Shilo Inn Hotel & Suites Beaverton

The posted photos will tell the story, but if you can’t see them clearly, here is what we found in not one, but two rooms … before we left for another hotel:
Dried grass pieces, like from someone cleaning a lawnmower or a golfer’s shoes on the heating/​air conditioning unit and surrounding carpet.
Heavily stained sheets and pillowcases.
Bloodstains on a chair and wall.
Food crumbs on the sticky table.
Large purple/​red stain on the carpet near the bed.
Heavy cigarette smell.
Dirt on lid of toilet seat.
Ripped chair seat.
The staff person at the front desk was apologetic and tried to help us, but when the second room is as filthy as the first, there’s not much he could do.

Very disappointed on our recent trip. We stayed in room 157 and this whole section of the building including our room had a bad odor. When we received our free breakfast vouchers the lady at the desk informed me that my 2 queen bed room was for only 2 guests and that my child would not be receiving a voucher because she would be considered the third guest. So I guess my husband and I were to sleep in our own separate beds and my daughter in a different room.

My family and I had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal at The Mark. I am gluten & dairy free due to serious allergies. Chef Rocco took the time to give me a personal tour of what I could eat at the buffet so I wouldn’t get sick. He also had a special desert set aside for me. I am extremely grateful to him for taking the time and caring about my health. We will be back for sure. Thank you Chef Rocco!

This place needs some updating as far as the décor goes. The rooms feel like something out of Bates Motel or The Shining haha, but don’t let the room décor scare you off. The bed was super comfy and my family and I slept great our entire stay. Water pressure in the shower is nice and the restaurant style breakfast was a treat. Everyone was extremely helpful and kind. Great location, safe area, and the price was right.

Very reasonable prices and good amenities. Great customer service and nice bar and restaurant on location. Would definitely come back again.

Pros: Inexpensive, clean, easy drive into Portland, OK continental breakfast included
Cons: Outdated, on a busy road.
If you are looking to save money by not staying in Portland, then this place is worth considering.

When I walked into the lobby I was immediately hit with the smell of smoke and asked if this is a smoking hotel? It is a shame because it is a beautiful location, and a good value. However the cigar bar leaves
a huge «mark» upon the quality of air. I wish someone had forewarned me about this.
The cigar smell seeped into my room and was even in the AC Unit. I ended up cutting my days short due to the strong smell of smoke. I couldn’t enjoy the deck or complimentary breakfast since my stench repelled any appetite. However if you smoke cigarettes or cigars, you will probably find this to be a true haven. The staff was courteous and my animals were accommodated.

We booked the room based on their reasonable rates and its location, but this place is very old and tired. Everything looks ancient, dirty or held together waiting for repairs. We called the front desk because the faucet in our tub was running constantly and I really didn’t want that as a distraction while I was trying to sleep. The maintenance guy came and said there was nothing he could do, that the whole building was like that. Really? The only reason this isn’t getting a single star from me is that the staff were uniformly nice and very helpful. Plus, they have my sympathy for having to work in a facility like this. I will not be staying here again.

Positive: People working here are really nice. Breakfast was ok. but no fruit.
Cons: I could write an essay. Old, carpets disturbing, mattress from 1980. But that is not the worst part… ordered room service. they can’t put the charge on your room. You have to give your CC to the food runner. who then takes it somewhere to run it. And they run your card for the full stay at check in.
Security is a joke… Non locking sliding door. PVC pipe used to secure it!!!
And get this. this place is in such dire need of renovation… they still use metal keys… With the room number on them!!! Nothing like dropping your key and someone else has access to your room. What if I dropped it in the parking lot on my way to the of ice? Wife in the shower. nothing but bad things could happen

At least it’s somewhat clean. I asked for extra pillows three times and never received them.

If I could rate this place a zero, I would. I reserved rooms for my friend and myself. We arrived at separate times and she paid for her room with her credit card. The next day we came back from a meeting and she was locked out of her room. They stated that she hadn’t paid and needed to pay again or provide a receipt to prove payment. Of course the receipt was locked in her room.
Initially, they refused to come help her, stating that she needed to come back to the front desk (in another building), but she has had a recent knee surgery. After much discussion, they finally came and unlocked the door so she could show her receipt. The whole experience was embarrassing and she was treated like a criminal.
I understand that mistakes happen, but when I reserved the room, they took my number. They could have least called or at least reviewed their check in information before locking her out of her room. Not staying at a Shilo Inn ever again.

Decent, clean, and good enough for one night. They give you a free glass of wine and a free breakfast. The breakfast was okay. You have to order toast — they don’t have a toasting area with bagels/​english muffins like many places have. Nothing special.
The hostess, Josephine, doesn’t know how to smile or know what «hospitality» means. Jeff, our waiter, was very gracious, though.

Average hotel with a great price. Has cigar bar, regular bar (two mix max, nothing fancy), pool and The Mark. Free breakfast with a handful of options during the week that is made to order and pre made basics for the weekend (sausage, bacon, eggs, etc). About a 30 minute drive to downtown Portland with max traffic. Overall clean atmosphere with descent rooms… just a little dated.

Just checked in last night around midnight. We reserved 2 beds since we were traveling with our son, but got a king size bed. A little squishy, but considering it was late, we slept fine. No toiletries (shampoo, conditioner or lotion) just soap. The water pressure was great coming from drought California. Could not find a elevator and it was kind of difficult to find our room. Nice greenery and fountain in the courtyard. But we were glad to check out the next day.

The pros: location is fine, lots of conveniences nearby and not too hard to get to Portland from there by car. Shower is kick-​ass with great water pressure and never ran out of hot water, even with my teenager getting in there before me. The staff is courteous and helpful, and they offer a complimentary breakfast that far surpasses what you would expect from a complimentary breakfast — eggs, sausage, fresh fruit (cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple and watermelon when I was there) bacon, cereal, bagels, pastries, etc. There was no waiting for it, and the staff in the restaurant did a great job of taking care of all the guests. The outdoor pool is nice and there are hanging baskets of flowers everywhere, along with a nice outdoor area with a gazebo. I felt safe here, and it was quiet. I would recommend this place, but it might not be my first choice, due to the cons listed below.
The cons: the price could be better, the bathroom could be cleaner, the beds are a bit soft and the pillows did not thrill me. Also, the tv is old and it was a real disappointing and small selection of channels that were available. I definitely expected more there, and that is an area in need of improvement.

Had a nice stay here! The room was comfortable and had everything I needed as far as amenities. The complimentary breakfast the next morning was okay, but I’ve had better at budget hotels where you get all kinds of croissants, danishes, bagels, hot waffles, sausage, bacon, etc.
The breakfast here, in comparison, was meager. I got a mini box of cereal and a single-​serving carton of milk. You actually have to place your order and they bring it out to you, so it’s not buffet-​style.
Aside from the breakfast, I actually slept well in the room and thought everything else was fine… although the hotel is on the older-​looking side and service is not especially enthusiastic but more perfunctory.

This is a great place to stay and we will definitely be back! Friendly and helpful staff good food at the mark and very reasonable prices. It’s not your normal hotel it’s much better. If your coming to Portland this is the place to stay. free breakfast made to order not your coffee and donuts and cold eggs that you get at big chain hotels.

Came here for a two night stay this last weekend. Booked online and for a pretty good deal. We checked in Saturday night with no issues, and were given two free drink tickets during our stay. We were also informed we get free breakfast (a certain selection) from the hotel’s restaurant The Mark. We had a king room that was spacious and clean. There was a view of the fountain which was pretty nice. Rooms were quiet, we couldn’t hear anyone next to us. We had the breakfast buffet which was good, and after a day on the coast, our room was tidy. Went to dinner which was also good, and used our free drink coupons. Check out is late (noon), most other places I have been to is 11am. Great service, tidy, quiet, and complimentary stuff. I have no reason not to come back here!

1. Every single person I’ve spoken to at the front desk has behaved as if they can’t be bothered.
2. The free breakfast is pretty OK, but once again, we were treated as a bother.
3. While the room we were put in was a «complimentary upgrade», the upgrade consisted of a room straight out of 1982. I will admit I was pleasantly surprised that our room had a washer and dryer, but the dryer never did heat up.
4. The king bed was old and lumpy.

Travelers! I invite you to answer the questions below to determine if this Shilo Inn serves your hotel purposes.
Do you like meeting new people? If so, the Shilo is for you! They leave their security doors propped open at all hours, so random locals can wander in and out, such as the friendly folks who sit in the parking lot drinking tallboys all day. I hope they can come over for a nightcap later!
Are you on a diet? Perfect! The Shilo promises you a full breakfast each morning at The Mark restaurant, but never fear — you will have to wait 30 minutes for a table for no apparent reason given the many empty seats, and then your food will never arrive, so you will leave hungry and frustrated. So good for the waistline!
Are you trying to get away from it all? The Shilo will help. Your TV will be broken, and your promised free wifi will be weak and drop your device repeatedly. No worries about unwanted electronic intrusions here!
Do you prefer a hands-​off management approach? Perfect, because if you mention any of these issues to the Shilo staff, they will say «sorry» and then not do anything or offer a refund. No micromanaging at this place!
(Seriously though, this place is terrible.)
