I have curly hair, which is a huge issue when going to a salon, and I have reddish blondish brownish hair that I like to be jazzed up to be full on and natural looking sassy redhead, which is also a challenge at a salon. But luckily, I have found Jeffrey and he takes care of me every time!
He uses Eufora products, which are all aloe based, and use as much natural ingredients possible. Anyone else with curly hair knows it is hard to find a product that controls frizz while keeping volume, doesn’t weigh curls down, and gives a good curl. Eufora is the best I have found! And I’ve tried Aveda, Bumble and Bumble, Purology, Shea Moisture, and lots more (oh the money I’ve spent trying to find a good product for my hair). Everything from the curl’n line I’ve tried works great (especially the forming cream, I can not live without this now), it smells wonderful. and is priced comparable to any other quality hair product.
Jeffrey listens to what I want and now knows how I like my hair color when I walk in the door. No guessing, no hoping its gonna turn out right, he’s got it down to a science. The salon is nice and clean, everyone is friendly, and they also have a skincare treatment section of the salon that I haven’t even looked into yet. Great salon overall!

I go to Monte at Studio One because he cuts hair better than anyone I have ever gone to. Very meticulous with an artistic flair. He uses Goldwell color on me and I love the semi-​permanent brunette formula he chose. Added a few beautiful highlights, too. Wouldn’t go to anyone else. Highly recommend.

Bought a groupon for my gf for Raymond Bolton, sounded good experienced in color etc. Sounded like a good deal but he charged 40 extra for hair below the shoulder. Worst, my gf wanted blonde, ended up with streaks of blonde and dark. Very patchy, looked like a cheetah after! He offered a touch up but we would never trust him to touch hair again. No refund offered.

unless you want to leave crying… do not come to this man! i had beautiful white blonde hair that he managed to annihilate in an hour. i’m a hairstylist myself so i know how crucial communication is…(it’s too hard to do your own hi/​low lights)…and i even brought along pictures of myself (not cutout old magazine pictures) so… i covered all bases, so to speak. except for raymond bolton.
i left with the most drab awfullest colored hair ever!
all blonde removed!
i simply wanted some lowlights to add interest and to most definitely, keep my blonde and fill in the roots!
what i got wasthe most unprofessionally applied hi-​lights/​low-​lights ever.
half of my hair is almost all dark with barely any highlights but that’s not the worst…
i have a «bleach bleed» right in the front of my bangs-​impossible to hide-​along with a single wide extremely dark streak, again right in my bangs area., i could go on but bottom line is, this was the biggesy mistake ever going to this man, raymond bolton.
to add insult to injury, when i called him to try to find a time for him to fis the damage… yes, i had!!! to go back to him as only he knew the formulas etc, of what he used on my hair…
he had the nerve to say“i don’t think we’re a good fit, my dear” and hang up on me!
right! after he’s done all the damage, now he turns tail and runs?!
so, consider this my good deed for the day for saving you future anguish.
* not once did he check on me under the dryer… nor check to see if i’d like more coffee, etc. i finally got myself up and out from under the dryer and went looking around for water… soooo unprofessional!

Not a bad place. My fiancé and I got a Groupon for Nicole and went in for a cut/​color. Both of us brought photos and went into a lot of detail about what we wanted and though the end result did not look bad it was not what either of us came in for. I asked for finger length in the back and got about twice that. Fiancé asked for RED hair and ended up with a very dark (almost black) burnette. Again it wasn’t awful but both of us ended up having to have our hair fixed elsewhere to get what we wanted not what the stylist thought would look good.

Studio One is a great salon. I have been going to Charlie Atkinson for several years. He is a perfectionist and I can always trust that I will get an excellent haircut. Jean Nolan does my color and she is also an expert. I enjoy going to this salon!

Tucked in the walkway of a large brick building, this salon was clean, comfortable, and buzzing with activity. Nichole cut and colored my hair perfectly using organic dye, shampoo, and styling products. She was pleasantly chatty but also let me enjoy indulging in my fashion magazine. I was very pleased with the groupon deal but will go back because the service was great!

Nicole Armstrong is back. And she is wonderful. Great cut, great price and great company. The studio is busy and friendly. Cool location; go for a walk along the river after your cut. I think I’ve finally found my stylist in Portland.

Best salon in the city. They have the best first impression, Amy who welcomes every client with open arms. Staff has the mojo.

I got a Groupon for Nicole Armstrong because I wanted to move to an Organic salon and I wasn’t sure what I was going to get. The Groupon was a killer deal — cut, color and a shine glaze.
The salon was a bit hidden so it took a second try to find it, but I don’t go down Macadam often enough to know the ins and outs. Inside was very professional and clean. I didn’t have any issues overhearing stylists gossiping or with it being too warm or cold, or smelly which is often an issue with salons IMO.
As for Nicole, she was warm and friendly and listened to what I wanted. I have been changing my routine to natural products lately and finding I much prefer it. But because of that, I haven’t had my hair done for quite a while, and didn’t know what I wanted. I gave her free reign (without going TOO short), and she gave me a gorgeous brown to match my natural color more without being too dark, and some caramel highlights that got plenty of notice. She also gave me tips for how to wear my hair curly as well as cut it appropriately, as it has much more curl in it than it used to (not sure if this is due to the removal of harsh chemical usage with my hair or just age).
The best part was there was no awful smell and the shine glaze made my hair look fantastic. She styled my hair straight and it was so nice and easy to run my fingers through despite the mouse used. I really hate hair products that stick my hair so if I touch it, I mess it up or lose a finger.
It’s two months later, and I’ve just scheduled another appointment to ensure my hair looks amazing for the holiday parties to come.

I showed him some pictures of what I wanted and he delivered! He gave me a perfect combination of all of my pictures, and truly listened to what I wanted. I walked in having an ombré color that was too light and he fixed it right up and made it better than what I imagined. The color is gorgeous, the cut is perfect. Finally I’ve found someone to stick with in Portland.

Nicole Armstrong is by far one of the best hair stylists I know. Not only are her skills amazing but she is an amazing person. She’s on a mission to make you look amazing and feel amazing and has the best interest for her clients. People should go to see her!!!

My hair experience with Raymond Bolton at Studio One was fantastic! I always get a little anxious when it comes to having my hair cut rather short, especially when going to a stylist for the first time. I wonder whether I’ll really be listened to, or if the stylist will simply take complete creative freedom and go to town, ending up with me feeling a bit dismayed in having lost more length than I would have liked. Raymond, however, quickly dispelled my fears as he was very attentive and thorough in clarifying what exactly it was I desired in terms of the cut as well as the color, both of which turned out completely lovely! He was able to the give me the perfect rich chocolate brown hair color I’d desired, even though I had serious roots and a lot of lingering red in the ends of my hair after permanently dying my hair with strong reds for about 6 months.
The short story is this: I highly recommend Raymond if you’re hoping to get a style that leaves you feeling great, a cut that complements your facial shape and beautiful color to really revamp yourself!

Saw Karlee again for another cut and color. Amazing job & beautiful subtle blond highlights just how I like. My friend Brook commented 3 times in one night how much she loved my new hair cut. Granted Brook had been drinking, but still. Always love the results here.

I followed an amazing hairstylist to Studio One and I love it! It’s easy to get to and a light and bright space with lots of friendly people and services. I followed Karlee from Lake Oswego and couldn’t be happier. She is the most amazing colorist I’ve ever been to and my hair always looks incredible. She always listens to exactly what I want and is open to trying something new. She’s made me a blond, a redhead and now finally back to my natural brown. My hair has looked amazing at each color! Karlee is fun and really knowledgeable and I would recommend her and Studio One to anyone!
