Rodda Paint

This store has made me a Rodda customer for life. First, excellent paint! Their paint is so much denser than Miller or Behr or any other paint I’ve used. One coat (plus some next-​day touch-​ups) and the room was good to go. Also, not only is their base paint No-​VOC, but their colorants are also free of VOCs. Beautiful, toxin-​free paint that saved me hours in recoats. But the really great thing about this store is the staff. Super-​friendly, service-​driven folks who aim to please. Particularly Jordan, who has an amazing eye for color & created a perfect custom mix for me in no time. He seemed to really care that I was happy with the final product. Great paint + service with a smile! Thanks guys!

By far the biggest waste of time is to go to this store. First time I went they were out of the base for red paint — a huge store out of base, wtf? And asked the guy if they had any of those marketing brochures that show their paint in various rooms and he actually had no idea what I was talking about. Wow. Even Fred Meyer has a few of those to advertise their paint.
Next time we went, a few days ago, it took them over 20 minutes to get a gallon of paint made (at Pearl Hardware it takes 5 minutes) — and there was only one other customer in the whole place.
Third time, today, we had to return because we were one quart shy of what we needed to finish the paint job from last week’s visit — just one coat on one wall to go, and they first said they didn’t have the base for this paint. Seriously guys? A huge dedicated paint store who is always running out of base?
Then it turns out the actually DID have it but said that it was in a gallon and that they’d have to split it up so we could have our quart, and could we wait. Fine, we did as we’d biked 5 miles to get to the store. We started to wait and then the guy came over and said «well, we are out of labels for the paint so I can’t sell you a quart». Seriously — you refuse to accept a customer’s money because you are out of a LABEL? One of those WTF moments when in most places, they’ll just make it work for a customer so they can finish their painting project. They were totally indifferent, and recommended we go up to the NE location (on 119^th — and this was after we told them we’d biked there and didn’t own a car — wow, the gall).
Then my husband asked how soon they could have it ready, and first they said Monday. We went outside to discuss if we even wanted to do business based on the lack of service we’ve already witnessed and decided we’d give them one more chance and bike back to SE Portland to get it on Monday, and when he went in they decided the couldn’t actually tell us if the paint would be ready Monday or Tuesday or when!!! A quart of paint that they HAD the base in the store for yet refuse to sell it to us because they didn’t have a label for the can! WTF!
By far the crappiest service and the fact that they don’t do squat to fix a simple administrative problem on their end is baffling. They obviously only care about their commercial customers, because god forbid they find a way to sell paint to a homeowner (which by the way is sixty bucks a gallon — or more, as they seem to charge more depending on the color, which is very suspicious). We were left unable to finish our project, because they can’t tell us when we could actually buy a simple quart of paint from them which they had on hand but refused to put in a can.
Do NOT shop from these jerks!

Wandered around for at least 15 minutes and got no help from the 4+ people working there. Had questions about floor finish and tried to find a wallpaper book from a sample on display to no avail. Go to miller, they are much more customer friendly.
