I am wondering if the reviewer from DC may have seen a different practitioner with the same name? I have only seen Nancy once, but she is nothing like the other reviewer described. I’m not trying to devalidate anyone’s experiences… I’m just noticing that this Nancy is in Portland, not DC/east coast, so I’m wondering if maybe it was a different practitioner that you saw? She seems great to me so far. I will write more when I have seen her more often.

I saw Nancy during my senior year in college because I needed someone to prescribe medication for depression. Since she worked one day a week at my university, I gave her a shot. She was nice enough on my first visit, but the second visit was horrible. First, she told me that I did not have depression, but dysthymia. I did research on the disorder before that appointment, and I knew that was not what I had since one has to have symptoms of depression for at least two years and I only had mine for a month and a half. When I asked her how to pronounce«dysthymia,» she told me I did not need to know what I have. Second, she told me to «stop stewing around and focus on the positive» when I told her that I was still sad even after taking the medication for two weeks. Stop stewing around? Excuse me, but part of your job is to be SENSITIVE to people with mental health issues If you’re going to treat people this way, then maybe being a psychiatric nurse practitioner isn’t for you. Why are you telling me I have mental health issues, but yelling at me for exhibiting symptoms? I left my appointment in tears, which is not how one should feel when seeing a health care provider. My advice to both UP students and others is to stay away from her and find a provider who actually cares about you.
