Portland’s Indoor/Outdoor Flea Market

This is as good as you’ll be able to find in Portland — it doesn’t compare to socal flea markets, but you can find deals on all sorts of things. I got some old board games with all the pieces and a simpsons season 3 DVD in «mint condition,» as the seller told us. And it was cheaper than buying it on amazon and we got to take goodies home. This is a good place to just have a fun look around. If you don’t want to pay the dollar to get in, you’ll still find cool stuff outside!

This is a fun way to kill some time on a Sunday. It’s not the best flea market I’ve ever been to but there is so little to choose from in the Portland area. When first I moved here, I would drive out to Gresham to the few I could find, but they were mostly bootleg DVDs, new sox and mangos with chili powder (which ends up is really good, and how they get so much mango meat out of the damn fruit is no less than a miracle).
So the Lombard Flea Market at the Eagles Club has a little of everything (inc mango, but no bootleg dvds). During warm weather, the large outside lot is filled with vendors selling furniture, chatchkes, tools, plants, boxed food, dishes, newer stuff, antiques & collectables and of course my favorite — jewelry. Crappy jewelry and some nice vintage stuff. Don’t pay too much as prices differ greatly from vendor to vendor. And for gosh sake’s — bargain — it’s a flea market.
It costs $ 1 to get in, but they almost never collect it from me. The market is sundays from 9 – 2:30 year round. Lots less fun and less stuff during the winter months when the vendors are inside only — but still worth a look.
My favorite vendor is my procuce guy — darn, I can’t remember his name. He’s super nice and works outside the building — you don’t need to pay $ 1 to buy from him, Sometimes I just come for the produce and manage to keep from addng to my growing collection of stuff. He has everything! yesterday I bought portabello mushshrooms, corn, lemons, rasberries, peppers, scallions and a peach for $ 6! WHAT?!? I shit you not!
