Love this little truck! I had the burger which was recommended and it was fantastic. Very juicy and perfectly seasoned. Nice touch with the gochujang ketchup it really made the burger. Also had the onion rings which were great. Fast service and they were very friendly. Hope to see them in the L/A soon

I had the Korean BBQ pork belly sandwich and I’ll echo another review. It was good but not good enough to justify price. I was expecting awesome based on the ingredients, but alas it was ok.

This was absolutely fantastic. The service was quick, friendly, and the food was superb. The chicken tikka is to die for. I’d happily eat here for the rest of my stay in Portland.

I can only attest to the Korean BBQ pork belly sandwich, it was delicious, though it was kinda spendy. I also ordered the homemade lemonade which also was good but also on the expensive side for the amount given. . I hope to visit again soon and try the other offerings this food truck has to offer. I’ll give it three stars for now because of cost per portion(if you have read any of my reviews this is important to me) BUT know you’re getting a great tasting meal !.

Small Axe has really kicked up the standard for Portland’s food trucks. Every sandwich and basket comes out just looking mouthwatering. Korean BBQ pork belly, chicken tika masala, or fried fish you can’t go wrong. Everything looks and smells so darn good. On today’s visit, I had the fried locally sourced fish sandwich.(Yay me! Go Local) Of course the batter was perfectly golden, but more importantly had a delightful texture and flavor. The fish itself was thick and flakey. But wait there is more! The bun was just so substantial, dense, and slightly sweet. That perfect little sphere of bread not only tasted great but it completed its job admirably keeping its form throughout my meal. A lessor bread would have crumbled under the weight of the rich fried deliciousness of the fish. The addition of a brilliantly tangy slaw to the sandwich just made the whole thing pop! Based on the food alone they are well deserving of 4 stars. I gave them an extra star due to their decision to take up residence in Congress Square Park. I had formerly thought of the park as an underutilized eyesore. The addition of this little red food truck has effectively transformed this space into convenient spot to grab a bite while they enjoying the sounds and sights of our little city. Thank you for making Portland a better place.

Great place for yummy, quick eats. Their sandwiches(pineapple express, pork belly w kimchee) and bowls(curry fish bowl) are delicious. They use local ingredients w/innovative combinations that will make your taste buds happy. The service is fast and friendly.

My fiancé stopped here the other day to grab a bit to eat for lunch. Their menu is very eclectic as they have everything from fish to grilled cheese sandwiches. One thing we were surprised about was how off their prices are. In particular, we ordered the«onion rings» which were $ 3.50 for 4 small pieces. Honestly, when I opened the cartoon and saw 4 tiny onion rings I said, «What?! That’s it?!» After some discussion, we thought, geez for $ 3.50 you should be getting at least 7 pieces, not 4. Granted I’ve had many an onion ring and would LOVED to have had more because they«were» very good. I especially enjoyed the horseradish sauce for dipping which I don’t particularly like. All in all, Small Axe has good food but their prices are really off. For the size of the portions you’re getting, you should be spending much less. That’s just my opinion!

What a great place to get quick bites. I had them last fall and was greeted by a friendly staff with fantastic smells coming from the truck. My tastebuds were very happy with the quality of the food!

Stopped here on a whim around lunch time — even though there was a crowd around the truck, our order was taken and the food came out pretty quickly, which is more than I can say about some of the local food trucks when they’re busy We ordered a tempura battered haddock sandwich($ 9) and a grilled cheese with roasted tomato jam($ 5). The haddock was really tasty and the tempura made an excellent coating — a nice change from some of the heavier fried fish options out there. The grilled cheese had a good flavor, but the bread was a little thick for my taste which I think led to the two slices of cheese not being melted at all. Definitely a bummer. If I’m getting grilled cheese, I want ooey gooey melty goodness to be inside of it. Since the only side included with each of the sandwiches was two small pickle slices, I would have been happy to see either a) the prices just a dollar or two cheaper or b) a cheap side salad, chips, fries option(which, admittedly I didn’t really look for — but I also didn’t get asked if I wanted any sort of additional side, and they probably could have upsold me on a little something extra). I think they serve breakfast, too, which I’d like to try. They seem to hang out in the East Bayside area, but check Facebook for updated location details:
