I am a practicing attorney in Portland and this library is a great place to get materials that we don’t carry in our own library. I often use their attorney services program, which means I can request things directly from the library, either to be mailed to my office, or scanned and emailed if it’s short. I’ve come here a few times when I need to spend quality time with a large treatise. It’s far more comfortable than the Multnomah County Law Library, although parking is a real pain. Fortunately I live close by, in fact within walking distance. So that’s not really an issue for me.

I heard tales of the beautiful setting of Lewis and Clark Law school. This mecca of Environmental Law and all things just and natural was apparently more than just Monica Lewinsky’s alma matter… it was the source of untold beauty. Law + Lewinsky + Beauty? I was intrigued. But upon first setting my eyes on what looked like a minimalist concrete nuclear bunker from the height of Cold War, my hopes were temporarily crushed. I was beginning to wonder what was in those Nalgenes that every student was carrying around, and wishing that I should have stopped at Monica. But I am forever grateful that I didn’t. The Boley Law Library is 45,139 square feet of distinguished beauty. Floor to ceiling windows overlook a thick forested backdrop, long, clean, well light desks are spaced throughout, and the smell of «smart» is in the air. This is the PERFECT place to get some much needed concentrating done… and good thing for us, it’s open to the public until 7pm! …Don’t be surprised if you hear of me hanging around there quite often… especially if there are any Alumni Functions that I can crash!
