Sadly the restaurant is now closed. :(I’m heartbroken!

Not open on Saturday as advertised. Sounds good if it were open, but no hours posted so don’t know when we could try it. Google maps says they are permanently closed…

I stopped in the new location a few months ago and had the most bizarrely charming experience that one can only have in Portland. The owner doubled as a our waiter and he had the greatest combination of down home charm and sarcasm. The food was amazing, with each of us dining there thoroughly enjoying our meals. We were all members of the clean plate club that morning. I highly suggest the sweet potato biscuits.

Impressed! My wife ordered the corn beef hash and I ordered a biscuit meatloaf sandwich with a side of gravy so I could try two dishes. We were very pleased with the food quality and friendliness of the staff. It is walking distance from Pioneer mall.

Corned Beef hash hit the spot on this cold rainy morning! Great service and comfy ambiance!

The food here is amazing — the service, not so much. For the second time we’ve place a to go order and they don’t want our business. Turning down a $ 75 order so you can close early is lame. Thanks for breakfast, Sugar Mamas!

This place was a nice end to our trip. No long lines and only a short wait for our food. The cottage fries, bacon, breakfast sandwich and French toast all got rave reviews at our table. Definitely rec this place for some yummy home made food goodness.

ATTENTIONGLUTEN-FREEDINERS! My best friend and I went here for brunch on Sunday based on the reviews, and let me tell you, they did not disappoint! Gluten-free biscuits and gravy?! Are you kidding me? We had delicious mimosas, spring chicken hash, biscuits and gravy, and Michelle’s AMAZING homemade brioche french toast with blackberry compote.(Yes we ordered waaay too much food, but how could we narrow it down to only two dishes?!) Everything was off the charts good. The only thing that wasn’t gluten-free was the french toast, so I’m taking my bff’s word for it when she says it was amazing. ***BUT don’t let the«gluten-free» tags here deter you gluten lovers! This wasn’t «good for gluten-free» food. It was DELICIOUS food that happens to also be gluten free.*** Ample seating, fantastic service and the cutest little girl giving her dad a helping hand. What a doll! :)

YUM! Finally got a chance to try this place, and was very impressed. Ordered the biscuits and gravy with eggs. I was picturing just some eggs on the side, but they had other(better) ideas. The eggs came on TOP of the biscuits, all of which was then covered in a pile of delicious sausage gravy. The eggs were nice and fluffy, biscuits were perfect, and the sausage gravy had a savory rich flavor. To top it all off, the coffee was excellent. I’m excited to try other items on their menu, perhaps as soon as tomorrow! Oh, and I found the service to be prompt and friendly.

We didn’t have much time for breakfast and we ended up coming here because there was no wait. I’m happy we ended up here. They have Fresh food made from scratch. At first I was a little disappointed that the menu seemed very selective, but now I know it’s because they choose quality over quantity. I got the«Good Morning»($ 6) and I added a sausage patty. Just by looking at the patty, I could tell it was handmade. It tasted like rosemary, which I loved. The cottage potatoes(I’m so used to calling them«country potatoes») we’re diced into really tiny pieces, which made it so they were each slightly crunchy and perfectly cooked. My breakfast was simple, yet tasty. I would definitely eat here again.

Really good breakfast place in the morning. Not a huge menu but the breakfast burrito is huge and yummy! Cute and quirky!

Stuffed hash browns — Delish Stopped in here on a weekend during a trip to Portland, the ambiance is a little sparse, and not what you would call cozy, but the food is very good, and they introduced us to armadillo hot sauce, which we’ve ordered for home. It would be a great place for a large group(12+), since it seemed pretty empty and has a lot of seating

Attempted to go to Mother’s Bistro and I am really glad I ended up here instead. Came here with my boyfriend and his parents, who are from out of town. His mom ordered the banana nut pancakes and we all tried a bite, oh my goddess, they were AMAZING. I had the breakfast biscuit with the house-made sausage, it was all delicious. The boyfriend had the breakfast burrito, also delicious. I would definitely eat here again. Besides the food, the service was great too! Very friendly and talkative, the mom-and-pop style was exactly what we wanted to show his parents. I would definitely choose this place again, over a super busy well known breakfast place. The pricing was great, right in between $-$$. I think the total was around $ 40 for the four of us. The parents paid and we weren’t able to see the check.

At noon on Saturday the place was empty which is never a good sign. The restaurant looked dirty and grimy so I was already hesitant. We waited to be seated as the hand written note at the counter said. We were informed, as the sign said on the door, that they are unable to accommodate more than 4 people at a time and so we split our group into 2 sets of 3. We were told that they cannot handle the larger parties because the kitchen isn’t able to put the food out all at the same time. The place was empty accept 1 – 2 other tables. Get it together! They then had a young girl, perhaps 10, come and«clean off» the tables and take our coffee order. Bless her heart for trying but she did a bad job and we had to ask for the washcloth back to clean the table. We decided to leave after that. All and all an awkward experience

This is a cute spot. Great environment & the staff was very friendly. I had the banana pecan pancakes and I was very picky about no butter, sugar, etc, and they were very helpful! The sweet potato and yam biscuit was my favorite part about my meal. I’m so full and very satisfied with this spot. Open seating on a Sunday at 11am, that was a huge plus!

If you want some good hashbrowns, go to Sugar Mama’s! I came here on a Sunday around 11 am, and there was no wait. Surprising! Ambiance: The seating is cafeteria style(sit wherever you want), and a waiter will come take your order. The staff was friendly and casual. A couple people came by to check up on us. Food: They serve breakfast and homestyle food. I was impressed with the many things they could do with hashbrowns. I got the«BLT+C Hashbrowns», which is exactly what it sounds like — hashbrowns with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. The only problem with mine? They forgot to add the lettuce!(A waitress came by and noticed this. She told the chefs… who didn’t really seem to care. I was a bit disappointed they didn’t offer to re-make it, but it was still good.) Overall, it was a nice, hearty breakfast with a typical diner style feel. Unfortunately, they couldn’t validate parking.

I love me some Sugar Mamas! I had been once to their previous location, which was fab and finally made it down to their newest location! It’s very spacious. Staff is always super nice and friendly here. When you order a coffee you get a whole stinking pot! Awesome! My order was the Biscuits and Gravy Deluxe — it came with 2 large eggs and cheese on top of scratch made sausage gravy and biscuits. I opted for a sweet potato biscuit which was to die for. Note: it’s a lot of food. But it is so darn good you will attempt to eat it all. Hands down it was some of the best biscuits and gravy I’ve ever had. The gravy alone was drink worthy. HUGE chunks of delicious sausage and the seasoning was on par. Biscuit was perfectly dense and fluffy at the same time. Eggs and cheese just added to the mix. I highly recommend this if you’re not counting calories and/or looking for a hearty meal! Prices are fair and there are plenty of breakfast options. They are also known for their homemade cinnamon rolls. I will certainly be back!

Don’t bother. Stopped in for lunch yesterday and it was a fiasco. Only one person was in there when we arrived so we thought it would be quick… we thought wrong. A couple of tables came in after us and despite arriving first our order was taken last; a turkey burger for me and a vegetable hash brown dish for my friend. After more than 15 minutes the waitress came to tell me they were out of turkey burgers and suggested the chicken pesto sandwich. Fine, whatever. The other tables start to get their food when she comes back another 10 minutes later to tell me they are out of the pesto sauce, «Do you want it without the pesto?» No. No, I do not. I ask for a basic hamburger instead since the first lady in there was eating that and it looked okay. «Sorry, we’re out of buns.» Are you kidding me?! You have 10 items on your lunch menu and over half of them come on a bun. We were ready to just leave since it had been over 45 minutes and we had to get back to work soon. We asked if they had started the other order for the hash browns and she said they just did so I asked to just have that too thinking just throw on more and it would be out faster. Wrong again. The first order came out with mine nowhere to be found. My friend finished her meal before mine arrived. We promptly asked for the check and a box so we could leave and the few bites I had before shoving it into the box were bland. The red and white onions, tomatoes, red and green peppers, and spinach were sautéed in oil and had no flavor. I’m not sure if salt ever hit that plate. By the time we left we had been there nearly an hour and I knew it was the last time I would ever dine there.

Cinnamon rolls remain one of my many weaknesses. It’s hard to resist carbs filled with gooey cinnamon-sugar and topped with sweet addicting icing. Sugar Mamas’ Café serves two types of cinnamon rolls(Classic and Maple Bacon) and their Caramel Pecan Sticky Buns every Friday. The Classic is $ 3.75 and the Maple Bacon is $ 4.75. The Classic is a heck of a cinnamon roll. The sugary glaze virtually coated the entire roll, with the cinnamon-sugar layers providing a food porn-worthy sight. I loved that the Maple Bacon Cinnamon Roll sprinkled bacon bits on top. Spread the pork love all over the top. Embrace meat crack. Frankly, I would be getting the Classic over the Maple Bacon. I think the maple syrup within the icing combined for sugar overload. This place is open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch. Hopefully I’ll be able to try their Caramel Pecan Sticky Bun someday.

A very high 3-Star rating based on one visit. The staff and owner are very friendly, you just want them to succeed. I opted for the recommended Puled Pork Hash which was ample in portion; it had a nice sweet and savory balance. Also had a taste of their yummy touted gravy. What’s lacking here is atmosphere. For one, they are located in a dark section along a major thoroughfare, so visiting is a bit cumbersome if you’re not already walking around in Downtown. Moreover, it’s not cozy, warm or «cute» in any way. That said, their somewhat high price points are far from value. Nevertheless, I would visit again if I happened to be walking by.

My favorite breakfast spot, I love theit biscuits and gravy and all the hashes. I was devastated when the old location closed, and I’m so happy that they are open again! The wait for food can be lengthier than other sit down joints but it is well worth the wait. The service is friendly, the coffee bottomless, and the portions ridiculous. They could cut back on the size and charge the same amount and I would still not be disappointed. An inexpensive downhome breakfast, it really doesnt get much better! –what is below is copied from my review of their former location, and it all still rings true! This is by far one of my absolute favorite breakfast spots. I’m really a breakfast person on the weekends only, and I insist on doing it right then! Their prices are great, the service is awesome and I always feel welcome. Not to mention the food. Usually I try the food by trying what whomever I’m with is having, but I tend to stick to the biscuits and gravy. For a small charge, I get an egg with it. Delicious and satisfying, both for my hunger and for my wallet!
