I went there with my brother in July. We both had an amazing time. Laura who was our guide and trainer was very patient and nice person. She made us feel comfortable. The horses were well trained and well maintained. I recommend this place for

I am getting ready to move my horse out to Sauvie Stables on the 13th of this month along with my good friend and her horse. WEKNOW about crappy stables and arrogant people… this is not one of them. I ride my horse to ride my horse and there isnt a REAL horse person alive that can keep their horses out of mud in the winter in oregon unless they are not allowed outside at all. HOWEVER if i were to see my horse in bad conditions I would be moving him ASAP nic epeople or not. Injury happens at stables. Always has always will. These are HORSES not puppies. Well thanks for all the reviews here on both sides. I’ll be seein for myself soon enough:)

I can’t say enough good things about Sauvie Island Stables, particularly Lara. She took my little sister and me on a trail ride and we had the absolute best time. She showed us the ranch, gave us a lesson, went way longer than the 1 hour by giving us personal instruction, and had the sweetest personality and attitude. Take your kids trail riding at Sauvie Island Stables with Lara!

My daughter(11) has been riding here for almost 7 years! We LOVE the stable. Great, salt of the earth, people! Don’t let one bad review fool you! Some people will always find something to complain about…

When I got back into riding during the winter last year, I leased a horse here. The facility is oh-so-perfectly situated on the lovely Sauvie Island, 20 minutes from N. Portland, and they have the best self-care prices in town. I loved going out there to hang out with the horse. However — this summer after getting my own horse, I made an attempt to board here, but quickly changed my mind. The horses are turned out during the winter in mud paddocks fenced with wood. Mud paddocks — not good — but it gets worse. During the summer horses are turned out in pastures with barbed wire fencing and unmarked wire fencing. I saw a horse run through the unmarked wire fencing(not the barbed fencing) when he was left out by himself after all of the other horses were brought in. The barn owner couldn’t handle the situation and went inside while I stayed with the injured horse to wait for his owner and the vet. It was bad. I’ve heard another horror story from someone else who used to board there, and taking all factors into account, I would never leave my horse in the care or handling of these people. Plus, while some of the people boarding there were cool, many of the other boarders were unkind and shallow. What a pity, as there isn’t a better location for boarding a horse, and I believe it’s the only boarding facility on the island. :(
