Rented from this company for a year and a half. They were terrible. From the very start, when they(Kristen) promised us ½ off our security deposit and then reneged the day we moved in we should have known better. Any issues we ever had were not dealt with in a timely manner. Instead of calling the office we had to eventually start just calling the owner of the company to get ANY attention. More than a year after move in, our porch/storage area was taken away because of the«fire department inspection». Upon many of us(tenants) talking to the fire department they confirmed that it was not an egress and they had no idea why we weren’t allowed to use it any more. After taking away the storage area that was included in our lease, they offered us storage in the basement for $ 25/month. There were so many more issues, too many to list. The neighbors were mostly loud, drunk, unemployed lowlifes. Do not rent from Schneider Property Management. There is a reason why there are so many negative reviews. I am a professional with no pets, kids, and I ALWAYS paid my rent on time. I expect better treatment from a supposedly reputable company.

Absolute worst property management company to ever exist. When we moved in the property was disgusting. Honestly that’s an understatement. After two years we move out and leave it in much better condition than it was when me moved in, with a few minor issues that we weren’t able to attend to before moving out. A few hundred dollars max for painting and patching. We were required to put down a double security deposit($ 2,600) before moving in. We just today(almost a month after moving out) received a letter(expected a check with it) with an itemized list of everything they claim needed to be done to the property after our moving out. Apparently we OWE them almost $ 300 on top of the double security deposit, in it’s entirety. We feel completely ripped off and there is absolutely nothing we can do about it. I wouldn’t recommend renting from this property management company whatsoever.

10TIPSFORSURVIVINGSCHNEIDERPROPERTYMANAGEMENT: 1. Before moving in, take pictures of EVERYTHING! Every scratch on the floor, every ding in the wall, every nail hole, EVERYTHING! 3. Pay your rent on time, keep records of everything, and get everything in writing! Canceled checks, maintenance requests, voicemails, lease agreements, addendums to the lease, memos taped to your door EVERYTHING! 2. Get Craig’s personal cell phone number so when management inevitably fails to fill a maintenance request you can call him directly and get the issue resolved. 3. Do not file a maintenance request online. It will go unanswered for weeks! Call Craig directly or call the office and STAYONTOPOFTHEM! Note: Julie sounds cranky when she answers the phone, but is nice to you if you’re nice to her. 4. Your neighbors will inevitably be apathetic, nosy, shit bags because they live off the government and the rent is cheap so be okay with that before you move in. 5. Don’t bother cleaning before you move out. You will get charged a cleaning fee no matter what. 6. Be nice to the maintenance guy, Jay. He’s a good guy and will make you a priority if you’re not a jerk. The other guy is a creep, and will talk your ear off if you let him. 7. Craig is a businessman. Everything is negotiable even if he says it’s not. Don’t be afraid to haggle with him. Whether it’s the cost of rent or a storage space in the basement he will negotiate with you if you are a good tenant and pay your rent on time. He wants to keep your business because you are a reliable tenant. One thing I learned while in a lease, was that there were different rules for everybody. 8. After you move out and get a bill saying that you owe money don’t just write a check. Go through what they’re charging you for and make sure the charges are legitimate. Most likely there is at least one error and you can get it removed. This is why you keep detailed records of everything. 9. If you move out early and you have paid through the end of the lease period, but they find a tenant to fill your apartment before the lease is actually up, make sure you get reimbursed for ALL of the days that the new tenant has occupied the space. They WILL try to screw you on this! 10. Be aware of your legal rights as a tenant and the legal responsibilities of your landlord. ie. specificities of «wear and tear,» things you will get charged for upon moving out, etc. Knowledge is power and it will be useful for you to know your rights when you get taken advantage of and they WILL try to take advantage of you. I understand most of this seems like common sense, but if you’re a first time renter and/or are a young renter this will help you survive living here. I’m speaking from experience. Before buying a house, I rented at eight different places, in three different states, during the span of ten years. I’ve always been a good tenant, and my rent has always been paid on time with the exception of one bounced check(in my younger years). This is by far the worst property management company/landlord situation I’ve done business with. Beware.

We went to see a house they had listed. It took them 2 days to call me back to schedule a viewing. I submitted my application online later that day and they charged me $ 50($ 25×2 people) immediately to process background and credit checks. This was on a Thursday. By Monday, I still had not heard back from them, so I emailed the woman who showed me the home. After I emailed her again, she finally got back to me on Tuesday telling me that they had not processed my application because I was missing a piece of information, and the house had already been rented. They still have my $ 50 and won’t return my calls or emails. Everything about this place screams scam. Buyer beware. UPDATE: According to the note below, I could have used my same application for another rental. That would ordinarily be fine… but NOONEEVERRETURNEDMTCALLS. So my money and time were wasted. I will NOT recommend this company to anyone.

This management company is always offering a rental but has a very nasal sounding receptionist answering the phone with very little answers about anything. Secondly, what, may I ask you, is the purpose of such stringent application requirements for a rental. If I wanted my mid-range fico to be taken into such consideration, I would be applying for a mortgage. Lastly, communication on pending rental applications are not good either. Overall, I try to avoid rentals offered by this management company like the plague.
