It’s about QUALITY! If you’ve read my review about Maine Squeeze you’ll be happy to hear that I finally got what my body needed — At Roost! All organic, natural and sustainable, this place both smells and feels fresh! And that’s BEFORE drinking the juice! My North Woods juice was exactly what I needed — packed with the more vegetables than any other juice on the menu, but this was no V8. This green elixir was sweet and tangy, extraordinarily refreshing and gave me a nearly immediate boost in energy. I’ve been here a few times and have yet to be disappointed. Beyond the menu, the atmosphere also caters to local sustainability from the art work to the furnishings. And now they have cocktails? I cannot wait to try one for Happy Hour! They present your bill clipped in a simple clothespin which makes it so easy to just clip your card in. And after they’ve run your card, the card and slip are clipped via clothespin to a shingle. It’s a small thing but it was so easy and simple and I really preferred it over the traditional plastic things. I was greeted with a warm welcome upon entering, smiles all around. The highly skilled staff knows what their talking about and was quick to make recommendations. All around, you really get the bang for your buck here and I feel so much better for having gone. Thank you Roost!!!

After a string of unfortunate timing on my part(I think I must have stopped by here at 9:30 every morning for a week until I realized they opened at 10am), I was finally able to check out Roost House of Juice late one afternoon. The two women working behind the counter made me feel entirely welcome there despite the fact that they were at the very tail-end of their day. I watched with interest as they made — what looked like — crackers(which I see other reviewers have raved about) and kale chips. I felt no pressure to order right away and get out; so thanks lovely ladies of Roost for creating an atmosphere of leisure and acceptance. Segue… the vibe here(whether intentional, accidental, or simply created over time) is exactly what you would hope a vegan, all-natural(soy and gluten free, too) juice bar in Portland, ME would be. Meaning it’s an ideal location to relax, to meet with friends for a drink, to foster creativity, to nourish your body and mind, to start your day off on the right foot, or to end your day on a calming note. I would have set-up my laptop and stayed for hours if I could have! In the end, I was torn between the Carrot Cake, the Almond Butter and Jelly, and the Gram’s Apple Pie smoothies. I chose the apple pie one because it seemed appropriate given the time of year(autumn). The drink was delicious: a blend of locally-sourced apples, flax, coconut butter, homemade cashew butter, homemade sunflower seed milk, cinnamon, vanilla, and maple syrup. With every sip I could taste each individual component. And I super appreciated that I could identify everything that was going into my body as I drank the smoothie — there’s no hidden agenda at Roost House of Juice! The only thing that prevents me from swooning entirely over this place is the price. I definitely can’t afford to be spending nearly $ 10 on a smoothie every day(though I know their price point is completely accurate because of their use of entirely organic ingredients). For me, Roost will most likely end up being a treat from time to time(I’d still like to try both smoothies mentioned above, along with the Emerge & See juice); though it DEFINITELY will be my go-to when I’m a) not feeling well(because making your own juice when you’re poorly is no fun!); b) on a juice cleanse; or, c) feel the need to be set straight on my dietary path once again(especially after I wander a little too far away from the mostly vegan diet I like to eat). I’m also entirely interested in checking out their Monthly Tarot, Wine, & Juice night! So «hoo“s(an homage to Roost’s love of owls) in with me?!

Went with a girlfriend for lunch and ordered two falafel salads — took 25 minutes to prepare the smallest $ 9.00 salad ever. I will not be back, I was extremely disappointed.

This place is all organic which may be nice, but the juice tasted like I ate a mouthful of dirt. I have never had a juice like that before. I guess you could say it leaned a little bit too much to the organic side.

I had a quick lunch here one of the days that we were on vacation in Portland. I like that the place is gluten free and has dairy free options. I had the falafel salad which was pretty good. The falafel patties were delicious. However, I felt that the salad was too small for the price and they should have had more than just lettuce and 3 falafel patties. It wasn’t very filling and the lettuce was a bit bitter in some bites. Overall, it wasn’t a bad salad.

AHmazing!!! I went raw for 6 weeks last year and was in desperate need of a quick place to pop in and get a raw meal, smoothie, or juice. This is a much needed addition to the Portland vegan, vegetarian, and raw communities. Everything on the menu is great– try it– you’ll like it!

Best juice bar ever. Portland needs this, so go and SUPPORT it! They use organic everything in juice and smoothies(Whole Foods doesn’t!), and its just a quite pleasant place to hang out. It is way downtown among the lawyers and etc., but that is its only drawback, IMHO. It’s on the«Nickelodeon» end of Free St.

Loved this place for their knowledgeable staff and easy going atmosphere; the organic smoothie I had was simply okay. I had been juicing exclusively(no solid food) for about three weeks, and was traveling for business when I spotted this place. I can’t remember exactly what I ordered, but it was green and thick and very filling. I loved the energy and welcoming attitude of the ladies in this place. Reminded my of a hippie spot on my old college campus that sold everything from scent candles and incense to organic food. Anyway — I would definitely come again if back in there area.

My new favorite restaurant in Portland Maine. It’s organic, it’s vegan, it’s local, it’s amazing and I love all the raw food options. My favorite juice is the Emerge & See which I can always run in and get to go, my favorite meal is the collard wraps, my favorite smoothie is the Minty Fresh and I can never seem to get any of those kale chips to last longer than the car ride home!!! And don’t forget those full-joys which is Roosts version of bliss balls… whoa… I have been a few times a week since they opened and I plan to keep it up!!!

Yummy and satisfying raw food, and a wonderful variety of juices. I enjoyed the wrap of the day: an almond sun-seed mock tuna with organic veggies rolled into something similar to a collard leaf, but better. It was simple, fresh and tasty. I added a side of almond butter kale chips, which were out of this world. As for the juices, there are so many choices. It’s clear the owners put a lot of thought(and taste testing) into creating the juice menu. The result? Juices with a wonderful complexity of flavors. So good. So healthy. I had a lovely Shaktini, which was big on beets and tasted as good as it looked. I also tasted my husband’s Mojadito Pepino – an interesting mix of cucumber and kombucha. I look forward to trying other juices, smoothies and wine on future visits. To end on a sweet note, I ordered the aptly named cashew cayenne fulljoy. It was sweet with a tiny trickle of heat. Great combo! Roost House of Juice is a fantastic place for raw vegan food and juice in Portland.
