As soon as we decided that it was time to set some roots and buy our first home in town (instead of renting for another 10 years!), a friend referred us to Jessica Brunt at PDX Green Team. Jessica walked us through a very confusing and at times overwhelming process. all the while listening to our preferences and giving us straightforward feedback when we needed to make tough decisions. She really fought hard for us and our home that we ultimately purchased, all within 2 months of beginning the process! What a whirlwind and we feel extremely grateful, thankful, and loved by this team.

We worked with Jessica Brunt to purchase our first home in Portland. She was so much fun to work with and equally as knowledgable. We had a lot to learn being first time home buyers, but she helped us get up to speed quickly.
We made a few offers that didn’t get accepted, but with Jessica’s creative recommendations, we were able to get our 3^rd offer accepted (We weren’t even the highest offer, either!)

When she wasn’t available, Hilary filled in and kept the process moving forward! Highly recommended!

I recently bought my first home ever, and Sarah Moon Lunde and the PDX Green Team made the experience smooth and easy (and fun!). To make my situation even more challenging than the typical home buying experience, I was living in a different state while shopping for homes. Sarah was great at being our eyes on the ground. She took us on multiple tours via Skype and helped us do everything remotely. She was always easy to communicate with, very responsive, and totally knowledgeable. I’d never worked with a real estate agent before, and I was very relieved that I never felt pressured or misled in making decisions. I would recommend the PDX Green Team (especially Sarah!) to anybody, especially if you’re shopping from out of town. A hundred stars!

Looking to buy a home in Portland? Let me enthusiastically recommend Sarah Moon because she’s great. But more on that later. Are you also a first time buyer? For me, go with Sarah. Are you a total novice with an annoying habit of asking stupid questions all the time? Again, Sarah. Are you also coming from out of state? Yup, Sarah. With a limited knowledge of Portland’s neighborhoods? In this instance I’m going to also recommend Sarah Moon. So that’s a specific set of parameters, sure. But the point I’m trying to make is that Sarah helped my wife and I find an amazing home from out of state when we were total novices. I honestly can’t recommend her enough as an agent, or as a person.
Sarah is knowledgeable, patient and trustworthy. A pro without all the dreaded smarminess. Case in point, my wife and I made an offer on our home without having seen it in person. Which sounds insane when I say it out loud, but by that point in our search we knew we could trust Sarah to lead us to a great home even from another state. For example, since we were finding homes online, there were a few that looked great in photographs and that we were pretty excited about. But on more than one occasion, Sarah steered us away from places that were a little rough around the edges or that had faults one could only see in person. Not a big deal if you’re visiting them all yourself, but if you’re like us and relocating from out of state, having this trust is pretty invaluable. So by the time we had our inspection, we knew there would be no surprises. She wasn’t ever in a rush to finish the transaction quickly for a commission. I know she honestly wanted us to have a home we would love (we did), even if it were to take some time to find. I am truly grateful for all of her help.
So if you’re looking to buy a new home in Portland and you would like to work with a knowledgable, professional, down-​to-​earth, responsive, laid back, smart, superhero of an agent to help you through it all, don’t think. Just call the PDX Green Team (also great) and ask for Sarah Moon.

While I wouldn’t exactly recommend trying to buy a house in Portland right now (Are multiple people going to make all-​cash offers for $ 60k more than you are offering, while waiving the inspection? Why yes, yes they are.), the one reason I’m a bit sad the process is over for me is that I don’t get to work with Hilary and Darcie anymore. I would hire them to run my life if I could.
They helped me and my wife recently close on our first house in the NE, after conducting a multi-​month search (involving three separate offers) while living out of state the entire time. And they could not have been better to work with. Here are just some of the things I liked about working with Hilary and Darcie:
* Great communication in general, and lightning-​quick responses to every email, no matter the day of the week or time of day.
* All paperwork was done digitally via Docusign, which made being out of state a lot easier.
* They were not «sales-​y» at all – they didn’t try to talk us into making a purchase. On the contrary: they were great at pointing out not-​so-​obvious flaws in many of the homes we toured, so that we didn’t wind up with a home we might regret. And there was never a single complaint about how long the process was taking. They seemed willing to keep working for us indefinitely until we found a place that was right for us.
* In fact, I don’t think we ever heard the word «no» from them at all. Whatever we requested, they delivered – and always cheerfully and enthusiastically.
* They were able to give us a FaceTime home tour when we couldn’t get up to Portland in time to see a house in person that we were particularly interested in.
* So many nice extra touches along the way, from spot-​on restaurant recommendations, to always picking us up at our hotel and driving us around town for home tours, to great recommendations for other professionals (mortgage, insurance, etc.), to a bottle of champagne waiting in our house for us when we took possession.
They are both knowledgeable, organized, professional, and easy to get along with, and they execute their «team» concept flawlessly – half the time we would go out on home tours with Darcie, the other half with Hilary, but I swear that each time they would even know what we talked about on the previous trip with the other person.
Basically, I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. I know that if for some reason I wind up needing a Realtor anytime soon (and I really hope I don’t), I’m calling them.

My husband and I first contacted Hilary Bourassa in June 2014. We were in San Francisco and considering moving to the Portland, Oregon area. The PDX Green Team had fantastic Unilocal reviews so they were our first choice. We wanted to consider not only Portland, but several of its nearby suburbs. Hilary said she did not do business outside Portland itself.
Hilary referred us to another agent, who I’ll call L. L was a very nice person, but in our view too inexperienced. She sent us some online listings that had little relation to the list of requirements we’d given her. She asked for feedback on the listings, and we provided it till she asked us to quit sending it.
Soon it was fall and we discovered there were hardly any new listings, at least not in our price range and preferred geographic areas. By the time spring listings started to appear, we were more enthused about the idea of living in Portland itself. We contacted Darcie Alexander. She responded immediately, and after some discussion she put us on her automated new listings search and told us to contact her if any house interested us.
Soon one did. We emailed Darcie, and got an automated response saying she was away for a few days and to contact Hilary in any emergency. We didn’t feel having an agent view the house was an emergency, so we decided to wait till Darcie got back. However, Hilary responded anyway, and was ready and willing to step in for her partner. She remembered that she had referred us to L months previously, and seemed very concerned that we might still be working with L. We assured Hilary that we were not. Hilary said that she had met us around New Year’s with L when we were in the area to view a property. We told Hilary that she must be thinking of someone else. We pointed out that we’d never met Hilary, Darcie, or L, L never viewed any houses for us (that relationship never even developed), and we were not in Portland at any time during the winter.
Hilary did a detailed video of the house we liked, took lots of measurements, carefully photographed problem areas, and made sure to answer all our questions. Unfortunately her viewing showed that that house was not for us. We told Hilary she’d done a wonderful job and we’d love to continue working with her and Darcie. Up to this point, neither Darcie nor Hilary had mentioned that they’d want us to sign any agreement. Yet, as soon as Darcie returned she sent us an exclusive buyer’s contract with a cover letter saying that now we’d had a sample of their work we’d be required to sign the contract to continue using their services.
Our jaws dropped, not only because a contract had suddenly been sprung on us, but because of the terms. The PDX Green Team required a 2.75% commission of the sale price. If the seller hadn’t agreed to pay at least 5.5% (and the commission is customarily split 50 – 50 between the seller’s and buyer’s agents but that is not cast in stone), we’d have to pay the rest directly to the PDX Green Team. Such a payment on our part seemed likely. We were pretty sure most sellers would not agree to a higher commission than 5%. And what if the seller’s agent didn’t want to split 50 – 50 with the buyer’s agent? No problem for our agent, they’d just get the difference off us.
The contract said if we bought another property «in the general vicinity of Portland» (presumably directly from the owner or using another agent), the PDX Green Team would still get the buyer’s agent commission. What’s the «general vicinity of Portland»? The PDX Green Team was refusing to view properties in the suburbs, even in a very tight buyer’s market, but they’d want a commission if we bought one through another channel? The contract also required us to pay an advance nonrefundable retainer (amount unspecified).
Worst of all, the contract bound us to use Hilary and Darcie as our exclusive buyer’s agents for a year. So if the market required us to give up on the city of Portland, we’d have to wait out the rest of the year before we could look in the suburbs?
Luckily, the vast majority of agents don’t require buyers to sign any contract, let alone such an unfavorable one. We soon found an even better team that did a fantastic job for us. They were willing to look for us in Portland and all the suburbs, without ever asking us to sign a contract. They took equally good photos, videos, and measurements, they listened to our needs, and they were tireless in getting sellers’ agents to answer all our questions.

We relocated from CA and purchased our home before we moved up north. I found PDX Green Team here on Unilocal and was connected with Jessica. She was amazingly upbeat and easy going from the very first email I sent her letting her know that we will be buying from out of state. When she told us that the real estate market in Portland is really hot and going very fast, we thought, «yeah, yeah, we know fast. We’re from San Francisco…“But we had NO IDEA; a house would list and then go pending within 2 days. After two real estate visits to Portland, 30+ houses, and 3 offers, we finally closed on «the one».
Jessica has been amazing: honest, professional, fun, patient, and flexible. She knows her stuff and was able to guide us through remotely buying in Oregon. Having only spent about 3 days with us, Jess knew exactly we were looking for and what would work for our family. We have so much faith in Jessica that we put an offer on a house without physically seeing it. She FaceTimed a tour and intuitively knew this was the right fit for us. She gladly set up inspection appointments for us and was even there to let in the carpet cleaner I scheduled before we moved.
I have family moving up to the area as well and have gladly referred her to them. Unfortunately they are purchasing in Washington so Jessica was happy to refer them to agents who can help them there. I definitely recommend PDX Green Team as everyone I’ve communicated with there has been incredible. I also love that upon closing on the transaction, the agents have committed to donating a percentage of their commission to a local community non-​profit.

My partner and I recently bought a house with Jess’s help, and she was great to work with. We were first time buyers and pretty clueless about everything. Jess expertly shepherded us through the process, without ever making us feel bad for being inexperienced. We bought at a pretty frustrating time, market-​wise, and Jess made sure we never got discouraged. She worked around the clock for us and protected our interests when time was ticking.
It’s also worth noting that my partner and I are both women. In entering into a professional relationship with a new person, there is always a bit of a worry that he or she will be rude and/​or homophobic. This was unequivocally NOT the case with Jess — she was totally affirming of us.
I highly recommend Jess and PDX Green Team, and would encourage any and all to work with them.

I’m still in love with PDX Green Team. I never thought I’d liken a realtor-​homebuyer relationship to marriage but a good relationship can be like that. There’s no «love ‘em and leave ‘em”-type mentality here. Since closing, we’ve received various thoughtful and helpful communications from them and they’re still as professional, responsive, and on-​the-​ball as ever. They were also happy to help us ballpark the value of our home in our pursuit of a refinance even though they’re probably up to their ears in client work. As a client, you can tell that they deeply care about the relationships that they forge as part of their work and, because of that, appreciation for clients does not end once the papers are signed and fees are paid. They really are building roots through relationships.
Before I start waxing poetic, I just wanted to say thanks again… you guys are STILL super duper awesome!

Jess is amazing! Not only were we first time homebuyers, but we were relocating from out of state and searching remotely– a potentially stressful situation. But Jess’s expert guidance made it quick, easy, and fun! She really listened to what we wanted, and understood exactly what we were looking for. We completely trusted her opinion, and she was never pushy, honestly telling us if she thought a house was right for us or not. We ended up with an amazing house at a great price in the exact area of town we wanted.

Considering the state of the market and some of the horror stories we’d heard from friends, we were prepared for the worst. However, Jess walked us through the process expertly and made sure we were armed with the knowledge and tools to find the right property. While this was a big comfort to us, we never ended up needing to contact anyone but Jess. She responded to our emails and texts promptly and always made time to meet with us and show us a property right away. And after a few days’ worth of showings, Jess really got a keen sense of what we liked and didn’t like. She made sure that we understood the potential drawbacks of each property we viewed, and didn’t let us waste our time on houses she knew would require more work than we were willing to put in.
Once we found the house we were looking for, Jess was great about guiding us through next steps. The PDX Green Team has a comprehensive process for putting in a well-​rounded and competitive offer, which helped us feel enlightened and prepared, and Jess weighed in with her expertise throughout. After our offer was accepted, she helped us stay on top of our priorities and had tons of fantastic recommendations for our home inspecting, insuring, and improvement needs. She kept us organized and aware from start to finish, her patience and responsiveness never waning, even in the face of our nervous fretting.
In the end, we got exactly what we were looking for a lot more quickly and efficiently than we ever could have hoped when starting out. While Jess was incredibly professional, we appreciated that she treated us more like friends than clients, which made it easy for us to trust her and feel like she was really looking out for our best interests.
