogs interact through the window, I have noticed that there are way too many dogs in there and they seem to not have a limit on the amount of dogs that they take in. I understand that they are in a busy neighborhood, but again, the safety of these dogs is much more important. I do not think that safety laws are being enforced in this establishment.
While the staff is nice, I have heard about many people having challenges with the owner, regarding her honesty and care toward the dogs. She seems to be in this business for the money and after years of bringing my dogs here, very frequently, she had no idea who my dogs were when I have come in to pick up my dog, nor is she around very often.
I would recommend going to a much smaller daycare, where the ratio of staff members to dogs is not 10x the amount. I’m sure that your dog would appreciate being in a much more relaxed environment, unlike this place that seems to be more chaotic than it is worth.

I’ve taken my dog to get groomed by Nancy at Noah’s Arf multiple times. The haircut is great, but very expensive. $ 60 for a four pound dog seems excessive. Shortly after a haircut, I took my dog to the veterinarian and was told that, although Nancy had claimed to pull the hair out of my dog’s ears and clip her nails, neither of the services had actually been done. The veterinarian showed me the inside of her ears and explained that the ear hair still present in her ears could not have possibly been properly cleaned out just weeks before coming in. My dog’s nails were also very long and I had to pay, again, to have the service done. We went back to Nancy again and told her about the problem, but we’re disappointed to realize that after another (cute but expensive) haircut, the same services had been neglected. Just not worth the hassle and I’d rather go somewhere that I know will actually follow through on the services I am paying for.

They have a wonderful groomer! She takes the best care of my little pug. The staff is always super friendly and dogs seem happy to be there. Also, a great selection of accessories and toys.

My rescue dog is a fourteen pound bundle of energy with Italian Greyhound legs, a mini dachshund length and Min Pin attitude. I was worried because she had a tough life as a puppy mill mom with her pups sold as Min Pins, and has a distended uterus from multiple litters. How would she cope with other dogs? How would the staff treat a little mutt who looks a little goofy? Well I was able to watch her interact with the other dogs and staff through an observation window and she was fine. That was 19 months ago. Noah’s is her weekday home away from home. She has also kenneled overnight many times and does fine. She looks forward to her visits. The staff is so sweet and attentive. They have group settings for dogs separated by demeanor and have staff in with the dogs watching their behavior. I have every confidence in the staff and their approach to daycare. The space is not fancy but it’s clean; frankly I’d be worried if it looked like boutique or something.
If you have a dog that likes to be away from other dogs, and spoiled rotten even when they’re not with you, this may NOT be the place for you. If your dog relishes the opportunity to be a dog, playing with other dogs, this is the place. Take your dog to Noah’s for a fun day, spoil ‘em when they’re with you, and your dog will be like Abi, who has the best of ‘both’ worlds!

This place is fantastic. They are professional, kind, caring. The self dog wash is very clean and we’ll spaced. They also provide top of the line products.

My husband and I have been taking our dog here a couple times a week now for a few months. Before we started taking him he had a few issues with chewing when we were gone /​just destroying things overall. Since we’ve started taking him he’s able to get all his energy out there and has not destroyed a single thing at home. They post pictures of the dogs on Facebook and at the first visit they give you a really cute report card. The staff are always super friendly. When we get our dog home he instantly is ready for bed. And in regards to the person who was freaked out that their dog came home and drank a lot of water – I think that’s pretty normal. Even when my dog is at the dog park with an accessible water bowl he will usually drink a lot when we get home. When you’re having fun sometimes you forget to drink water!

I love this place. We visit every two weeks rain or shine for bath day, it’s always an easy and fun chore. The staff if friendly and helpful. I recommend the do it yourself Dog Wash.

The only place I have ever trusted to care for our pets! Kris, the owner is caring and works hard to provide the very best of care for all of the animals. My daughter is a regular drop in to checkout the animals.
If you have not met Java Bean and Fifi you should! Some businesses have a true passion and love for what they do and at Noah’s Arf it is obvious in how they care for our pets!

This review will probably be confusing, as I have had mixed emotions about my dog’s stay with Noah’s Arf. My Irish Setter has a total of 11 nights here, between various stays, and 2 days of day care. Day care was never a problem, and my dog seemed to enjoy herself and return home pretty tired, which indicated to me that she had run and exercised. But on this last stay of 3 overnights, when I picked her up she ran to me, as usual, but something was different. When I got her home, she drank a ton of water, which she never does. They returned my bag of food to me and when I checked it, there was much more food than there should have been after this stay. Additionally I left 4 containers of Beneful to use as a topper. I requested that they use ½ of the tub for each feeding and yet when I returned there was no Beneful remaining and the envelope of cold cuts that I left was even half gone. I think they didn’t follow my instructions. My dog has been acting very strange since I picked her up. She is an extremely active dog, and when I am with her now, she just stays right at my side. When I get ready to leave the house, she whimpers, which she never, ever has done. So, I am confused as to what has occurred during this last stay. I admit I have already checked on another day care center and will probably not return to Noah’s Arf. A friend of mine had a similar circumstance and when she questioned the folks at Noah’s Arf they told her that her dog had been placed in «containment» for 23 hours because she had been aggressive. She, too, had left her dog there on many, many occasions, but suddenly, something happened.
Additionally, when I picked up my dog, she smelled horribly of urine. I took her home immediately and bathed her. It is also extremely strange that when I throw her ball to her, which she loved to catch, she dodges the ball before it hits her. It’s almost as if something was thrown at her, and now she is afraid. I think I’ll just go elsewhere.

First, I want to say, the employees are very friendly and seem to treat the dogs nicely, but this isn’t the only criteria I’m looking for in a boarding place where I leave my dogs overnight.
I took my dogs two frenchies, here twice. Once, for a half day and once for three days where they stayed over night. I give Noah’s Arf 4 stars for the half day, my dogs returned happy and energetic. I give Noah’s Arf 2 stars for the 3 day stay, because when they returned home, both were drinking a ton of water (they went through3 large bowls upon their return home) and one of the bags that I had packed for the last day, labeled lunch) was still there. This led me to believe, at least on the last day they were not fed lunch and did not get enough water. Frenchies, especially when they are active and playing with other dogs need to always have enough water and the employees should be been on top of things in that regard. Second, I packed my pups’ dog food in individual sized ziplocks with the correct amount of food for each dog, for lunch and dinner with days and dates labeled on them. It should not have been difficult to figure out that the ziplocks (which was labeled «lunch on Monday 9/​22») should have been given to them on that day. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning to Noah’s Arf. While the employees seemed friendly, my main concern is that my dogs are at least, kept safe (this was not a problem here), feed their meals and given ample water. So based on our two experiences I give an average of 3 stars. Very disappointing.

I have a two year old english bulldog is a tank and he has a very energetic personality that many other daycare centers just didn’t understand. I was so anxious the first day I brought my dog here but the staff was incredibly nice, put me at ease and even gave my bulldog a report card after his first day! I loved it and even better, my dog loved it too! He now knows all the different routes we take when we walk up to Noah’s Arf and gets excited knowing that he’s going to spend the day there. I’ve never had a problem here and the cost for services is just perfect. My dog and I are absolutely thrilled with Noah’s Arf.

I took my dog to Noah’s Arf the other day (3÷3÷14) for a grooming. Nancy did the nicest grooming job my doggie has had since moving to Portland.
BUT…I will not be going back Because…
I entered the establishment into the retail area. Everything looked lovely and clean. Nancy greeted me and as we walked down the hall past the kennel area to the grooming room I was assailed by a filthy, foul smell which didn’t bode well.
We continued to the grooming room and it, too, was filthy. Why I didn’t turn and leave at that point I don’t know. There are about 10 grooming tables but there was no other groomer in sight. Nancy was the only groomer working at the time. I looked around and saw a light coating of hair all over every table and the floor. Nancy was finishing grooming another dog and the table and the floor around it were covered with a thick coat of hair. I asked if she was going to clean it up before grooming my dog and she said she cleaned it at the end of the day because it just keeps collecting hair as the day proceeds. When she picked up my dog and started to put her on the table I had to tell her to spray down the table where she had just finished grooming the prior dog before putting my dog on the table. She did as I asked and sprayed all the equipment she used as she proceeded with my dog’s grooming.
As I said, Nancy did a beautiful grooming job… BUT I won’t be going back because the place is so filthy. I read the other reviews before deciding to go there and find it difficult to believe that no one commented on how dirty the place was and even saying it was so clean.
P. S. I paid $ 55.00 to groom my 10 pound HavaPoo plus a nice tip for Nancy. She deserved it.

I don’t understand some of these negative reviews.
My experience at Noah’s Arf has been completely positive.
I recommend it to all my friends who have dogs.
Laurie and Christine are excellent managers.
They are friendly, professional and kind.
I have not seen staff turnover in the two plus years I have been bringing my dog here.
The place is spotless; the dogs are well-​cared for and safe.
I have watched my dog in the enclosure with staff, interacting with other dogs.
And I believe he is being carefully monitored.
His socialization is much improved since he started attending.
My dog’s reaction to Noah’s Arf when we are two blocks away in our car is the final proof of how great this place is. He starts woo-​wooing and scrabbles like a demon to get inside with his «friends,» nary a single good-​bye look over his shoulder at me.

The worst customer service ever. The woman who works the front counter, Lauren or Laurie or something like that, is without a doubt the most rude, ill mannered, almost hostile person I have ever encountered in a customer service capacity. I would not trust those people with a lawn toy, let alone my beloved dog!

took our dog here for self wash. Very nice place, clean, new equipment. My only gripe is the drying table can only be accessed from one side, otherwise was a good place to wash your dog.

We LOVE Noah’s Arf! And when I say we I also mean both my canine boys as well! Before we even pull up my boys are in the back getting all excited because they know where they are headed:) And keep in mind we only really take them once or twice a month to get some of their energy out when we aren’t able to.
We started coming here after we had a bad experience with a local doggie daycare that appears to be all high class & professional – but lets just say they are prejudiced against certain breeds & they don’t want to have to work at their jobs – you can read my full review of their establishment that «Sniff’s» their noses up at others. Shadra at Noah’s Arf helped make our change easy, effortless, & most importantly helped to calm our anxiety of having to switch daycare establishments! And we are SO glad we did! Our pups are so excited to play here and looooove the staff!
As far as their other services we haven’t used their boarding services yet but definitely will on our next trip away where we can’t bring our companions. We also haven’t used their grooming services as it is just cheaper to use the DIY dogwash area and we liked that just fine. The area is nice and clean & they have all the supplies you could need.
I do wish the pricing were a bit cheaper for a day (or even just a half day) of doggie daycare – even to just offer a 10−20% discount for multiple dogs like other places – but their rates are comparable for the quality of the care they receive & the quality of the establishment. We have researched more establishments than we care to admit but we really want the best for our canine humans – and for the price, quality, & cleanliness (& yummy smell – the other reviewer that mentioned the amazing smell here is so right! We also purchased some of their yummy candles because they truly eliminate smells! :)) –you just can’t do better than Noah’s Arf!

I chose to come to Noah’s Arf cuz I read all the great reviews and they for sure do hold up to 5 stars! I came to wash my neighbors dog that we are dog sitting for and wanted to give her a bath using their Self Dog Washing Service.
When you first walk in, it is extremely clean, organized and smells ssssoooo good! I even bought one of the candles they had burning cuz it smelled so great! I was greeted by one of the managers and she was super friendly. She brought me to the back where she explained everything and showed me where everything was that I could use. The self washing is actually in the same room with their professional dog groomers, No pressure lol. They give you a basket with all your grooming needs, different kinds of brushes, combs, shedding tools, scissors, nail trimmers… and an array of like 7 different shampoos that are in the actual bottles, not out of some dispenser. The tubs have steps for your dog so you dont have to lift them.
It was also so cool to see that they allow owners to come in and actually supervise or help the Groomer work on their pet. Of course I was watching and listening the whole time and the Groomer was so friendly with her client. I just think its so cool that they have nothing to hide and everything is out in the open… I even saw another customer come back for a nail trim and its just so cool that they do all this stuff with you there so you can comfort your dog and they totally allow it!

Noah’s Arf is a great place to self-​service bathe your dog. They supply a wide variety of dog shampoos — that are rich and not watered down like so many self-​serve dog wash places, and a basket full of tools like nail trimmers, ear cleaner, stiptic paste (in case you clip the dog’s nails too close and it bleeds), and of course brushes and treats. The blowers are good and strong, and encased in cabinets so they aren’t so loud that they frighten the dog.
Really nice people, too.
I’ve been to several self-​service dog grooming businesses, and this one stands out.

My puppy and I love Noah’s Arf! It was so easy and fast to drop him off, which is key when I’m on my way to work in the morning. They took him off my hands right away, before I even filled out paperwork or paid, so I could have my hands free and Benny could get to playing! This is so different from my other doggy daycare experiences where they make me wait in the lobby while they take everyone’s dogs back slowly one at a time while my puppy is going crazy trying to greet the other dogs and I’m getting late for work! I also love the report card they filled out for him after his first visit. So cute! It made me feel like they really paid attention to him because they knew who he was. :) when I came to pick him up, they knew Benny by name already and gave me a little run down of his day, who he played with, how he played, and how he behaved.
I have tried other daycares for my puppy, and this is the one I will stick with. Not pretentious, not super crowded, not too laid back, but just our style. At every other daycare, when I pick him up he has lots of cuts and scars from scratches or bites. There wasn’t a scratch on him from Noah’s. I know he plays rough, he’s a Boston, but someone should be watching them to make sure my puppy isn’t getting too manhandled by the big dogs, or at least make note of it when I pick him up. Thanks Noah’s Arf! You guys are the best!

I happened to be driving through Portland and working just for the day. I brought my dog with me on this road trip and I needed him to stay somewhere while I was working.
I called 4 or 5 other places that would be unable to have him for a doggy day care since I did not live in the area so they could not do an intake interview. I was so glad when Noah’s Arf said they could help me out! I filled out the application and faxed them his shot records before my visit so it was very helpful that they had all the information on the website.
What they do with new dogs is place this in kennels that are on the perimeter of the play area and let the dog meet all the other dogs when they feel comfortable. I was so glad that Winston fit right in and had lots of fun playing with other dogs.
The grooming services can be a bit expensive but he did get a bath and a good brushing during his stay so he was all nice and clean for my visit to my parents house the next day.
They even give you a report card on who your dog was during the visit. Next time I work in Portland I will use them! Great company and all of the employees seemed so happy to work here!
