Rose City Sunroof

Had a great experience with Tracy, he pointed out the problem with my water leak in my van in just a few minutes without any hustle or bustle. Also suggested that he couldn’t fix it and referred me to a windshield repair guy. He asked for a very reasonable fee and I gave him an extra 10 bucks coz he’s a good dude and he was honest!

I recently took my Explorer to Rose City Sunroof. They were amazing to deal with and even met me on a Sunday so I could drop off my car! Price was very affordable compared to what I would have paid at a Ford Dealership. I highly recommend going to these guys if you are having Sunroof issues!

In all my years of owning a car, I have never had any mechanic or auto body person go to the lengths that Tracy did to fix my sunroof on my 2007 Mini. The motor that drives the sunroof had gone bad, but the roof itself was not doing well with too much resistance when it slid. He told me the motor would just go out again. He was determined to get a smooth operation so the motor would last a good long time.
After much work, he could not get it to slide nicely. These 2007 Mini sunroof mechanisms were designed poorly and he was reading all over the internet people’s problems with the sunroof, mainly because the back sunroof «had» to move also when the front one moves. He had to give up with keeping my original one in.
He found a used sunroof and refused to charge me for it, since he told me he could fix my original sunroof for a certain amount. That used one would not work right so had to get another one and try again. All the time, he was laughing and smiling as he played detective on Mini sunroofs. It’s not perfect but works great, and he saved me at least $ 3000, which is what a new sunroof would cost to purchase and install.
I couldn’t be happier. Having my sunroof is one of my great joys with my Mini and to have it working nicely (for the most part) is better than having just a pretty window to look up at!

Our mechanism broke on our 2005 F150. Ford wanted $ 2100 to repair. HOLY SHIZBOT. Did some searching on the Web and found Tracy. Ignored the BS reviews and called. Walked out of the there with a PERFECTLY repaired sunroof for SUBSTANTIALLY less. Highly recommend this business without hesitation.

This is my second aftermarket sunroof install with Rose City Sunroof. Knowing that I can fully trust the quality of their installs and the Signature sunroofs they use (made in the USA!), I deliberately purchased my new car without a sunroof so I could get one with a manual transmission. Excellent again Tracy and team! I will be back soon with my next car. Go SUN!

When another mechanic referred to Tracy as «The Inalfa King,» I was admittedly a bit skeptical. The King? Of a sub-​type of a sunroof? Frankly, it sounded like a bunch of bogus!
That is, until I met the man. Tracy, a jolly titan equipped with a wry grin and a radiant disposition. I showed him my battered, depressed sunroof, sloppily laced with silicone — with panache he assessed the damage, then quoted me a price half that of any previous estimate. In half the time. He didn’t even do that thing all mechanics do, when they cringe and inhale sharply and sort of hiss through their teeth, apprehensively. He didn’t do that once.
Two weeks later, I drove away not only leak-​free, but with a fully functional power sunroof, a luxury I haven’t been able to enjoy in 3-​odd years. Tracy did a bunch of extra work, no added cost. I couldn’t wait to share the news with friends and coworkers!
It made a very dull story, for it is impossible to convey the elation of a great repair to anyone who has not suffered the same annoyances for months, or years. Which is why I’m trying again, here. I figure you’d like to know.

NOT again! I attempted to meet up with Tracy to have my sunroof fixed but he never showed up at 9 am that morning. I called him numerous times, hoping to at least find out if he was ok; traffic can get pretty nasty during those hours of the day. I waited over half an hour with a busy two-​year-​old in the backseat, just to turn around and head back to NE PDX. It was a very unpleasant experience. I only feel comfortable leaving this crappy review because Tracy never did return my call.

Went to Rose City Sunroof for a persistent leaky sunroof on my 2003 Pontiac Vibe.
Originally, I went to Doctor Agua in Vancouver, WA. The repair person said that one of the hoses that diverts water from the sunroof had slipped off its nipple, causing a leak. After several days and $ 240, the leak seemed to disappear. Until six months later when it returned.
I came to Rose City Sunroof after reading its great reviews. Tracy, a big, happy fellow, took a look and quickly fixed the problem. The real culprit? A kink in the same hose Doctor Agua described was causing water to collect and leak between the nipple and the hose. Doctor Agua decided to glue the sh** out of the connection of the hose and the nipple, without ever even noticing the kink.
Tracy got down to the real problem within an hour, and for $ 120 — half the cost of Doctor Agua’s «repair.»
I’m finally relieved to solve the problem, and so thankful to Rose City Sunroof!

Not only awesome, not only informative (here’s how to not let this happen again, and here’s how to fix it if it does), but LAST MINUTE SERVICE BEFORE A RAINSTORM!!!

I went to Rose City Sunroof because I read Unilocal reviews saying it was a great place. Unfortunately it was the complete opposite.
I have a Subaru Outback and my front sunroof was leaking water into my dome light. I took it to Rose City Sunroof to be fixed. Tracy (the owner) seemed like a nice enough man and seemed to know what he was doing. Well I left my car with him and got it back later that day. Sweet, fast service. BUT the VERY next day in the rain my sunroof started leaking worse than before. That same day I tried opening my sunroof (which was working fine when I picked it up from the shop) and the electronics weren’t working. I called Tracy and he said my new seal had a guarantee on it and that I could bring it in at my earliest convenience. Thanks! But when I mentioned that the electronics weren’t working he (Tracy the owner) said «I didn’t touch your electronics». Which is a lie because I had to go back to the shop when he had my car cause a left my house key with my car keys. (My bad lol) When I arrived to get my house key my sunroof was detached from me car. Therefore he DID touch the electronics.
Anyway! I’m going to mention again that he said «I didn’t touch your electronics» because it will make sense with the rest of the story.
Anyway, I took my car up there again (25 miles one way from my house). I leave for a few hours and when I come back with my dad to get my car there is a HUGE CRACK from the top to the bottom of my windshield. My dad and I talked to Tracy right away and he said «it must have cracked when HE put cold water on the glass to check the seals» (cold water, hot glass, makes sense.)
So right then he took ownership of the crack and said his friend in the shop could probably fix it for us on a discount. Thanks, but why should we have to pay for what you broke?
I went home that day with my car and read the contract that I signed with Tracy when he first worked on my car. On the bottom of the contract it says that if there is damage done to a vehicle to bring a written claim to the shop owner. The shop owner would than assess the problem and go from there.
Well I brought a written claim down to Tracy. The first time I called ahead and said I was heading down. Only for him to up and leave the shop before I got there. So then I came down the next day without calling him first. Tracy the owner refused to sign my claim of damage. Raising his voice he said «I didn’t touch your windshield, you probably cracked it going over a bump.» (Remember how he said he didn’t touch my electronics either?) He then got even louder saying that if I wanted something done about it that I would have to take him to court. I told him that the claim was the beginning steps to court. I told him I didn’t want to go to court and neither did he, especially considering I had witnesses to what happened. I told him if he gave me my $ 280 dollars for the original repair then I would forget everything and not take him to court. He did end up agreeing to give me $ 200 back. I was happy with 200 considering he did attempt to fix my seal. So thank you for that.
But the fact remains that my seals were never fixed, my windshield was damaged and I got yelled at for trying to make a claim that HIS contract says to do.
I really do feel like he tried to take advantage of me for being a young woman. Thank god I know how the laws work because I am sure he has tried to scam people before.
Do not take your vehicle here. They will damage your car and then say someone else in their shop can fix the damage on a discount. (Just to try and get more money out of you.) I was nothing but friendly and professional with Tracy and he acted like a child when it came to honoring his contract.

And now my story about this wonderful business, which I’m late to Unilocal-​review but was reminded to do so after these last few days of pouring rain.
Rose City Sunroof ROCKS.
After the local Chevy dealership failed to successfully repair my leaky sunroof (after 2 tries and $ 500+ in charges) they shrugged their shoulders and said I needed to buy a whole new kit to replace it (which would have been an additional $ 1000+).
Refusing to accept their solution, I drove to Rose City Sunroof and begged for help. Not only did they do an impeccable job repairing the sunroof (it has never leaked a drop since, even in this recent deluge), they were fast, very pleasant, and absolute experts on sunroof repair. I could not recommend a business more highly.
