Ramada Portland East

Start with the good… the staff was great– friendly & helpful. the hotel was clean.
There’s not a bad side really but the property was really date and badly in need of repair/​updating. For the money I expect a lot more. There was only 1 thin blanket on the bed and the heater was loud and smelled like burning dust when I turned it on. It kept the rain off, for $ 100 I expect a lot more, that’s all I can say.

A letdown in every way.
The main reason we booked this hotel was because DVD player was on the amenities list, and we planned to have a movie night.
Once we got there with our movies and noticed there was no DVD player, we called the front desk and asked about it. The woman who answered our call said they never had dvd players in any room. She wasn’t apologetic or kind, and offered no solution. She said she had to get off the phone because she was busy, and that she would call back, but she never did.
The room was gross. (I will post photos) it smelled really weird and was humid. The carpets had huge stains and were molding.
The toilet seat had many large gashes. The walls had holes in them. Instead of repairing or filling the holes, this Ramada opted to stuff them with toilet paper!
The bedding was really minimal, and the comforter had spanish words written on it with permanent marker.
This room cost close to $ 100 on a Tuesday. A hotel charging that much money on a weeknight owes it’s customers a better experience.

All the basics, check in staff was friendly/​helpful, room was clean. The area is bad, down the street from a strip club with shady characters and gang members (recognizable by their clothing colors) who walk to and from the area. The only issue I had was on my second day of my reservation I was laying in bed when the door opened… Turns out they gave another guest a key to my room! Awkward and the clerk at the desk seemed confused and unapologetic to the mistake, even had to get my keys reactivated after their HUGE error. Breakfast was great.

I stayed one night at this hotel with my husband and 1 year old son. The first night we found the room to be very muggy and hot, finding the AC didn’t work they transfered us to a different room. The next morning when showering I noticed black mold on the shower sealant and around the tiles with some cracked grout. If I pressed on it I could feel the tile move, ie the baseboard was rotten. When my husband notified the front desk about the issue the response was «all of the rooms have black mild, I could try to find you a room that has LESS mold or I can give you your money back for you to find a different hotel to stay at.» Needless to say we packed up our things and left, and them promptly called the health inspector for multinomah county. It’s unacceptable to allow people to stay in rooms that can be a health hazard, especially for my toddler! The fact that they knew it was an issue and we’re allowing exposure makes me even more furious.

Our experience is with front desk Kailyn and manager, Lynn Middleton.
We pre purchased a one night stay via travelocity 3days prior to checking in. We arrived late night after a long drive from Los Angeles only to be told that the rooms were over booked. My husband wasn’t having it after a long day driving. Kailyn began to say how travelocity and their computer were not «talking» and that she couldn’t help us. My husband then requested to speak with her manager. while in the back it seemed like the manager Lynn and kailyn were arguing. We contacted travelocity and they confirmed the booking and purchase. Lynn mysteriously found a vacant room. The customer service needless to say was horrible and both women were extremely rude.
The room was ok. The location was less than stellar. Prostitutes and drug dealers were highly visible. Do your self a favor don’t book here. Oh and I forgot to mention that you could literally here the person above our room walking around the whole entire night.

Its really a shitty place and out dated. The front lobby and surrounding areas look new but when you get to your room its the complete opposite. The neighborhood looks pretty run down too.

It has the basics so if you need to sleep and are on a budget this is the place to be. The hot tub was lovely but the ac in the room was not. Every time it turned on, a new foil scent permeated the room from BO, poop and God knows what else. Since it was hot during our stay, the ac stayed on but the smell left a lot to be desired.

Prefect hotel for overnight stay. no, it is not a resort… it is s hotel. We checked in after a late night flight.72 including tax. king bed was super comfy! Water was hot, towels super sized, toiletries provided and a hot breakfast! What more could you want! Again it is a hotel. do not expect a resort!

Man for 70 I still expect a room thats decent. Didnt know we got put into a disabled room. Got in at midnight and was tired. Kept trying to find a light switch, didnt realize they would be down by my knees.
The bathroom had mildew all over the tub. Probably because its not been used in a while. The sink is located next to the bed… yeah next to the bed… it was clean but the light above it didnt work.
Everyone’s comments about the staff being rude are spot on. I never seen a «reception» staff make you feel so unwelcome.
Well off to try the breakfast thats included. If you dont here from me again at least you know why.

This hotel has the worst staff, and has the worst customer service I have ever encountered in my entire life.
My friend and I booked a stay a week in advance because we were going to a concert, and didn’t want to drive home at 4 in the morning (because that’s really unsafe in an unknown area).
So we booked a room for 1 night to make sure we got sleep and a safe ride home in the morning.
We went to check in at 4 pm before we went to go stand in line for the concert, it look 30 minutes for the front desk person «Kayla» to even see us. This person by the way is the worst employee, the worst customer service, and the most disgustingly rude attitude I’ve ever dealt with and I sincerely hope she’s fired or put behind a computer.
Customer service is easy. BE NICE TO THE CUSTOMER.
She accused us of not paying (my friend’s parent payed online when she made the reservations so we could just check in super easily and go wait for the concert)
We ended up finding out that we had to pay there so we tried to figure out a way our parent could pay over the phone because niether of us had money and this person «Kayla» made it so incredibly hard to pay for the hotel that we decided to risk it and drive home so we didnt have to deal with «Kayla“‘s absolulty unnecissary rudness. Kayla then decideds to go on a power trip and tell us we still have to pay for the room because we are an hour past the time to cancell with no fees. Were pretty tired of Kayla at this point and asked for her manager,
The manager (who was so helpful and nice unlike her disgustingly horrid employee) said she would wave any under 24 hour fees there might be and hoped we made it safely home.
Kayla then butts in and started yelling at her manager «WE ARE NOT LETTING THEM NOT PAY ITS AN HOUR PAST THE 24 HOUR CANCELLATION PERIOD AND THEY HAVE TO PAY»
She literally started arguing with her manager about the customer service she was giving to us. We would have stayed if it weren’t for the total blatant rudeness from the staff, we made it home safely but ended up in a ditch because my friend fell asleep behind the wheel. Thank you so much, I will literally never ever stay at your hotel. Even if its the last place left after the zombie apocalse. I really hope you give your money to a hotel who cares enough to hire staff that are helpful, corgil, and nice. Because this is not that company. I hope that Kayla is punished for how rude she was. You lost a lot of buisness from us and any band we know or talk to when traveling. Horrible horrible horrible.

Wow seriously folks… What a shithole. Called days in advance to confirm, but somehow room wasn’t ready at scheduled check in time.
Stayed in the suite, shocked to say the least. This whole property is completely outdated including the bondo fix on the plastic tub?! Just wow…
Made coffee In the morning after a restless night of sleep due to strange noises coming from the front desk area located beneath this room, only to find roaches… ROACHES PEOPLE!!! I told them about the roaches and their first and only response was «did you get em?!» Uhhhh nooo, I don’t do pest control sorry!
I would’ve been much happier at a half the price motel 6 (no offense)!
The new Ramada inn… Where we charge 4 star prices for 1 star quality!

After another couple stays here I have to say I’m not so impressed. I had an issue of paying for a room with cash and my card was charged anyway. It took several conversations with a rude front desk «manager» and a couple weeks before the problem was resolved. Between that situation and my most recent stay (the last two nights) I realized that the girls working at the front desk are just plain dumb. Math seemed to be impossible for them when I found mistakes on my bill and one girl had to ask me at least 5 times in a span of 5 minutes what room I was staying in. I will not be staying here again

The pros and cons of this place, the pros IMO the price we got through
was real good, we paid under $ 70 for the night we stayed here (Sat.December 27^th, 2014), The hotel front desk IMO was very helpful and courteous– and looking at the breakfast area, looked like they had a good morning breakfast offering, although we didnt had any as we had other plans.
And overall, I felt the place was very clean from the lobby to the room itself,
This hotel also does have a nice Jacuzzi and a small weight room, I do believe it also has a pool.
The cons, the parking in the front is VERY wonky, hard to get in and out of it as it was tight, and our room was probably one of the smallest ones we’ve stayed in– not much room there!
They do have more parking in the back of the hotel,
The toilet lid IMO needed a VERY strong shot of WD40, it made a very loud creaking noise as you raised it and lowered it lol
While we where checking in, the front desk clerk lady had to call 911 as there was a VERY loud guy outside yelling at some woman So overall, I doubt we’ll be back at this hotel–

I’ve been staying at this location a number of times since it was a Holiday Inn Express. Not a lot of choices in the area Montavilla/​Hazelwood area of Portland (it is close to where my daughter and grandson live).
I’ve tried other, lower priced, inns in the area but have been consistently disappointed with them. Decided it is worth the extra couple of bucks (well, 15 — 20 dollars more per night) to stay in a place that didn’t have a bunch of police cars in the parking lot in the morning. Usually stay 3 – 4 nights when we come up to Portland. Occasionally will babysit my grandson when we stay here — he loves the spa and exercise room, and the cable TV (Cartoon Network!).
You can generally tell when a hotel will be a decent stay when you see airline flight crews staying in it. Professional travelers will avoid stays in sub-​standard locations. I’ve seen a number of flight crews from major airlines staying here, never heard any of them complain.

Stayed here while wrapping up my stay in the Pacific Northwest. Flew into Portland then drove to Seattle & the central Washington wine country. Stayed here because we were flying home from Portland & the previous motel we stayed at downtown was booked on this particular day. The staff was nice & the room itself was good & did the job for the night we stayed. The location, however, wasn’t really that great. My wife & I decided to hit up downtown Portland one last time before we left & it seemed quite a stretch compared to where we stayed previously. Another tip: do not stay on the ground level. Our room was close to the dining area & apparently everyone who stays here takes advantage of the breakfast deal! The dining area was packed & we could definitely hear it in our room. No alarm clock necessary! All in all, I would recommend this hotel if you’re on a stopover not looking to take in the city. Otherwise, find something closer to where the action is!

I booked this hotel 4 months before my trip through expedia and on the day before the booked, fully paid lodging date, expedia called me (I was on my way from CA to OR) and informed me that Ramada overbooked the rooms since it was close to ⁷⁄₄ so they decided to just cancel my paid rooms. I had to stop my sightseeing activities and stopped at a parking lot for an hour asking expedia to help me finding another hotel. The search was difficult since it was close to ⁷⁄₄. I was traveling with kids and seniors and the trip could easily be ruined with no lodging during the 2-​day stay in Portland. I asked expedia if they could talk to Ramada for my situation (kids and seniors) but expedia replied that Ramada would not change their decision. At last, expedia found me another motel, not great but at least we don’t need to sleep in the car.
I don’t know how Ramada trains their hotel managers but Ramada just successfully lost several potential customers.
Ramada senior management should seriously investigate and evaluate this type of practices.

Every outlet was so flimsy that plugs kept falling out. Had to pull furniture out to get the TV and some of the lights working.
Bottom line, this place delivers completely on all the basics for a solid price. No complaints. There are a lot of little things that could be way better, but none of them make you unsafe, unsettled, or uncomfortable. They cover the whole checklist. Given how great a price you can get if you poke around online for deals, it’s hard to complain. If you’re driving (as opposed to cabbing) everywhere, then the free parking and low room rates here make this a no-​brainer.

First time staying at the location and the first thing I noticed upon arrival was how ghetto the neighborhood was. The rooms were clean when we arrived. There’s free wifi, a small jacuzzi, an exercise room, free continental breakfast, and quick and easy access to multiple freeways.
We booked two rooms, and only complaint I had was the fact that they only cleaned one of the two rooms and accused us of putting a «Do Not Disturb» sign on the door when it was inside the room! We also requested clean towels for the uncleaned room, but it took the staff 30 minutes just to bring them to us. He stated that he was unable to leave the desk since there’s no other staff on hand to help him out.
Other than that, I would say that my stay there was as expected. It’s definitely affordable, and it’s not directly downtown, but you do save a lot more staying here and driving downtown than at a hotel in downtown Portland. We drove to downtown Portland every day, and it was only about a 15 minute drive.

It’s a real decent hotel for the area. Simple, clean and quiet. I enjoyed the staff and the service was very good.

I am looking forward to coming back here again!

We always stay at Ramadas for their affordable price and decency in cleanliness and complimentary breakfast. Never have we had a problem with this hotel chain. Always friendly and always professional. Never had a problem with cleanliness. Although sometimes the bathrooms may need a little touch up on the ceiling or whatsoever, but overall we are fans and we like this chain!
This location in particular is close to many restaurants and across the street from a small mall. and right next to the freeway, so its AWESOME!
