We had terrible water seepage problems in our basement due to water pooling near the edge of the house, and received a number of very expensive and complicated suggestions to fix it(eg, French drains, wrapping the basement in plastic). SRG suggested a «rain garden», basically sloping the ground away from the house, letting gravity keep water from my foundation. Simple. SRG spent an afternoon with a small Cat bulldozer, built up the earth near the house, ran our gutter downspout into a downward sloping pipe, and dug us a lovely deep oval shape a bit lower, and filled the bottom and side with decorative rocks.(We planted the landscaping ourselves with their suggestions.) We’ve now been experiencing a LOT of rain, flooding all over Portland, just the typical torrential downpour. My basement floor is nice and dry, and I can watch the water pouring out of the pipe into the rain garden. This was a relatively inexpensive fix to our serious basement flooding issues and now, about a year later, we couldn’t be happier with our choice to have SRG put in a rain garden.
