My friends and I came to this bar on a Friday night. It was so much fun! The music was all hip hop and we had a blast. The atmosphere and people were fun! The drinks were a great price. It was my bachelorette weekend so me and my girls got in for free. Most of the drinks were 5 dollars, shots were 8 dollars. The dance floor is a good size for the place. The stage had a nice set up. The atmosphere was mostly all college students. Overall we had so much fun! Thank you splash for a memorable weekend.

This have the worst beer in the Brewery Blocks! The bouncers lied about what time cover«actually» started. None of the bar tenders could mix a drink let alone make a decent one without spilling half the time. This would be a great place to go if you were already drunk as a skunk.

Used to go clubbing a lot now I know why my friends never took me there. Way Over priced for drinks. Figured it would be fun for nye. Nope. Should have stuck to the clubs on 1st to 3rd. We wanted to leave well before midnight. Cover was a waste of money. 20 presale. 40 day of or 50 at the door. Each. The Dj was OK except some of the songs he mixed in had us scratching our heads. For a small room with people dropping drinks and spilling shit everywhere! No one ever came to clean it up tho we saw staff notice. Trashy

Okay, so I just got to this place, and to be honest it’s seriously just represent exactly what every other«amateur club scene» will deliver, *amateur and very inexperience* way of treating customers in Portland… I was in line and there’s was literally no one else, but for some obvious reason(trip power) of the staff(bouncer) wanted me to comply for its ridiculous way of doing things and demands when it wasn’t necessary because it was only me on line and no one else… If you want to have a good time, places such a «Whiskey Bar» «Barrel Room» «Boiler Room» are better options to have a good time based on a very well delivered atmosphere…

Being an outsider from another country I stumbled into this place expecting a rave as described from Facebook, turns out it was an old school hip hop night which was fun and the girls are here for a reason, and it’s to dance!

I only come to this place on Fridays. The people and the music here are pretty fun. I love how upbeat it is. The drinks are made well too. Ive never really had a bad time here.

As of recently they have $ 1 house beers on happy hour from 5−8pm on Monday-Thursday. They have an IPA, hef, and a lager. Plus live music the first time we checked it out. Definitely recommend for a chill place to hang out.

Not every Portland club is in Old Town! I have only been here on Fridays and Saturdays for the club scene. Great mixed drinks and never been disappointed with the music/dance floor.

I really don’t understand how this place can get so many low reviews! Every time I’ve been here they’ve been awesome, the food is great fit for the $, service is super nice & friendly, always great vibes. It’s not the height of sophistication. So what. That’s part of the charm, it’s a great place to relax, the music is fun and the bands actually really good.

I think most reviews have touched enough on the bro/dbag/hanging on to your greek days for dear life crowd that is at the core of Splash(it’s a nice space, I’ll give it that). I went once and never planned to return… until I saw the brew kettles in the window that is. I mean, it’s Portland, Beervana, there’s a high standard for beer and I love to try new beers(my personal list is over 2200 different beers) so why not give their product a try, especially since happy hour prices are $ 1 for their house brews. Well, it’s still overpriced. I never thought I’d be drinking a micro and thinking that the bar down the street that serves $ 2PBR would be a better deal. It’s what you’d expect if a frat house decided to home brew. First off, the IPA. I love IPA’s and Portland is IPA nirvana. How do you brew in Portland and screw up an IPA??? Well, Splash did it. It tasted like a skunky pilsner, I got no bite from the hops, no bitterness or complexity that is at the core of a good IPA. Maybe they forgot the hops? Next, the Lager. Well, swill is a kind description — if Natty Light got left out in the sun. It had a weak flavor that somehow left an unpleasant aftertaste. My wife and her friend couldn’t finish their pints and both ended up with upset stomachs afterwards. From what I understand they are using some new type of brewing system so maybe it will get better, but for now, if you’ve just spent 4 years at basement house parties where you get your red cup for $ 3 and drink until you pass out you’ll enjoy this beer. If that isn’t you, well, order one of the other taps.

Horrible customer service last night. Bartender was Super rude and charged me two different prices for the same drink and in a smaller glass. When I told him he, i kid you not said, «pay or get out» Ive been a bartender and a waiter would never respond to a customer as agressive or rude.

This is every raucous tiki bar in the country. The crowd was definitely 21 to 25. There is a cover to get in, but if that doesn’t deter you then $ 5 dollars for a Pabst will. They have a converted vehicle in which they serve specialty shots. A couple of beers on tap, I couldn’t tell you what they were because the taps were generically labeled by style. The music is top 40 pop and R&B. TV screens show the corresponding videos for the songs playing. The staff, from the bouncers to the bartenders and bar backs were all very friendly. If you have a bachelorette party I suggest you go here because it seems like that’s what every bride to be was doing the night I was there. I’d say skip it unless you fit the above demos.

Such good music on Friday nights. Fun club! Definitely always have a good time with friends every time we come here on the weekends. Drink waits can be a little long since there’s only one bartender at each bar but still, it’s fun for dancing!

This place is really only for a 25 and under crowd on their busy nights. Pretty obnoxious crowd. Good place to go if you want to get stupid drunk, and dance to bad mainstream music. Probably the only place to do that kind of stuff in Portland though.

I was in town for the weekend and stumbled upon this place. There’s a cover which turned me off but the drinks inside are not overpriced so I guess that makes it a little better. The music is good. They have a certified Hype Man on stage(or maybe it was just the night I was there). It was a white guy in a leather jacket jumping up and down while shouting, trying to amp up the place. Interesting enough, it actually worked. I wonder how much he gets paid to do that… The crowd is(for lack of a better word. and I hate this word.but.) kind of ratchet, but it is a good time for dancing. I am not from Oregon, but the vibe I got from this place is that it is somewhere I would go as a local if I was trying to get stupid drunk and turn up really hard and make poor decisions.

Splash bar is Portland’s own drunk, fratty, rowdy tiki bar and I hate but love every single minute of it. If you can get over the kitschy décor and vibe(and the abundance of drunk college kids) and not take yourself too seriously, you’ll have a blast. The music is fantastic. It’s just current top 40 including bit hits from the past 10 or so years that every one knows. Drinks are good, they have fun«shots» and announce shot specials all the time. Good way to spend the night with friends if you’re looking for a fun(and loud) night. Not everyone’s cup of tea.

So I would just like to show everyone this is the«manager» I spoke to about how the DJ was playing music to loud to the point where my group of friends and I had to leave. It has been an hour & half since I left the club and my ears are still ringing. As I told him, I have been to many shows with big name DJs and never have had my ears hurt this bad. He told me «maybe I should go to a rave» and turned around and started making out with this club girl. I feel like this is extremely disrespectful as a manager of such a renowned establishment and no one should be talked to in the manner he spoke to us. I can understand that he sees me as a clubber who has probably had a good amount to drink, however, that’s not the case I only had two before I departed from the club as I was the DD for the night. There is no reason for the music to be so loud and no one should ever be treated the way we were by the manager of this club. I do wish to return another night for a fun outing with my friends and I hope you listen to what I have to say. Thank you for your time. Please refer to the photos I posted of said manger.

My review is long over due(kinda). I came in here about a year ago(Thursday night) and then recently about a few months ago some weekday during the day for happy hour. I came here on a blind date the first time and got stood up, however I didn’t even realize that was happening since the manager and staff were so friendly and fun that I was having a great time that I completely forgot why I was even there. Then after an hour or two passed I realized this guy isn’t showing up! Mainly their drinks and food(which is also very delicious) are very affordable especially being in the pearl. The staff is ever so friendly and prompt. Yea their décor is slightly cheesy, but I think it suites them well for trying to stick to the theme of splash bar. I actually like it. And yes depending on the nights the clientele can vary, but both times I didn’t feel out of place and I’m in my late 20’s(not 21! or around it) The second time I came back was for happy hour and my girl and I were just hanging out in the pearl and made a stop here. Food and drinks were so affordable and there were some nice gentlemen there too that were also friendly. Never got the feeling I was in a frat house or anything, but maybe I just got lucky.

Hmm, well I guess if you are a frat boy or a sorority girl who is 22, you might really love this place. But I was so confused when I walked in here — was I still in Portland? The server was super excited to tell us that Bud Light was on special tonight. LOL of all the amazing beers in Portland, this is the big deal of the night?!? I’m sure this place has its audience, but it isn’t me…

I came here for a private work party. We received phenomenal service from the wait staff and bartenders, but I had a hard time getting over the tacky décor. I think it’s supposed to look like a beach bar, but it looks more like Sanford & Sons home or a retro shop on Hawthorne. My guess is that it’s darker at night when it turns into a club and that you don’t notice this so much. We were served a buffet and the meats were all delicious, but the mac salad left something to be desired. I guess I’m just used to it being creamier and white from mayo and not dry and yellow from mustard. However; the egg rolls were the best I’d had in a long time and my meal, as a whole, was very, very good. They serve as tropical drink in a bucket that was fantastic, but you should probably just have one. They also have karaōke, for those people that just have to share their(not always) lovely singing voices. The one issue I had was that the booths are set up on steps. After a drink or so, I can see someone tripping and falling. In fact, when this club was called«Candy» I’d had a spill myself. Not sure who’s design concept that was, but raised seating for drunk people isn’t the best laid plan. The overall feel I get is that this is a club for people in their 20’s…and I’m passed that, but I would come back for happy hour.

This place is by no means«cool” — and definitely not«Portland cool». Splash Bar is just a fun place with a great happy hour. I love themed, kitchy bars, so this bar definitely fulfilled my need for kitchy. I love the bucket drinks and the mini pitchers of beer. They also make some mean tots and egg rolls. I would recommend this bar to people who want to get really drunk, really fast and for not a lot of money. I would also recommend this bar to 21 yr olds who want to dance to pop music with other 21 yr olds. One Friday evening in which I stayed way past happy hour, I noticed a lot of foreigners who looked barely looked 21, as well as a group of much older people(+/-60) who were all getting down on the dance floor in their own respective ways. So if you’re into a diverse crowd, this is your spot(after 9pm). Surrounding the dance floor are two«cage» type dance areas. I thought these looked pretty fun, however, I noticed the DJs turn dudes away from dancing in there, which I found to be sexist. –1 star for sexism. I did enjoy the selection of pop music that played later in the night(around 9pm-12am). The drinks become considerably more expensive once happy hour ends, and the«shot bus» starts up. I’m not sure what the«shot bus» is– it actually looks like a leftover prop from the Real World Portland. So, I like this bar during happy hour, and for when I want to go dancing with my *girl* friends. Unfortunately, this bar also has quite a good deal of shortcomings.

–_– We stopped by here one night while barhopping. The crowd is… lively. The music is… loud… and outdated. The atmosphere is… hm confusing? lol. It did look like some people were having fun on that dance floor though. Unless it’s just a floor. Then they were too drunk. My friends stopped by the shot bus to get some shots, and I was about to do the same until I saw their faces lolol. They were not happy with their shots. Apparently they were diluted with stuff, and was too sweet, or something. So… I probably wouldn’t come back. ALTHOUGH… they did have some cool arcade games that are FREE! Probably spent most of our time in that one little corner playing free games. So that was ok.

Scene: A Tuesday evening. LivingSocial deal in hand. Not much going on here on Tuesdays it seems. A few people sitting at the bar. We were greeted right away and headed over to hit up a free game of pool. Our server was amicable. He wasn’t able to suggest popular drinks, but waited patiently while I thought of something to order. The drinks came back quickly. Both the virgin lemonade and Bacardi mango lemonade were much too sweet. Really a hangover waiting to happen. The coconut shrimp were strait out of a frozen package and microwaved up before served to us. They didn’t taste that great and only took about 3 minutes from the time we ordered to arrive at our table. The three meat dish(chicken, ribs, and ground mystery meat) with macaroni and rice was a good portion size(enough for two) and tasted pretty good. It was nice that pool was free and was good for a laid back environment mid-week. Happy hour seemed like a decent deal as well. It might be worth checking out during the weekend too. Overall I wasn’t expecting much but in the end was decently satisfied.
