I have been to Siano’s multiple times and never leave feeling the urge to return with that giddy sense of a great meal or service. I find their food to be overpriced, their pizza to be salty, and their service to be less than cheerful. Their two pros are their location in the otherwise uninhabited restaurant zone of mid Stevens Avenue and their large meeting room in the back. Recently I was there with a very large party that was turned away from the Great Lost Bear due to our size. Upon being seated in the room in the back, we ordered drinks as people arrived. Our server repeatedly told us we couldn’t shut the door and even scolded us after the intoxicated men that we were trying to avoid came into the back room to play video poker and then shut the door behind them. She again came in and told us not to shut the door… Not sure what the issue was other than it inconvenienced her as she came and went with trays. She checked in on us a few times and also served us food. Other than that, nothing special occurred. She«couldn’t» split the check for a large party and then did something that is a huge pet peeve of mine, being an ex server… She added in tip without telling us. I know this practice and servers, most of whom are either bitter or less than honest, will add in tip on the bill without telling the party, in the hopes of getting an extra tip on top of that. I am pretty sure she was not stoked about serving a large party in their«private» room. If you don’t want to wait on a group that large, you can say no like the restaurant we tried before that. It would have been better than disgruntled overpriced, service. I won’t be returning here after this experience.

I’ve been meaning to do this update since November. Sianos was our favorite go-to brunch spot, giving it rave reviews to everyone who asked for a good breakfast spot. We had a couple bad experiences(thought maybe it was because we brought a four table instead of usually just the two of us), we kept giving them more chances, then final straw was November 1st. My husband ordered his usual steak tips medium rare and this is what came to our table. Burnt beyond recognition, potatoes were ruined even the scrambled eggs were dry and brown. Just ruined and this was after waiting forever for our food and there was virtually no one in there. Unfortunately this was the last order of steak tips they had so they couldn’t remake it, husband said he would try the corned beef hash instead and waitress confessed that it was no longer homemade and instead came out of a big industrial can. So we basically waited forever and only I got to eat and even my benny(overcooked and slopped on the plate) and potatoes(burnt) were barely edible. I cook for a living, I would have been embarrassed to send that to a customer. It’s not even food anymore. Yuck. We were there every other weekend like clockwork, the experience was so terrible we haven’t been back since.

I really really like this place. The atmosphere is fun and very family friendly. When I come in with my boys they always give them pizza dough to play with. My oldest boy is fascinated by the brick oven. The pizza is pretty good, and the food is great. I love their chicken Parmesan and their lasagna. Their hamburgers are not as good. This is more of an Italian place anyway, so just order the Italian food. My favorite memory here, the waitress asked my 4 year old(at the time) son to dance with her and he got so excited and blushed the whole time. They are really nice here. I just love their service. Honestly, this was my family’s go to place for quite a while. If you’re in the mood for Italian, I’d definitely go here.

I love pizza. Im also picky about my pizza. The crust must be the right texture, the sauce must have the right amount of spices, and the topping selection has to be large. Siano’s is consistent with its deliciousness. There are so many toppings to choose from and no matter what the pizza sauce and crust will have the right texture and spice/flavor. I highly recommend trying eggplant on your pizza, it’s a very unique pizza topping and combined with the cheese and tomato sauce it tastes like eggplant parm(yum!) Siano’s also has a great beer selection, and makes great Bloody Mary’s. The service is always great. Give it a try!

Great brick oven pizza. The crazy Mary is one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had and worth a try. It is a pizza with chicken and honey mustard instead of pizza sauce and tastes amazing. All their pizza is good but this is a unique stand out. Only bad thing was that the service was a little slow for the amount of people in the restaurant that night

Quaint neighborhood bar with pub fare and pizza… menu looked decent with several apps… pizzas…salads…sandwiches…and enter food choices… I had a couple of Guinness drafts with a Bulldog sandwich… salami…capacola.prosciutto…peppers…tomato…and oil… nothing special… it was served on a sub roll, which was underwhelming and it needed more oil… which I got a side of… the fries were, to me, overcooked,… I hear the pizza is the choice… which I didn’t have… Only real negative… it is very loud in the dining section, which is beside the bar… and it was only 5:30 pm when we ate. 3 stars on first visit… average…nothing special

After hearing some fairly good things about this place I was excited to meet one of my buddies for a drink at this place. Atmosphere is ok and the food looks good(I wasn’t eating but my friend did) The bartender/owner… I have a hard time understanding how this place is in business with this guy running it. For the first time in my life I had a bare tender never speak to me once. He looked at me like«what do you want» I orders a drink and he dropped it in front of me and walked away. After a while of talking with my friend he brought my friend his bill but not mine. I placed my card on the bar as a suggestion that I was ready to pay up and after he took my card he literally threw it back at me after he swiped it(over priced by the way). Still never said a word. He has a tremendously arrogant stigma around him and I wouldn’t go back because of it. Not to mention he disappears for long periods of time and pays no attention to his customers. All set… There’s plenty of other places to eat.

Pizza is really good here. The take out order service is not. Both times that I called in take out orders, they screwed it up. The first time, they made the wrong meal. I did not know till I got home. I brought it back, and the response was a nonchalant«oops. We screwed up. Get you the right thing in 10 minutes.» Which, incidentally, took 25 minutes. Wasted an hour of my life. Yesterday, I ordered a pizza. Got there, and the wait person looked at the pizza, which was badly burned, and making the best of a bad situation, said: «Did you order this well done?» No, i dd not, and she had them make the right pizza. Another wasted 20 minutes. Comping is not required behavior in a restaurant when there is a screw up, but, Sianos, you would do well to demonstrate your customer commitment in some way when you do not live up to your obligations.

The Pat’s Market Pizza and Thai wings are always so good! There’s cheaper priced pizza around town, but this pizza is the best I’ve tried. I’ve only tried take-out and the service is fast and friendly.

Never disappointed. Delicious brick over pizza, always cooked perfectly with wonderful toppings. The Thai sauce on the wings is one of my favorites. I love that you can watch the staff prepare the pizza(I don’t know how they toss it around like that) A very laid back seat yourself environment. A great place to stop for a beer and pizza. Very reasonably price with a fast friendly staff.

Siano’s is a quick stroll from my home and school so it’s a really convenient place to eat. Meals have been very good with some minor exceptions that may just be due to my taste preferences. Service is good and the servers are friendly. If the weather is nice take advantage of the outdoor seating. PS. If you’re new to this spot and want pizza I recommend the Crazy Mary

It’s interesting to read two contrasting reviews of Siano’s posted yesterday. Mine, regrettably, reflects the latter. My wife and I used to live around the corner so frequented the restaurant quite often. The food was always good and the service was fine. Unfortunately, our experience last night was far from adequate. I have to agree with one of the other reviewers on here that the male bartender was exceptionally rude. He definitely seemed to be on something as, not only was he chewing his face off, he seemed unable to string a coherent sentence together. This did not stop him, however, from unleashing a tirade of rather unexpected, unprovoked and bigoted abuse in our direction. We were taken aback to the extent that we immediately left the establishment after paying for our drinks. Needless to say, we won’t be returning. It’s a shame because we’ve had some good times there in the past.

Recently when I’ve been here I’ve witnessed a very tweaky male bartender who apparently is the owner. He constantly chews his gums, is belligerently obnoxious and is just so unpleasant. The last time I went there he even very creepily fondled my forearm. It’s a shame because the food is reasonable. I just feel like I’m in a crack den every time I have to deal with that piece of shit asshole bartender. Fuck this place. I will never be back and I will ensure that everyone I know stays as far away as possible.

At the end of a long work day, either Monday or Friday, it’s always nice to know there’s a family run, casual, solid place around the corner to eat. A short walk from a friend’s apartment, Sianos seemed like a great dinner escape. Parking is pretty easy, whether right on Stevens Ave or a side street, you’ll be close by. I’ve eaten here about 5 – 6 times and each time we’ve never been greeted and kind of confused as to what table we were allowed to eat at; sometimes looking for apps and beer vs a casual, sit down dinner. The menu is pretty standard in terms of family Italian. Good variety of pizzas, salads, a few apps, decent entrée selection from chicken Marsala to salmon and a different group of sandwiches. Last week I had their chicken and rice soup which was very tasty. My company had the chicken parm sandwich which was a bit flavorless. The fries on the other hand, stellar! Tonight I had the(sweet & herby) French onion soup that stayed extremely hot until I finished the crock and we also ordered a large Quality Pie, which wasn’t bad at all. With four beers and those two dinners our bill came to about $ 44. If you’re picky about how your clothes smell after leaving a diner, I’d suggest avoiding this place. My outfit went straight to the wash. I know Sianos holds strong to their family oriented dining with a small bar crowd and this community is lucky to have them, but you just can’t be picky about the things that are important to me. For my tastes, ordering out fits me best :)

We are locals and like the atmosphere here but today it’s about 20 degrees outside and not much warmer inside. I froze during my entire meal. We even moved from a booth near the takeout register to a table at the other end of the bar near the non working wood stove. I can understand that the staff is comfortable but for us diners to be eating with our coats on should tell u something. And just about everyone had there coats on. We had pizza tonight, not their best. Burnt spots and then soggy parts. Won’t be back until spring!

I’ve only been to Siano’s twice; both times for happy hour with my best friend, as it’s local to both of us. The happy hour pricing is great and if you hit it at the right time the noise is not so bad but it picks up quickly. The staff I’ve encountered was friendly, but more attentive to people at the bar I assumed to be ‘regulars.’ Planning on trying it for a real dinner sometime but I do plan to keep on having happy hour there.

Walking distance from my sister’s apartment(which during a snowstorm is pretty nice), however our experience was mediocre at best. Upon entering, it is a seat yourself establishment, which we did, but we felt like no one saw us there since it took a while for anyone to come greet us. Not sure if it is always a seat yourself scenario or just during less busy times. We had side salads which were pretty good(they do use good spring mix lettuce as opposed to iceberg) and a whole wheat 10″ pizza with chicken. Not sure if its because of the size we chose or because of the wheat or because all of their pizzas are like this but crust was superrr crunchy! Pizza was bland and nothing special with not very much chicken on it. In general, there are much better pizza options in Portland(I did hear from a friend they make good subs). The meal was really cheap, though, and our waitress was very attentive and kind.

FOOD: 4 EXPERIENCE: 3 I just ate here for dinner with my roommates at around 8pm. The place was pretty busy on a Monday night in a friendly neighborhood. Through word of mouth, we heard that this was a place to go for pizza. We ordered two 10″ pizzas(8 slices each) called, «The Pine» and«Crazy Mary.» Pretty good portions for 4 girls. «The Pine» pizza was average. It was like any other supreme-like pizza that I could have eaten in California. The«Crazy Mary» is delicious! The subtle dijon taste is my favorite to this dish. I most likely will order this again! The only major problem with the thin pizzas were the slightly burnt crusts on a part of each pizza’s edge. Service isn’t that great. We seated ourselves at a table and waited awhile before we got our menus. We waited again for the server to take our order. However, the pizzas were served promptly. I noticed that they only had 2 servers, 1 bartender, and 1 cook tonight so I guess they didn’t expect the large crowd. Even the waiter mentioned how unexpectedly swamped they were. The ambiance of the pizza/bar joint is pretty friendly and what it’s supposed to feel like. They have happy hour from 3pm to 6pm and an all you can eat pizza special from 11pm to 2am. Overall, I would go here for a bite to eat from time to time.
