Papyrus is a great store anywhere you go, but Malena at the Portland store is the epitome of customer service! I’ live down in LA and am getting married in February in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. I had found some gorgeous invitations at Papyrus in Manhattan Beach, but wanted my mom and sis to check them out before pulling the trigger. I called the Portland store and set an appointment for them to see the invitations. Needless to say, they LOVED them and decided to proceed with the ordering process. Malena and her staff were super helpful in guiding them through the process and even figuring out how to best stretch our budget. When Checkerboard took a little long to get the revised proof, Malena made sure to expedite them the next day. I can’t wait to see my final invitations and get this major step in the wedding planning crossed off the list! Thanks Papyrus!

Premium prices for mediocre cards made in China :-(

If you’re in a rush for a nice gift or card and don’t mind spending a little, this is a good place to stop by if you already happen to be at Washington Square. It’s a super tiny shop and everything is way overpriced… Yet, they have some of the cutest cards that are far prettier and more imaginative than anything I’ve seen at Hallmark. They caught my eye because there was a red and black canvas with white roses, the Eiffel Tower and«Je t’adore.» Even though $ 24 for a 10“x10″ is expensive, this francophile couldn’t resist.

This place is exactly like every other Papyrus store in the universe(overpriced paper in pretty boxes), except the staff are terribly rude and unhelpful.

I strolled over to this store yesterday after purcashing a wedding gift. Pretty small but that kept it easy to find what I was looking for. The staff was a bit green it seemed, like a couple high school girls who really didn’t care to be working there but they got me what I needed. I’d recommend heading here if you’re in a time crunch or have something easy to prepare for, like you’re a guest at a wedding and need some nice wrap, or you need some nicer cards for an occasion. I think the one at Bridgegport Village is a bit larger, more sophisticated staff and I think some different merchandise.
