A Mexican restaurant that charges for chips & salsa? Really? Broken margarita machine? Great service. just so so food. Peps… you are not heading in the right direction

The wait persons did not bring us the correct orders we had to ask for silverware the food was mediocre I probably wouldn’t recommend it nor go back

The Food: was better when they first reopened but has since dropped in quality. The quantity is still somewhat there but that’s not everything.
In fact I’ve deleted my photos that I’ve posted over the last few years as the food definitely doesn’t plate as nice as it used to.
The Price: is par for the restaurants in town.
The Atmosphere: tight? I feel a bit claustrophobic in this restaurant. It just feels like there are too many tables.
And it has established itself as one of the main watering holes in Portland so if you are looking for a crowded bar this is your place. I’m an old boring dad and the extremely loud (even by bar standards) karaōke on Friday nights is quite annoying. But that’s just me. …it definitely brings a crowd… so good for them. I’m just making a point that some may find useful.
The Staff: (wait)are polite and knowledgable of their menu. They have been very accommodating. (kitchen) takes quite a while but they are usually pretty busy when we go so it is somewhat understandable. Although if the business is doing well then up the kitchen staff at peek hours?

We had a poor experience. We sat
in the bar area of the restaurant and after we ordered… In came a large group with several small kids. It become a Bar Day Care quickly.

Double decker steak quesadilla was amazing. Cooked just the way I asked. The man who answered the phone to take my order was very nice and made me laugh a couple times. Was a nice but unexpected phone call. Again great quesadillas

Great tex-​mex food! I was hesitant to eat here after seeing the reviews but I’m glad I did. The service was great and the food was superb. I had enchiladas with a crispy taco, chalupa and tostada. Everything was top notch! Even the salsas and chips. It’s one of the better tex-​mex restaurants I’ve been to, and I’ve eaten at A LOT.

I went to Pep’s on a Friday evening. The bar was crowded and so was the dining hall. The DJ was gearing up for karaōke and the crowd was alive. After having a vodka/​cran, the bartender opt to make me a special frozen drink with rum and vodka. I must admit, it was yummy! There were two bartenders and both were attentive although the place soon got packed.
For dinner, I had the chicken special. It was a breast of chicken topped with a creamy spinach sauce, rice, and refried beans. I was starving, but it was truly good eating.
There was an annoying regular at the bar, but once he left, I had an enjoyable evening listening to others belch out there favorite tunes. Everyone from staff to the locals were nice to this visitor.

Service was awful from the moment we walked in. Hostess was rude. Waitress did the best she could. After their remodel the food went down hill. Rice was hard and uncooked. Beans tasted like they came out of a can. This place is nothing more than a hangout for the young owner’s drinking buddies.

Food is amazing. Highly recommend the ribeye, shrimp, salmon or mahi dishes. I just cant stop ordering the salmon… always cooked to perfection.
The service is however hit and miss, depending on your waitress. sometimes you get the salad 1 – 2 minutes prior to your meal, but thats a non-​issue when the food is soooooo good.
Perhaps the best tasting food in portland.

The service is the worst I have had from time entering the door till I left. Rude from the get go, we gave our name and were waiting to be seated, another couple walks in and gives name and is seated before us. The waitress was whipping her nose the whole time and was slow to bring our drinks. Another waitress finally came over and got us our drinks. The food arrived looking like it had been under a heat lamp for a while the food was ok after u peeled the skin off the beans where it had cooked under heat lamp. Total disappointment to say the least. Take the fifteen minute ride to corpus and go to kilkos or laribera

If I could give less than one star I would. Terrible experience. I met a friend for nachos and wine. There was a shift change so I paid the waitress who was leaving. My friend and I each ordered another glass of wine from the new waitress. They brought the bill and charged us again for what I had paid. The owner came to our table, did not ask any questions, just threatened to call the police. He was supremely rude. I will never go back to that place.

The food is amazing! The beef fajitas are out of this world. The service was prompt and friendly. My favorite Mexican food restaurant hands down!

Food is amazing. Been eating at the AP location for years. As well as this one. However, the service sucks. Went there 4 times in one week, different server every time and they all sucked. They stand around by the bar talking and texting.

I have been to Pepito’s twice now and I probably will not go back… The first time was great. The second was a VERY different experience… I ended up with a roach in my mouth! That’s right, you read correctly. I ordered a frozen margarita and to my surprise, when I took my first sip, a dead roach was in my straw. When I told the waitress, she removed the margarita from our bill (thanks), and took it from the table, but not once did the manager come over to apologize for what happened or comp our meal. I have contacted the restaurant twice about it and still haven’t been compensated. With that said, I won’t go back there.

Kind of sports bar/​cantina kind of place. Stopped by on Saturday for a late lunch, food saw pretty tasty (even if you are one of the people who end up warring ½ of the salsa).
Only problem was a bit inattentive service. The beer we orders was brought over half filled — they have to change the kegs, I will bring you the rest in a couple of minutes. Only when he asked if we wanted another beer, & we point out we are still waiting for the first, did he remember
