those working in the shop were well dressed and friendly, not stuck up.
i was pleasantly surprised when i stumbled upon this location while on a visit!

I went in to buy jeans (got a great acne pair) — the shop staff were friendly and helpful, they have a pretty solid range, and they even told me another store to try for a leather jacket.
The 5 stars is really for the lovely gal who worked there and gave me alka-​seltzers for my hangover. What a legend.

It’s really disappointing with the lack of customer service Steven Alan has to offer. When is it acceptable to be sitting down as customer enter then to ignore them while discussing your weekend events and gossip about other people.
I want to shop and get some customer service. Help me find something to buy ! Stop being lazy and work

I’ve had 3 negative interactions with this store. The first time I went in I was with an out of town visitor. Nobody asked if they could help us while we browsed. The associates huddled in a small circle and gossiped about their weekends while avoiding the customers wondering the store. I went in a second time to return an item that my visitor had bought, which of course I couldn’t do. They offered store credit, but the exchange had to be done that moment. However, I had already bought the items I liked the week before. I tried going back a third time hoping they’d have different inventory, but it’s the same. The associate I was dealing with had no care for the unfortunate situation I was in. For a place as expensive as Steven Alan, I expect a bit more customer service. Maybe a suggestion or two. A «can I help you find anything?» Or maybe a «let me get a room started for you.» I like good quality clothes and have no problem spending money on them. Unfortunately, it won’t be at Steven Alan.

This fashion shop is located on the Ace Hotel side of the newish shopping promenade between here and Powell’s. Like other like places in greater PDX, this place is hip, stylish, a little spendy, and not too representative in the larger sizes. I had fun walking through, chatting with the friendly and helpful staff, and wondering how Gayle would dress me here.

This shop is shiny and new. I stopped in quickly while walking from Living Room Theaters to the streetcar line. I’d never heard of the brand before. It’s kind of Rag & Bone meets J. Crew.
In the shop I was happy to find a selection of excellent-​quality, not-​super-​trendy clothing, quite a bit of which was not made in China (hurrah). I’ve been searching the Web for some well-​made basic button-​down shirts to wear to work, and this could be the place for me to get them. I didn’t have time to linger, so I went to the Steven Alan Website to browse last night. How funny to see the models on the home page – they look stoned or pissed or both. They look nothing like the friendly clerks in the store!
Clearly the demographic for these clothes is buyers young enough to be my children, but that’s okay. Good clothes are good clothes. I can always say I’m shopping for my (nonexistent) daughter.

On one hand I’m really glad to see a place like Steven Alan show up in Portland. On the other, it’s really more or less the same wares being sold by other, local vendors.
The store itself is nicely decorated and has a helpful staff, but overall there really isn’t anything particularly intriguing about this location. It seems like they’re going for more of the «basic» button ups, coats and jeans while leaving out some of the more interesting pieces you would find in their SF, NYC or online store.

It’s all about dressing nice and having the right fit. This store will most likely cater to whatever you’re looking for in basic clothing. Tees, shirts, pants, jeans, jackets, swim trunks, accessories (mostly for ladies), bags, shoes– they have it.
Don’t expect bargain prices, this is not a fast/​flash fashion store. They have well crafted items sold in the store. I am amazed by the knick-​knacks that they have on the counter. It made my day brighter.
What also made my day brighter? Looking into that yellow raincoat in which it reminds me of Paddington Bear.
