You’re not going there for food. You’re going for cocktails… and cocktails only.
Not only will you meet one of the best bartenders in town (Aaron), you’ll also get an education about your drink.
Aaron crafts most of his additives (bitters, shrub, etc.) and is usually happy to discuss all of the ingredients going into your drink. The best idea is to give him a few ideas of what you like and to let him go to work. You might not get the same drink twice… but it will be great.
He also collects vintage liquors and will have select nights where he creates cocktails with those old-​timey bottles, such as a 1926 Vermouth or an 1874 (yes — 1800’s) Port. You’ll never see those combinations again.
I wanted to take one star off because he’s a Red Sox fan… but they’ve already suffered enough.

I never know what I want when I’m ordering a drink, so it was awesome to find a bartender who could make something up on the fly for me. Great space, not too big, not too small. Everyone I’ve met there, whether they work there or go there has been super fun and friendly. I’ve been a few times and I’ll be back often!

ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS AMMMMAZZZZING — so. this. place. is. amazing. 1. The music 2. The atmosphere 3. The fact it is still oh so under the radar and not overly crowded 4. The bar snacks — that are free and include a dope mix of nuts, seeds and crispy stuff 5. The staff — approachable, genuine, yet not overly in your face — Aaron and Veronique are SUPERB —– take my advice — go — you will enjoy it and you will go back with more friends (unless you don’t like great drinks, amazing music and cool people).

I don’t know why you’re reading this review and not just at Santé drinking a cocktail right now. This place is awesome. I ordered the bartender’s roulette and mentioned that I enjoy Manhattans and Old Fashioneds. In about 30 seconds I received one of the best cocktails I’ve had in Portland. The bartender is great, the atmosphere is of a laidback neighborhood bar despite being on the park blocks, and soon they will have a giant TV showing the Blazers. Love this place!

New fave downtown bar! Super-​friendly bartender Aaron made us custom drinks all evening long, we just told him which spirits we liked. He’s got some really creative and special tricks up his sleeve! And he’s an eggnog champion! Great conversation, fun music, cool atmosphere. Looking forward to going back! Thanks for a really nice evening :)

The owner was the bartender and he greeted us warmly as we came in and then came over and spoke to us a few times during our visit. He had a 1951 Korbel brandy that was so smooooth…
Great intimate neighborhood bar with great music and a fun vibe. The owner’s passion is refreshing, and he’s an interesting guy. My new favorite place!

WE LOVE SANTE’ Finally… my favorite neighborhood hangout! Great food, fun events, wonderful staff, french music, the mixologist is highly skilled and makes sure everyone gets to try new things… They also have some nice wines. The owner has great energy and creates events that are socially concious but fun. The different musical venue varies as does the art.

Mad scientist craft cocktails. If you’ve ever had a sneaking suspicion that a gin & tonic might be better with some actual ginger, or that burnt rosemary and whisky are kindred spirits, or you just have an innate appreciation of creative cocktails mixed and served in unique glassware (a 3-​spouted mixing glass!), Sante will be a boon to your health. Also, excellent staff and live music on Saturday nights. A nice antidote to the posh-​or-​divey options in Old Town.

This is a lovely intimate place to have a delicious cocktail (I recommend the bartenders roulette, where you choose the spirit, and Aaron makes a delicious concoctions, that fit your flavor profile)
There is a large table for a group, and smaller tables. All the chairs are armless. (big deal for bigger folks) They have a nice winelist and small food menu to enjoy with your drinks. Everyone here is wonderful Enjoy your visit!

For a town muddied by «craft» cocktails, Santé brings an expertise to the stick unlike any other haunt in town. I’m happy to finally find a refreshing and experienced mix in Portland. See Aaron or Sara if you’d like to actually enjoy a properly produced cocktail. Don’t forget the deviled eggs!

This intimate wine/​special spirit bar is really nice for date night.
If you are a wine drinker, they do have a nice selection to pair with with your cheese board and gnocchi.
