Sidesaddle Tack Shop

I really enjoyed this tack shop. I was visiting Portland and really didn’t know what to expect, being a barrel racer from South Dakota. They had a large selection of English items, and a fair selection of western items. Alot of the items were secondhand. I came home with very fair priced polos. Definitely a good place to go when looking for used items at fair prices. I would not recommend this shop for people who want the most expensive best things in the market.

Disappointing selection and a pain to find since it’s actually in the back of a hardware store instead of a storefront. There’s a great selection of both English and Western tack supplies, but a tiny selection of helmets and boots. The owner was nice, but left me to my own devices even though I could have used some assistance with boots. There were a handful of boots, mostly consignment, the pants were small in the waist and huge in the crotch, and as I looked for a helmet, I felt like I had to pry for his expertise. The helmet that did fit was huge, and turned out to be a training helmet. I didn’t feel like I was getting the best service when I’d said I was an advanced rider, so I made a small purchase and left. If you know what you’re looking for, it could be fine for you, but I was disappointed I almost left with a lot of stuff that didn’t fit. Might be a better place to sell your old horse tack.

A great find! I went from the west side of Hillsboro to this saddle shop and I was not disappointed. Plenty of consignment saddles to look at (I went looking specifically for an English jumping saddle but they also had Western saddles) and lots of other tack and horse equipment as well. The owners were so nice and my husband got to browse through the hardware store up front while I was in the horse area in back. Easy to get to, good parking, nice selection. As good as it gets!

Great prices and great service. I scored a great deal on Ariat boots. They even ordered Ariat XL half chaps for me. Friendly and helpful.
