SFNY is legitimately a New York style joint. Testing it with friends from NY, and my own understanding of NY pizza has confirmed this. In addition, vegan pizza by the slice here is awesome and the best in this area. Sure, Sizzle Pie is great, but if you live in the Nob Hill area, it’s kind of a long walk. Very impressed and appreciative of this pizza… so… so good.

I’m not entirely for sure how to rate Pizza Oasis. They are by far my favorite pizza place in Portland. Hands-down the best cheese pizza you can find which gives them a 5 star rating. However, the last 3 times I’ve tried to order from them, they have been closed. Their phone goes straight to voicemail. I’m not even talking about ordering at random times either. Last night(which was a Tuesday) I tried to call at 6:30pm. I tried calling numerous times thinking it was a mistake, but it wasn’t. Each time it went to voicemail. This same thing has happened 2 additional times. Not sure what is going on with them. Are they closed? Are they out of business? or are they just bad at customer service? I can’t find any information!

All slices of pizza are made to order. Doesn’t get much better than this if you ask me. Fresh pizza and a cold beer goes a long way in my books. Couple with a friendly batch of cooks and servers this place screams for you to try it out. The pizza is decent, good, and tasteful. Is it the best that I’ve had… NO. Is it the worst… far from it. It’s somewhere in the middle for me. I have two complaints about the place. One has to do with the pizza and the other has to do with the restaurant itself. My complaint about the pizza is that it lacks sauce. I’m a guy who likes things saucy, especially my pizza. That’s a major factor in judging the taste of pizza for me. My other complaint is the ventilation of the place. There seems to be none at all. If you don’t mind sweating and smelling like a pizza afterwards please venture right on in and have a seat. They have a variety of options for meat lovers and a good selection for vegetarians and vegans. It fits well into the Portland pizza scene.

How did they describe that terrible pizza on The Office? «Hot circles of garbage»? That’s Pizza Oasis. Portland is a town with generally low standards for pizza, but this place takes the cake. The terrible, awful, cake. Mushy, bready crust, watery tomato sauce, low quality cheese, and heaps and heaps of generic, flavorless toppings. Avoid at all costs.

It was very cold out during my walk. I was hungry. Pizza Oasis was right in front of me. Problem solved! Walk in, get warm, eat! What a comfortable setting, so familiar, such a throwback to college and Portland over the past 40 years. But the pizza is no throwback. I don’t remember a time when pizza in Portland came with so much in the way of toppings. I got a single slice at this visit that was piled with toppings. Each slice is made individually and worth waiting for. My slice was a meal by itself, coming with knife and fork, and I needed nothing more or I would have been too full. The crust was just right. I found service by the gentleman at the counter to be polite, friendly, and low-key, and my pizza slice came out in a acceptable amount of time. Eating my pizza while reading a book felt comfortable and not pressured, the perfect activity for a cold winter’s night. I know I will return.

Not my cup of tea pizza. The pieces ARE huge but the taste is mediocre. If you like a thicker, doughier dough then this is a good place. Personally I like thin crust.

Very good pizza, quick service and a casual environment. Prices aren’t too bad either. We ordered a pizza with garlic on it as well other toppings. The pizza was really good but whoa, those were some big pieces of garlic. Luckily, we love garlic but I think next time we will ask for a little less on the pizza.

This is great pizza, but they are slow. And their waiter service isn’t the greatest. Go with plenty of time or order ahead and take it home to enjoy.

Absolutely love their pizza, their service, and their great prices. The happy hour is pretty unbeatable: -$ 9 giant pitchers of a micro brew,(Lagunitas, Ninkasi, Mirror Pond to name a few) -$ 6 pitcher of PBR –Free extra topping on any pizza($ 2.50 a slice and they’re HUGE). Even if you’re not there for happy hour, the portions are incredibly generous and most slices are around $ 3. I tend to always have one of two servers(Ian or Casey) and they remember me each time and are always incredibly courteous and attentive no matter how busy they are. When they ask you how your day was they actually care what the answer is. They have some great seasonal selections as well as some pretty incredible standards. Even the plain cheese is great, which is how I tend to judge good pizza. Hands down the best place to get pizza this side of the Burnside Bridge.

I wasn’t especially hungry when spilling into this place one night recently, but parking is so scarce in that neighborhood, and besides, when I saw they had Spam on their specialty toppings list, I was very amused. Too amused to pass it up. You have to be vigilant these days, ever on your toes, ready at a moment’s notice to fight for your right– not just to party, either: For your right to unlimited sodium, nitrates, and canned meat jelly. The man and woman working @ the Oasis were friendly, industrious, low key. Most of the young, sleek and painfully hip in their age bracket, in the service industry, act as though they are due some sort of constant re-assurance, and validation of how damn sexy and hip they are. I did not get this familiar, and shopworn sort of «PLEASETHINK I’M COOL!» from these people, or this place. Strangely enough, and partly as a direct result of the above, I DO think this place and those folks are pretty stinkin’ cool. BTW, They were quite generous with the meaty, cheesy, glorious toppings… either they were digging on my tip, or maybe just trying to get rid of the rest of the Spam? Either way, that was one gut-busting slice a ‘pie…

The slices cost about $ 4, but they are a meal in themselves and satisfy me every time. The crust on the slices is seasoned to perfection and the toppings are piled high. The ambiance is perfectly casual and Portlandy and the service is always friendly. Overall, I believe that Pizza Oasis provides tremendous value and is my favorite slice in all of Portland.

Pizza Oasis is one block away from my apartment, which makes it extremely convenient to go grab a slice or whole pizza. But that’s not the biggest reason I go there. The pizza is deelicious, and the service has been terrific. The crust is well done, which is how I like my pizza. The single slices are quite generous– I usually order two at most places, but I am satisfied with one here. I just found out they offer vegan sausage for their toppings, and it’s homemade! Cannot wait to go back and try it. I was going to only give 4 stars because it’s lacking in ambiance. But then I decided that I wouldn’t take a date there, it’s a pizza joint. The service is great, and I get my comfort food quickly.

I’m a bit of a pizza snob, so it takes more than a decent crust and hipster staff to please me. I do think the food is alright, but the slices are ridiculously huge and when I ordered garlic as a topping I didn’t realize they’d litter my slice with literal whole cloves of garlic. Eew. When we stopped in, they were also severely understaffed. It was just one waitress to take care of everyone and as such, every step of our order took a very very long time. I think if I were local, I might try to hunt down a better pizza hangout.

What is there to stay that hasn’t already been said? Not much. I guess I’ll just go ahead and add to the fabulous reviews of Pizza Oasis. I’ve had the pleasure of eating in on many occasions. Dinner mostly, sometimes early, sometimes late, sometimes after workouts. Don’t judge me! A nice slice of pizza that has plenty of gooey cheese, pepperoni, green pepper slices, and peppercinis is a great after workout snack! This isn’t on their menu, it’s their create your own option. Toppings are cheap, fresh, and plentiful! I love the fact that I can order a slice and know that I’ll get more then two slices of pepperoni and only a couple of vegetable chunks. Oh, the crust! Mmm, the crust. That is my favorite part. It’s cooked perfectly every time! Even if it’s a take out pizza and has been sitting in the box. Sadly, I cannot comment on how it is cold because I never have any leftovers. Like I said, don’t judge!

Ordered pizza from here just recently and had it delivered within blocks of their business. We got the Daily Ken and Pollo Blanco. Definitely preferred the chicken and white sauce of the Pollo Blanco. The marinara sauce on the Daily Ken wasn’t really all that impressive. The Chorizo sausage was just the right amount of spiciness without being overwhelming. Delivery took a solid 45 minutes on a Thursday night around 6pm which is a little long in my opinion but not horrible. Pricing is on par with Hot Lips and since their website claims they make pretty much everything from scratch, I’d say it’s deserving of the cost. Will probably try again some time.

While it’s now a board game, I remember times when we’d just sit around late at night asking«Would you rather?» questions. Like people they seem to come in all sorts of different varieties. Some are innocuous. «Would you rather be telekinetic or telepathic?» Some are not. «Would you rather make out with your sister or with her french bulldog?» Some can be thought provoking. «Would you rather lose your sense of touch or sense of taste?» Some completely ridiculous. «Would you rather be hunted by a gang of shotgun wielding Harley riding Chinese grandmas or ten sweaty fat guys with superhuman speed?» Some relate to our Unilocal lives. «Would you rather Unilocal your favorite secret spot and risk it becoming popular or horde it and hope it doesn’t go out of business? Some relate to our real one. «Would you rather live in Honolulu or Portland? Some make you think there must be other options. «Would you rather wait two hours for good expensive pizza or fifteen minutes for affordable crap?» Thanks to Michelle H. and Andrew C. I found out that better PDX pizza options do exist. Here there’s no need to wait for great reasonably priced slices of cheesy goodness. Once you find parking(always an adventure in Northwest Portland) it’s just a matter of going in and sitting down(don’t be a nOOb and head for the counter!!!). «Would you rather eat a slice of Mr Toad’s Wild Ride or Delta Bleu?» Chill vibe, cheap beer, cool counter peeps, and a totally graffitied guys room were all quite endearing. Here pizza is served by the slice or by the pie. I narrowed down the menu to Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride(Fresh mushrooms, roma tomatoes, artichoke hearts, onion, and fresh garlic) and Delta Bleu(Grilled chicken breast, fresh garlic, tomatoes, and bleu cheese). While single $ 3.95 slices here are large enough to make satisfying affordable meals, I ignored my current economic status and opted for both(though were i to pick just one, definitely the Delta). «Would you rather have good pizza anytime or great pizza on rare occasions?» So after a ten minute wait(whille the slices are made fresh), they brought out what is now my second favorite Portland pizza. In many ways it’s just right. Crunch, but no broken molars. Thin, but not anorexic. Chewy, but no risk of densure loss. Generously topped, but not Dolly Parton. While not quite the pardigm shift that Ken’s is, it’s a slice I’d be down with eating anyday anytime. Three stars for a seriously solid slice, and a fourth for reasonably priced no wait accessability. «Would I rather come here than any other PDX pie place?» In most cases… hell yeah!

I really only have one hard and fast rule for pizza success: Be better than Domino’s. After that are guidelines. One of them is stand up. I want a crust to be strong enough to support itself as I’m lifting it for a bite. Holding the very end may be acceptable for the first few bites, but I’m not down with the NYC theory of rolling a pizza into a joint to eat it. Maybe it was the grease, I did get the double pepperoni, but my slice was flopping like a soccer player in a mosh pit. Neither Hoot’s nor Josh’s appeared to be doing the same thing. The pepperoni was really good. Maybe it just disappeared into the aftermath of the two Hot Lips slices I’d had before UYE Sunday HH, but I didn’t get heartburn from their stuff. And there was a LOT of pepperoni on that bad boy. And they have table service. And cheap PBR. I’ll forgive the flop. That’s what guidelines are for.
