I love to knit, and I love this little shop.
They have an exquisite and fairly large selection of yarns of all different fibers. There’s something for everyone, all the different levels of knitters, from beginners to experts. There are wonderful displays of hand knit items, with patterns along side them. I’ve done a few of these, and it’s helpful to see a finished product before you begin. Pretty much ensures you know what you’re getting.
The shop is very well laid out and organized. The shopkeepers are helpful, and attentive. I’m doing a hat pattern at the moment, and made a silly mistake not marking where I was at in the pattern when I stopped the other night. I picked up where I thought I left off on the pattern yesterday, and again this afternoon, and then realized, oops, I skipped a huge step, quite a few rows back. I am terrible at pulling out rows without dropping stitches, and it takes me forever. I brought my hat into the shop, and asked if they would mind pulling them out for me, and they were happy to do so… and only took them a few minutes. Phew, would have taken me at least an hour.
The shop also offers classes.

I’m a beginner and they were unbelievably attentive and helpful. And the selection is top notch. I used to go to a more famous shop downtown, and they were fine, but I far prefer the warmth and helpfulness of the staff at this shop. Just a wonderful group of ladies.

Wonderful choices in yarn types along with quantity for a project. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

We live close by, yet I typically travel to other shops as this place used to feel a bit unfriendly and «burned out». Stopped in today to buy some needles and was pleasantly surprised. Very friendly and helpful staff, both in person and on the phone. Beautiful yarns, beautiful buttons. Display of a nicely knit up summer project from a FREE download. I was very impressed, and will happily make this my new favorite LYS. And I can walk there!

Small but cozy atmosphere with a great yarn selection. Good customer service. They also have great classes… One of my favorite shops.

The best yarn shop in Portland; while smaller than some of the other shops, it still somehow manages to carry everything a natural-​fiber enthusiast could hope for (and then some!). The owner is warm and kind and she and everyone who works there foster an amazing community. One of my favorite places.

Hey– I used to radically dislike this place, but now, after another experience, I’ve found NW Wools to be very helpful, to have a good selection and decent prices. So I’m changing my tune!

So disappointing. I really wanted to like this store and support it. But I don’t and I can’t. A level of customer service that’s simply unacceptable. It’s not nice to shop somewhere where the sales people are consistently rude. Every interaction I’ve had has made me feel like I wasn’t part of some ‘in crowd’. Being rushed and made to feel like they don’t want my business is really unpleasant. So I will take my business elsewhere.

This is my neighborhood yarn shop, but their limited store hours make it really difficult to shop here. I wish that they were open on Sundays, or had one night per week with later hours. Since I have a job, the only time I can make it to their shop is on Saturday, and they close early on that day. Since their website is broken (Google alerts me that there is malware or something) I can’t figure out which brands of yarn they carry before I visit. I’d love to support the LYS that is walking distance from my house, but since it is always closed when I want to go, I end up driving across town.

Mary had a little lamb when she was a kid.
Things progress in her life and she went to college. As the story goes, the lamb is sure to follow her.
She ran low with her cheddar. Can’t and won’t strip as that’s against her morals. Oh ofcourse, her lamb! No, avid readers, she did not let the lamb dance for her! Mary sheared her for fine wools.
Now, I wonder if Mary’s lamb’s wools went here. Cause this store sure stock some good wool! As most of my stores discontinue their wool yarns, this is a heaven for it. This heaven sorts it by colors which is easy for the eye. And they almost have every hue in stock.
They have a lovely staff that can assist you with questions (Yes, even as basic as how to knit) and suggestions.
I have to get out before I get tangled.

I spent too much money here (of course) but all the colors and textures seduced me. The prices seemed pretty reasonable for the high quality, unique yarns. I’m still a novice knitter so I’m mostly still on small projects that don’t take much yarn and (luckily) don’t cost much.
I actually went in looking for needles, but was too distracted by yarn. Plus, the needles hang behind the «register» table and I wasn’t sure if I was allowed to go back and look at them.

This is my neighborhood LYS. When I’m making everyday projects for the holidays. They are wonderful giving help and the prices are very reasonable. One thing I’ve noticed is that if you’re having a problem that you can’t seem to get out of, they are the ones to go to. Very patient and will take the time to answer questions. There always seems to be a class going on, which is great. If you’re into spinning, they’ve got lots of supplies and raw wool. Walking through the store always seems to lower my blood pressure and restore a sense of calm.

well, i’m a bit bias because i learned to knit here! i took a class with Lynn and it was wonderful. The people were very nice, the selection on yarn is fantastic, and it is way cheaper and closer to home than other stores.
the people who work here are very nice and more than willing to help when you have questions and i just love hanging out in multnomah village.
i am hooked on my local yarn store!

On my first visit I was quite the novice when it came to things like yarn and I still wasn’t sure what is could possibly mean to «purl» but the staff were able to help me learn the lingo, make informed decisions about what I would really neat to create what I had envisioned in my head and they give me lots of useful tips.
They have a great selection of yarn and I just love the location in Multnomah village… its a great place to walk around, get some coffee and enjoy the local scene.

This cute little store has a pretty good selection of yarns and the staff is really friendly. I highly recommend spending a sunny weekend afternoon in Multnomah Village. A bus comes right through here, so leave your car at home. Plenty of good antique stores, book stores, and restaurants. You will love the old sea-​side village feeling of this once independent town.
