Pearl Tattoo Studio

Tony Rocks, the best work I’ve had by far! Tony designed and did a wonderful cover up at at the greatest price ever!

To preface, I have 6 tattoos, all by different artists, only 2 at the same studio. Solid place for a tattoo. Clean, reasonable pricing, professional. Not too friendly, and I like folks who perform personal services for me (i.e. doctor, or hairstylist) to be chatty and want to talk. Especially with tattooing, because it’s just a lot of (in this case) laying around doing nothing.
In this case, I got a logo of a favorite band of mine that is a symbol, and is solid back. Brought the exact one I wanted in on my smart phone and they replicated it just fine.
The tattoo I got healed nicely, I love it to this day. I would probably not come back, just because as I said, I need someone to chat with me throughout the process, but if someone asked me if I thought they did good work, and were interested in coming here, I wouldn’t deter them.

What does one do after drinking the most fabulous beer ever while on one of her «great escapes» from the monotony of the not-​so-​awesome state where she currently resides? Walk a-​ways down from the brew pub and get a tattoo! Pearl Tattoo Studio is another one of those I’m-not-in-Alabama haunts. I still have my wrist tat; it’s become part of my skin rather nicely, so dainty it looks like a water color. Doug was very thoughtful drawing up my tat, even changed it a couple times as I’m really picky. I’d definitely get tatted at Pearl Tattoo again!

Was just cleaning out the business cards in my wallet and came across the one from here (from back in the day when it was called Pearl District Tattoo) and realized I had completely forgotten to review it! I had my piece done here by Doug in the Spring of 2010. I had a pathetically vague concept of what I wanted, but Doug was extremely patient with me as we worked it out together. He never expressed any annoyance or impatience, nor was he ever condescending. He even went online and did some Google image searches to make sure he got it right. This tattoo has a great deal of emotional significance for me, and I really was stunned by the final result. It turned out perfectly, better than anything I could have imagined. Doug had such a light hand, worked very quickly, and was very easy to talk to while he worked. The piece is black and gray (with bits of white accents), and the shading and detail is unbelievable. The price was amazing as well. Since getting this piece, I’ve received countless compliments, and always refer people to Doug. I am so happy with my piece and amazed by Doug’s incredible talent as an artist. I highly recommend this studio.

I went here a couple times before actually getting a tattoo… nice guys, friendly, informative — never made me feel stupid for my questions and were a great help putting my ideas into reality. Doug did my tat today and I am 100% pleased with the results :) Thanks for the great work!

I have lost track of the hours I have spent in the studio both planning and being tattooed but considering the ink alone is over 50 hours I am sure I am in the 60 — 70 hour range. I have two large pieces and one small piece all of which are extremely symbolic and very much original. I have worked with Tony from the beginning on the two large pieces and had him fix/​expand the small piece and have been extremely impressed all the way through.
Tony has taken been able to take the jumbled up mass of symbols that I wanted worked into each piece and make something truly amazing out of them. Moreover, he has been more than willing to collaborate and adjust at each step so that the end results are pieces that not only look amazing but that I am able to look at with a sense of pride and ownership that I find to be rare among tattoos.
Both Doug and Tony are fun and funny guys who run a very clean and professional looking shop. I always enjoy my hours under the needle.
Also, my tattoos have all healed quickly and well while needing minimal touch up work, which is a testament to Tony’s control with the needle.
I am consistently stopped and complimented on my ink, not just for the size or imagery but for the quality of the lines and coloring. I un-​hesitantly refer friends and family to the studio. Definitely the place to go if you want any tattoo work done but especially if you want original art from true artists.

I was really surprised to see the negative review from Tom O… I have been going to the shop for nearly 3 years now… Tony and Doug are great… I have had my wife and friends go there for work, and they could not be happier… Their work is top notch, and the shop is super clean. Don’t let one angry idiot with a vendetta, and a bad review steer you away… You will not be disappointed…
